Where are these magazines coming from?

Every now and then I start receiving magazines at home ... magazines that I didn't subscribe to or pay for. Does anybody know why this happens? No notice that a friend bought it for me...they just start showing up. Anybody else get mystery magazines??

Yes! This happened to us and then they show up on the credit card. Books a million and another store had this thing at the checkout where they told the customers that they got a free trial subscription with the purchase. They first time it happened my husband was sos excited and "chose" about three sports magazines. Then, sure enough, the credit card got charged. The next time, I was shopping at stein mart and I went to run the credit card through and it caught my attention that the screen showed it had "accepted" free trial offers. I happened so fast that if I hadn't been aware of it I would have hit enter. Check your credit cards,

If you did get a "free trial" of some magazines, you can usually cancel within the first 3 months before you are charged. I would call the phone number or get online for the magazine and make sure you are not a subscriber. If you are, get it cancelled NOW!! Good luck!

Yes, I have gotten Health Magazine for a number of years. I have never subscribed to it and have never paid for it. I'll get it for a year, then get a notice that my subscription is expiring. I don't renew it and then a couple of months later I start getting it again. I figure either someone is giving me a gift subscription and they never told me (unlikely) or it's some kind of marketing thing where they hope that I will subscribe at some point.

Like a PP said, definitely check your credit cards for unauthorized charges.

Also, when I get magazines or catalogues I didn't order or don't want, I call the customer service number (usually on the first few pages or the back page) to see what's going on. Depending on the circumstances, I usually end up asking them to take me off their mailing lists, which works like a charm 99% of the time.
