When Cathe does 6" -- do you sometimes do 8" ?

Have any of you taken one or some of Cathe's killer 6" step height cardio routines and made it even more killer at 8"?

If so, which ones come to mind? (and I know of at least one person who just does it all at 8")

RE: When Cathe does 6

I always use an 8" step. It's always been more comfortable to me. But keep in mind that I don't actually do most of the jumping anymore. I have to modify all moves and keep things as low impact as I can. I've tried a 10" to up the intensity, but that's too hard on the knees. So 8" provides as much intensity as possible for me.

RE: When Cathe does 6

Although I'm tall I always one level less than Cathe per the directive from my knees! They get enough abuse with mountain hikes in the summer.

RE: When Cathe does 6

I just recently starting using a six inch step due to knee trouble (damn Cathe and her addictive Step workouts!--I can't stop doing them!) I have always used a 8 inch step in the past, though. I usually still use 8 inches on her lower impact tapes but because she does so much high impact and jumping, I've lowered it to 6 inches for all the others.

RE: When Cathe does 6

I admit, I never use an 8" step for anything, even when Cathe does. I have really short legs, and when I try to use 8", my knees get a little achy - it's just too much for me.

I have used 8" in BodyStep class at the gym, but I don't keep it at that height for the entire workout - I follow the instructor cues re: step height, and it changes several times during the workout, to give my knees a break.

RE: When Cathe does 6

I'm with Marcy in using 8" for everything except IMAX3. There is just too much jumping on and off the step in that one. I'm taller than Cathe though.

RE: When Cathe does 6

Much like Robin and Marcy I use an 8" step for everything but IMAX3 and DrillMax. I'm 5'8" and can get clumsy when jumping off and on the step so this works best for me. I love Cathe's non-interval workouts on 8", good challenge....keeps me in the 'fat burning zone':+ }( ;-)

RE: When Cathe does 6

I'm a bench with NO risers kind of a girl:D . Elevating the step at all tends to irritate my hip. I seem to get a pretty decent workout just using the bench, but then, I am old and clumsy :p :7

RE: When Cathe does 6

I only use a 6", except in Low Max. I'm too short for the 8" with high impact. Don't really need it to get my heart rate up anyway.

RE: When Cathe does 6

Yes, I mostly use an 8 inch step for HR purposes...though I bring it down a notch if I am tired or not up to it.

RE: When Cathe does 6

I always use an 8" step, even for Imax 3 and Drillmax. I'm 5'7" and 6" just doesn't feel right to me. And you can take that any way you like}(

LOL!

RE: When Cathe does 6

Wow, now I feel like a whimp! I barely make it through DrillMax on a 4" step (just the platform), halfway through the workout, I start wishing for a -2" step :)

But seriously, I do most of my workouts on the 4" now and I feel I get a pretty good workout. Any higher and I probably would be tripping over the step and fall flat on my face:+

RE: When Cathe does 6

I do everything on a 6 inch except the 1st time, I'll use 4 to learn. I had knee surgery last year and an 8 inch has my knee yelling at me the rest of the day and the next day. I can do the 8 inch cardiovascularly but not knee-wise. Funny, though how weights and leg presses and such don't bother it regardless of the height I think its the impact and the repetition. I still feel like I've gotten a good w/o on 6 in so why hurt myself?

RE: When Cathe does 6

I have always done Cathe's step on the 4" platform, with no risers. If I add risers, my knees hurt and I fall off !
