What's with the Boo Bahs?

I was channel surfing and saw the Boo Bahs on TV, so thought I'd check them out. What in the world! These strange creatures (who look kind of obscene: like an uncircumcised male "member" with a fringed foreskin) make strange sounds (booo baaa), fart, float in the air (after a fart, I think). They don't seem to say anything comprehensible, or do anything much but fart and float. Kind of like Telly tubbies on acid! I'm not sure what else they do, but the whole thing is like a strange drug trip for kids. Definitely some Freudian implications in there as well, I think. I wonder if this is for kids, or for adults strung out on drugs?

I wondered the same thing. They have the dolls in Walmart and they make the farting noise. I don't get it, I wouldn't let my kids watch them.

ROFL!!!! I am laughing so hard I have tears running down my face!:D I have seen this show too and you pretty much summed up my thoughts on them. Strange! Very Strange!!

I didn't even know that they had a show???? I saw them in Wal-Mart and I had no idea what they were. Last weekend we were in Kay-Bee toys and my son says, "hey mommy, there's that toy you don't like and he ran up to it and squeezed it's hand so it would say Boo-Bah. I think that they are worse then telly tubbies & I never let him watch that show. Can you believe that they (whoever the manufacturer is) are making money?

LMAO....TOO FUNNY and too true. I remember when I first saw them on on t.v., I was like, "What the he##?". I just stood there watching b/c I was trying make out what the heck they were saying. Boo Bahs truly outdid the T Tubbies.

My daughter refuses to let her son watch those Weirdos.

LMAO!! I saw this show when it first came out a year or so ago and the person who came up with this had to have been on drugs. I thought Telletubbies was bad but this! it is so banned in my house.

I actually bought one of those and kept it for a couple of days before returning it. It made me laugh. Especially the fartiing. But I also like South Park.

Judging by what I think they look like, maybe the creator was taking drugs and doing something else ;-) when he came up with the idea.

Are the Telletubbies and Boo Bahs by the same people/person? They both are strange as heck. But the "most strange" award definitely goes to the Boo Bahs.

I am soooo glad my kids are too old to watch this stuff!!!! But the three of us sure did have a blast in Walmart last Christmas making all the BOO bahs on the shelf all talk at once....we laughed forever....does anybody actually watch those demented little guys???

I'd like to hear from someone who loves the Boo Bahs, because I just don't get it at all. Surely, since they have their own television show and "action figures," SOMEONE must be enjoying them. Where are these people? Please explain it to me.

I think that any Boo Bahs lovers would not be able to articulate their reasons, because they're either 2 year olds or hopped up on something!
2 year old: "Boo bah! tee hee hee hee"
druggie: "Cool! PLLLLL (fat sound). Ha ha ha ha ha! Boooo Baaah! Ha ha ha ha ha!"

My dd used to love them. But not as much as Teletubbies. I think they're kind of creepy looking myself. And fortunately, they came on after I left for work, so my dh was the one who had to watch. I think the attraction for her was that her father's nickname for her since she was an infant was "Beeba" (bee-bah). So she feels some sort of kinship.

I actually kind of like the Teletubbies. They're very cute and sweet. There are 2 shows that I can't stand, though, and try discourage my dd from watching. Cayou (Caiou?). That kid is a whiny little baby. That's what I always call him when dd is watching. "Why are you watching that whiny little baby? I can't stand him!" I think she watches just because she thinks it's so funny that I hate him so much.

I also hate "Jay-Jay the Jetplane". Something about vehicles with human faces just creeps me out. I don't like Thomas the train either. Anyone who's read The Dark Tower books will understand my discomfort with that.

I hate clowns, too. But that's a whole other phobia...

LOL - obviously you have limited experience with druggies. In fact, they would be able to articulate at great length exactly why they like the Boo Bah's, but it would make absolutely no sense to anyone but them and whoever else was sharing their pill/joint/needle at the time. They would all nod wisely and continue watching.

"Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all of one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream and we're the imagination of ourselves.... now here's Tom with the weather"

;)

Shelley - you are SO funny!!! As a former casual stoner, I can totally agree with that statement. Lots of nodding...with the occassional outburst of laughter...and exclamations of "sweet".

>LOL - obviously you have limited experience with druggies.

Admittedly, my experience is rather long ago. Maybe I'm confusing them with drunks? That must be it!

Thank you Kathyrn for posting this! Those things are creepy!!!! I change the channel in the playroom as soon as i hear "Boo Bah". It's such a weird show. They actual make the Teletubbies look good! LOL! My dd liked Barney and Teletubbies when she was younger. I tried to discourage the latter!

There is another show that is on either Disney or NickJr that is very strange. I don't know the name of it because I turn that one off too. These are real people, but dressed like clowns or something. Very weird!

I think that the show you are referring to is "The Doodle Bops" - I hate that show.

Donna, I also can't stand Jay, Jay the Jet Plane. Thank goodness my son never really got into it. Have you seen the toys? They are so creepy.

Yep, that rings a bell! Weird! Weird! Weird!

Oh Donna, I am with you on Calliou (I can't stand that show). I am always reminding Sydney not to whine like him. Jay Jay is just FREAKY. Sydney KNOWS I don't like JJ, so as soon as he comes on she rushes to find me and let me know he is on TV (she is soooo mischievious). Those faces on those planes are major CREEEPY!

The Tubbies have grown on me. Sydney watches the Boo-Bahs, but they are mostly on for noise. She even has a couple of the dolls, but I will never look at them the same after Kathryn's description. LOL!!

My daughter is into real life medical shows... Dr. 90210, surgery shows, Trauma: Life in the ER. She pretends to do surgery on her dolls. She is well versed in anatomy and physiology too. I am sure she will be a hit with the kidergarten teacher and other parents. :)
