What's up with girl's underwear?

Beheadings performed by countries that have a history of barbaric behavior have much less impact on me than those American soldiers doing what they did. THey are Americans and we don't behave that way. We are supposed to be an enlightened, civilized country. AND, by the way, Paul Johnson worked for the company I work for, and his beheading upset a lot of people, so that is just an uninformed statement on your part.

Those prison pictures did not have to be accentuated, they were just awful all on their own.

What I am saying is those beheadings were reported and then swept under the rug very quickly. Meanwhile the acts in the prisons see nightly coverage, and I have a problem with that. Those acts were bad, true, but the beheadings were worse for obvious reasons. The liberal media unfortunately is overusing the prison acts in an attempt to make Bush look badly. They are politicizing it, and politicizing the war, which is wrong.
Lastly, war itself is a bad thing. And I must disagree with you. Americans and any other culture who have participated in war do those types of things and even worse. Always have, always will--despite the denials. Not excusing it. But it's true. Sometimes your enemy only understands certain types of behavior. And sometimes you may need to use that behavior back against them to gain information, etc. And frankly, things like what happened in those prisons go on all the time and have gone on all through history. It doesn't make it right. But it does go on. One thing to remember also is that those prisoners are the hardcore ones. The ones who'd kill you and me both in a second simply because we are American. No other reason is needed by them. Just something to keep in mind.
Anyway you and I are way O.T. here Candi so let's just agree to disagree. I want to keep it civil in here. And I do appreciate your opinion.

Actually, my brother is already paying more than 5 Euro ($) a Gallon in Germany. The advantage they have in Europe is a good public transportation system. You can take the buses/trains/trolleys etc. everywhere, there are stores in walking distance. In other words you don't need a car there - here on the other hand it's not possible to live without a car. The closest gas station/convenient store is 5 miles from my house and since there are no sidewalks or biketrails going there by car is the only possibility.

I always try to get my daily dose of French, German, British and Polish news just so I see different perspectives of the same subjects.

If you just depend of the US news you'd miss out on a lot of information.

We used to make fun of Americans when studies came out that Americans didn't know where Canada was. After living here for a few years I realized that it's like living on an island, you hardly hear anything about Canada and Geography is not really a big subject in school (unless it's about the US).

Americans always want to better the world with no regards what other peoples want. Having said that, I am looking forward to 'my' first election, the current administration is getting my vote.

You are right on there. Americans are always wanting to better the world. In that regard we are pretty naive. We should just let these countries solve it all for themselves. They'd do much better I am sure.
At least you are voting for the best guy for the job in November.

Well good grief! I came on here all ready to read some lewd and funny comment from Trevor about girl's underwear, and instead I find everyone talking about war and politics and Americans - love 'em ... hate 'em ... etc., etc., etc. LOL!!

Back to the original question ... which I have decided it is best for me not to touch with a $100 barrel of oil ... since my take on it differs greatly from the majority of the posts already here ... }(
