I just looked at a review for the Gourmet Nutrition vol.2 at LiveWell.com, and they said they haven't made one recipe from it that they didn't like, and they highly recommended it! Just one question - can you only get this book through the internet, or is it available in stores?

As far as I know you can only get it through Precision Nutrition.
I just got mine yesterday. I have nopt made anything yet but it looks awesome. I was on the fence about getting PN for months but finally took the plunge. the Volume one comes with the package. Volume 2 is an extra $39.99 but you can just order the book. V2 has beautiful colour photos and is not spiral bound like V1. V1 doesn't have photos.

Thanks! I've never even heard of Gourmet Nutrition before, but from what you've said and what I've seen so far, it sounds like it's right up my alley, and I know I want it. (My poor husband - I'm sure if he could he would ban me from these forums:D) Thanks again for the great suggestions!

Anyone else care to share their favorites?

This question is too difficult. :) I don't have one favorite -- I use many, but off the top of my head, some books that maybe people might not have heard of but are go-to books for me: Vegetables Every Day by Jack Bishop, Cooking for Mr. Latte by Amanda Hesser (that one is a light read as well as a cook book), and I make good use of Cook's Illustrated, too. None of these are billed as "healthy cookbooks", but you can definitely find healthy stuff there (and not so healthy as well, probably).

I love Cook's Illustrated!
I know it is not healthy most of the time. But I make alot of the recipes out of them for my DH and have never made a bad recipe. I think to with a little tweaking you can make 'some' of the recipes that are not so healthy, healthier!

Okay, I have to admit - I'm a Cook's Illustrated junkie! In fact, anything from America's Test Kitchen - I have, let me see, 1,2,3,4.....
16 - yes, you read right - 16 of their cookbooks! They are the only cookbooks that you can completely trust to be absolutely delicious just about 100% of the time.

Do either of you have The Best Light Recipe from them? It is really, really good. Seriously, I love some of those recipes better than the full-fat versions. Still, I don't know that I would call it a cookbook designed for healthy eating. But if your focus is on food that tastes really good, and you want a little less guilt to go with it, this is an awesome cookbook.

I may post a few of the recipes from it as soon as my baby boy takes his nap!:D

Hands down for 'healthy" would be the Marilu Henner cookbooks...Healthy Life Kitchen is my favorite...

Just thought I'd share a new find with everyone - Muscle Chow. It seems like the perfect cookbook for clean eating. Just simple, easy-to-make food for those of you who eat 5-6 meals a day. Just got it in the mail, and can't wait to try it. Got mine at Half.com for pretty cheap, I think about $8 or $9.

Anyone else own this? Tell me what you think.:D

One of my favorite cookbooks is:
"5 Square Low-Carb Meals: The 20-Day Makeover Plan with Delicious Recipes for Fast, Healthy Weight Loss and High Energy" by Monica Lynn

I find the dishes to be flavorful, filling, and well balanced.

I'm looking forward to Nathan Lyon's cookbook to be released. Every recipe of his that I've tried from the TV show has turned out beautifully.

Gourment Nutrition? Precision Nutrition?

What is Precision Nutrition and Gourmet Nutrtion? I looked it up briefly but was wondering if you all could share more information. I'm a major "foodie," so I often have time with pure, "clean eating." Would these books be for me?T hanks!

If you're a foodie who likes Cooks Illustrated, then try "The Perfect Recipe for Losing Weight & Eating Great" by Pam Anderson. Pam Anderson is the former Executive Editor of Cooks Illustrated. She found herself 50 lbs. overweight from all her years as a chef and lost the weight through a combination of exercise and eating lightened-up recipes that she then compiled into this cookbook.

You can also try Cooking Light magazine and Eating Well magazines. While not totally clean, they do have a lot of healthful wholesome recipes that are calorie controlled and able to satisfy a foodie's palate.

Not a book, but magazine . . .

I just picked up a copy of Clean Eating Magazine, and that one looks like it has some nice healthy recipes. I haven't cooked any yet, so not sure about the taste . .

For books, I like Ellie Krieger's book too, and Robin Miller makes some pretty healthy meals in her Quick Fix books. Oh, there's also Devin Alexander - Healthy Decadence.

Looks like I am the only one here so far who really loves the South Beach Diet cookbooks. I swear by them. The food actually tastes very good and a lot of it is pretty spicy and generally flavorful. I have the clean eating books and got the clean eating magazine for a year, but the recipes in those almost never clicked with me or MDH. I do not agree with the South Beach author when he uses artificial sweeteners on occasion, but I just modify the rare instances where that occurs. I am cooking up a Chicken Capri right now and the smell from the oven is awesome.
