mornin ladies!

and it will be another fine one here! yesterday got over 60 but it was windy so felt cooler. still, anything in the 40s and im jumping for joy lol. high 48 today. planning on pub again and a good walk, at least 3 miles. but you never know, sometimes the spirit moves me and i do something totally different!

kate, congrats on early taxes. i would put things off it were up to me but my husband is such a regimented guy, he wants to be on time (which to him means EARLY) for everything in life =) i sent all the tax stuff to him and its been done a few weeks already, he efiled.

stephanie - so sorry about your cat. you sound like a busy woman with church newsletter, and did you catch any leprechauns? lol

lisa, indie is good! im enjoying it and using it sometimes 2x a day with the nicer weather. ive folded and put im my moms trunk one for time and it worked out fine. are you going to get it? what color?

maggie, totally commiserating on the weight plateau, ive been stuck at 12 lbs lost for a little while now. so impatient!! and of course my workouts have gotten lighter because my knee was bothering me and i know that didnt help. with everything youre doing i know youll break through that plateau soon! and 21 lbs at 7 mos? woah mama, gotta love the chunksters =) and i actually LOL at the army crawl, thinking my husband would be happy as a pig in &$@% if his son did that...

hi clarissa! how are you recovering?

hi candra!

Hi mommas!

Wendy--No, didn't catch any leprechauns; he got away ;). But he left the boys a sack of gold candy (Rolos) and a little poem. I need to start on the newsletter, but I keep putting it off. (One of my favorite Facebook flairs says: "Procrastinators unite! ... tomorrow" --sadly it's becoming my motto!!) Have fun with PUB!

Kate--Hooray on the taxes! (Wasn't it nice having an extra little deduction this year?!) I'm glad you wrote that, because I need to get some info for DH so he can finish ours!! (See procrastination blurb above.. yep, that's me!)

Maggie--Sorry about the plateau! I've been on a 5-month plateau, so I hear ya, sister! Hopefully, you (and I both) will fly off that plateau soon!! What's in your protein smoothy? I'm totally curious about the spinach/strawberry blend. Can you taste the spinach? I love spinach, but with strawberries???

Lisa--Hope you had fun doing ME. It's one of my favorites. Love the chest section of it. I'm also curious how Jen (Jaypea) is doing.

Becky-- Soooooo, where'd you match to? Didn't you find out today? Hope you're happy with the results!!

Hi to Candra, Jen, Trish, Clarissa and anyone I may have missed!!
-------
Wellllllll, I started the Alternate Day Diet yesterday. Yesterday was my "down" day, where I only ate about 550 calories. Today I eat as I normally would. I thought I would have starved, but I actually felt fine yesterday, and today I don't have an appetite. Maybe I needed this to "shrink my stomach" as we southern women say when we need to shrink our appetites. Now, let's see if that skinny gene will get turned on, as the book promises it will. I didn't get a workout in AGAIN. Things have been SO busy around here. The day is gone before I know it. Charlie is doing well. Eating two solids a day, growing like a weed! He had a temp of 100 last night but seems fine today, so I'm wondering if he's teething. Hoping it's not his ears again. Maggie is doing great, and I am SO happy she's being her old self again.

Hope everyone has a great day!! I'm hoping HOPING I can get a good workout in tonight!! Maybe 4DS kickboxing. Later taters.

wendy, our weather is turning too and its so nice to get out a little more! glad the indie is getting broken in so well!

stephanie, i think i would eat a chair bythe end of the day on that diet! yipes!!!

we must break thru these palteaus!

i just maintained on meso1. i am determined to change my body in m2. its more like gymstyle and i really respond to that. if i dont....well, its all in crappy eating!

did cs athletes intense stretch this morning. doing ellip/cc tonight.

Just a quick stop in to say I MATCHED AT MY #1 SPOT!!!

It's Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. It's a smaller community program with great hours and benefits and they are really good to their residents.

Will be back when I have more time. Things are crazy right now with the trip to Ohio!

Becky

Congrats Becky!!

Steph - Wow 500 calories? What did you eat? I would starve, but I eat like a pig, seriously, even if it's "clean" food.

Kate - I'm curious also to see how the STS process works on different people. So you maintained..does that mean weight or the way your body looks?

Wendy - I want a ruby like yours. Love the red color. I'm also another stuck at current weight. These last 10lbs is taking forever to lose.

I'm so glad the weekend is coming up. I had a fairly busy week, but I have been pretty good about working out so it's been good. Eating...well, let's just say I baked brownies tonight and probably had more than I should have. Overall I'm doing okay calorie wise I think. Anyway, what is everyone's weekend plans???

Lisa

YAY BECKY!!! Great news!

Lisa, Maintained weight.... but Mike is saying he thinks I do look more toned. Says my butt is higher/firmer! LOVE HIM!!! I did work LB pretty hard - squatting and deadlifting pretty heavy. I ADORE deadlifts.
Brownies,,,,evil!:p So good warm w/ ice cream on top!

Yday I did CS in the AM and at night did the VC for 20 min- it was awesome!
STS back/bis today. It says I'm supposed to use a 72# barbell for rows! PSHAW!!! We'll see how THAT goes!

I demand you two to stop talking about brownies!!! I'm going to ruin my keyboard drooling all over it. I gave up chocolate for Lent!!

Becky--Congratulations on your match!! I know you must be SO relieved!

Lisa--You've just got 10 more to lose? That's fantastic!! :) I WISH I were that close to my old weight!! Don't sweat the brownie. Everything in moderation, right?

Kate--Yesterday's workout sounded great! And today's 72-pound rows sound tough!! I struggle with 40!

-----
Well, today is another "down" day on my diet. Wednesday wasn't so bad. I ate probably around 550/600 cal. The book says to eat 20 percent of your normal amount of calories on the "down" days. That's as low as I think I can go. I had a scrambled eggbeaters (about 1/2cup) for breakfast with a little fat free kraft cheese in them and some fresh spinach (approx 100 cal). For lunch I had an apple with 1 TBS of peanut butter (approx 150 cal). For dinner I had about 1/2 cup brown rice with some veggies and 2 oz of 96 percent fat free ground beef (left over from Tuesday's hamburgers) in it (approx 250-300 cal) and for desert a sugar-free vanilla pudding snack (60 cal). Yesterday I had no appetite. I actually made myself drink a slimfast at 4 p.m. because I hadn't had lunch, but nothing sounded good to me. I know it's not the healthiest way of eating, but I just want to see SOME changes on the scales. No change in 5 months is very depressing. So we'll see if this does the trick. Plus, it's really getting me used to not having such HUGE portions, which is my downfall.

Tonight Oliver has soccer practice. Tuesday was Henry's. The practices start at 5:30, but DH can't get there from work until after 6, so I take all three boys to the fields. Let me tell you, carting a baby, a folding chair, water bottle, soccer ball, a 7 and a 4 year old to a field that is pretty far from where we park is not my idea of a good time. But I am excited for the boys to get to play this season. And I really love watching them! Henry's group is a hoot. And Oliver's group is really getting the hang of it. He's a great goalie. I'm glad for the exercise and fresh air. (Just wish I didn't have to lug so much stuff around!!)

Well, I wrote a book again! Sorry, guys! Hope everyone has a great Friday!! Happy First Day of Spring!!

stephanie, i like your books - keep em comin'!
your lo cals amaze me!!! u r dedicated!!
youve got a wo just getting to the field!! what moms must do...:)

i did the rows!!! it was a struggle and im sure i was a rep or two behind cathe but i did it!!!
my wts for m1 were so off but m2 seems to be just right. thank goodness - i was ornery i had taken the time to do them!

Hi ladies--

My shake is easy--1 scoop vanilla protien powder, 1 cup skim milk or plain organic yogurt (or a combo of both), 1 cup of frozen strawberries (partially thawed, 1 big handful of spinach (I can't taste it), and 1tbs of ground flax seed. Whirl in a food processor or blender until thick and creamy. Sometimes I add a small bit of agave nectar, if it feels like it isn't sweet enough. Frozen bananas are good too. Once I put sprouts in it--yucky!

I lost another pound as of yesterday, but today, the scale was up at a weight I haven't seen in a couple of weeks! Intellectually I know it's water, but still....I know I'll be eating badly for at least 24 hours....maybe this will give me the self control to NOT eat badly....probably not. I'll let you know.

Kate--that's right--Jen is missing. I knew I was missing someone. Kate I would be so happy at your plateau--Your current weight is my goal and I'm 2 inches shorter than you, woman:p. But I know we all have to feel comfortable in our own skins. Oooh are you in meso 2 now? I have 2 1/2 weeks of meso 1 and then my rest week before I start meso 2. I can't wait.

Lisa--congrats on the fed taxes done. We got a refund too, but much of it gets stuck away to pay for the ridiculously high property taxes here in the people's republic of Multnomah County....do I sound bitter;)? Good luck on your state taxes.

Stephanie--wow--you and yours are certainly having lots of pet issues--(((hugs)))--Keep us posted on the diet. I lost tons of weight fast after my last baby doing Eat to Live (no meat, no dairy, no refined anything, 1 grain per day and unlimited fruits, veggies, and beans). I ate tons of food and lost tons of weight, unfortunately for the long haul it wasn't really feasible for me to eat that way. I am a foodie and that's probably not going to change.

Wendy--was your dh in the army? Is that why he would be happy at the army crawl? My 14 yo ds is wants to join the army. He wants to be a ranger and a medic or some such. I'll have to post a pic of Gen in all her hugeness. She's like a little buddha:D.

Becky--Way to go woman! All that hard work paying off. You must be so proud and happy right now.:D

Hi Clarissa! Hi Jen M! Hi Candra! Hi Trish (you moved yet?)

Maggie:)

maggie, your shake sounds great!!!
sorry about drama at thescale - i hate that! im trying not to weigh myself. im sure ill gain muscle w/ meso2 and dont want the #s to scare me. i'll measure my fat loss off a certain skirt i have.
dont know if we got a refund or pay yet. i like to pay just a tiny bit....we'll see what happens! our prop taxes are kinda yucky too. i try to be thankful we have prop to pay taxes on and that theres $ to pay said taxes!:D

looking forward to a relaxing evening & gina's friend bday party tomorrow. should be fun! 4 other girls - not bad at all!!!

Maggie--I'm sure it's water weight/muscle swell. When I was super toned the summer before getting preggo, I'd have days like that, usually after a heavy lifting day. I agree with Kate, measure your success by your favorite "skinny" clothes. Your shake does sound yummy! Is it green? I had been wanting to get my nerve up to try the Dr. Oz green shake, but it's way too veggieful for me. I like to chew my veggies, not drink them. But the spinach sounds like it would fade away in the flavor of yours. Yum. What kind of protein powder do you use? Do you eat your smoothie as a meal? As for the diet, I know in my head it's stupid to do ANY kind of "diet." But I suppose desperation causes gals to do stupid things!! I'm only doing this crazy low cal thing for two weeks as the "induction phase." I've NEVER dieted on a Friday night though, so it may get thrown out the window tonight in lieu of a glass of vino and some pasta... Yummy. I need to quit obsessing over my size and just eat cleanly and the weight will eventually come off.

Kate--Have fun at your partay tomorrow!!

maggie - def water weight! no worries! dh is usaf. just sent him out his favorite cookies today. that shake sounds interesting - is it a meal replacement or just a pre-workout shake? ive never used any protein powders although they are mentioned often here on cathe.

kate - love kids b day parties as long as they are not at chuckie cheese and the like... headache central!

lisa - i know that last 10 lbs can be really hard. i am so jealous that you only have 10 lbs to go!! are you thinking of searching around for the 08 or going for the 09 indie?

becky - hooray for your match!

hi to all others!

so today was a wild day - am visit from my FIL in town unexpectedly, a mtg at my sons school, then a 1.5 mile walk around town doing errands, post office and such, another unexpected visit from my grandparents ("we were in the neighborhood..."), then a PLANNED visit with dad! lol, the trail of ppl in and out of my house today. good thing they dont ever see my pigsty of a bedroom.

i had the most horrible for my weight loss / amazingly decadent dinner tonight. its restaurant week here. my dad being in town with his sweetie and knowing im alone, brings me a 3 course meal from after they ate! proscuitto (sp) and figs, a chicken breast stuffed with cheese and spinach with veggies, and profiteroles! omigosh, craziness, this meal and i ate every bite. sorry to drag you all down by detailing my debauchery lol. of course i am overcome with guilt now and had to fight off the urge to work out at 11 at night when the it first set in.

we should all post a recent pic of our lil babes =)

wendy

stephanie, you'll get there! you're doing great!
did yu have the vino & pasta last night? i had a small bowl of ice cream w/ mike:eek::D. part of our fri night ritual. my biggest downfall is the hr before dinner - i have to make a very concious effort to not nibble!

wendy, busy lady! oh my! i bet you slept good last night!!
i cant seem to post pics! i think its my laptop.

gina decided she wants ic sundaes instead of decorating cakes - works for me!! way less cleanup!:D
just made eggs, sausage, fruit & french brkfst muffins for the fam....dutifully ate my kashi , fruit & pb......

Hi ladies--

Well, I ate so much last night that if I ate like this every day, I'd gain 250 lbs in one year:eek::eek::eek::eek:. No kidding. So anyway, I will be good today and tomorrow. I usually cheat a little on weekends, but I just can't now.

Yesterday I did disk 8 second time around and today I plan to do Lowmax with a five lb med ball during the blasts. My back feels fine, but I want to avoid impact just to make sure.

Kate--you are so right about being grateful about having the $ to pay the taxes! I have a daughter that doesn't like cake and wants donuts for her birthday--easy! (She also wants donuts for her wedding:p, but first she needs a groom plus she's only just almost 10:rolleyes:)

Stephanie--I understand the "diet" thing. Sometimes we just need to see those numbers go down a bit to give us the motivation to keep on trying. I use my shake as a post-workout meal and we get the vanilla whey protien powder that costco sells. It's kind of pricey, but it lasts a long time.

Wendy--I'd love to see a pic of everyone's little one:). Where is your husband? Can you say? (sorry, I'm a bit nosey) Is he gone for long? If so, you and Trish have something in common. Your dinner sounded wonderful. At least you ate good food. I ate junk food while watching "The Devil Wears Prada" and "Spiderman 3".

Well, hello to everyone else!

Off to check in with the STS six monthers

Maggie:)

Steph - You sound like me with the whole sports thing with all the kids. I'm so grateful for my baby mei tai carrier so I can have two free hands. How's the diet thing going?

Kate - Yay on the firm butt! My odd's bday is next week and I have to get planning on her cake and gift. I don't do bday parties. I always feel bad, but they stress me out! Luckily both my older kids' bdays falls during school breaks so that's my excuse. Lame one I know, but oh well. The ic sundaes sound like a good idea...

Wendy - I probably get the 09 since it won't be until later this year I can buy one. I like the ruby. Are you a solo parent right now? I thought I read you mailed your DH cookies. I give you tons of credit for that.

Maggie - Sounds like you've been so faithful to your STS plan that a cheat night should be no biggie for you.

Ok, I think my cold is coming back. Yuck! I did RS last night. An oldie but goodie. The blast at the end is so much fun! I think I might do DM today since DH is off. We'll see on time. Ballet and library on plan for today. Oh and cleaning and organizing if I ever get off this computer!

Lisa

Hey all! I only have a quick sec here. Wanted to say that I am all better already. Just 10 days PP and I can walk again w/ no binder for my hips and no cane or walker! I feel so happy, I could burst. And I am obsessed w/ my baby boy. He is the chubbiest. I will post more pics soon, perhaps this week. He has grown chubby already!

Hope all is well w/ all of you and I plan to post more once I get into a routine! I can't wait to workout again w/ Cathe like so many of you are!

Clarissa

party was great but hoooo weeeee am i glad its over.!!! isabels will be in may. g's was 3 hrs.....learned my lesson....all others will be 2 hours!!!!:eek:
can you say oreo attack???!!!! must. do. cardio!

wtg clarissa! julias 5 months and i still just want to sit and smooch her all day long!!:D

maggie, lol re dd/donuts!! cute! she could have a morning wedding w/ brunch afer!:D
sorry abt the food....did pretty awful today myself!

lisa, the mei tai is the one similar to a bjorn isnt it?? im thinking abt a hotsling - all 1 piece/pop baby in.....i think! my bjorn is handier than my moby but the moby is cumbersome for out & about.. i worry abt the bjorn not being friendly on j's spine.....it puts their lowback in an unnatural position. want sthing easy for chicago....
rs - fun!! i did dm this wk and hada great time.

****eta my workouts.... i ran off to nurse last night!
did push pull yesterday for a change of pace. i started the step and weights circuit 2 from sjp/sb but my left quad started feeling funny in the 1st combo and i nixed the cardio. ive never had my QUAD get tweaky...it was like the pins and needles thing i got in my hands and wrists but in my thigh... strange. and it doesnt take much for the cardio hater in me to just move on to weights =) friday i did TJ 20 min workout and 60 min stretch (michelle lemay's spirit flow dance-inspired yoga from netflix, not bad) plus my walk****

kate, i heart oreos! i NEVER buy them, not even for parties in my house, they are as bad as girl scout cookies for me! re: hotsling, i have one and really like it but not for an extended time, my moby-style wrap is way more comfy for a few hrs at a time even tho its a pain in the rear in some ways. the hotsling pulls at my shoulder after a while but def much easier in and out, not dealing with all the extra wrap fabric. pros and cons to each...and i also tried a mei tai that i returned. for me it didnt work well, wasn't comfy but im sure depends on each of our body types, sounds like lisa loves hers.

maggie, my husband is in the states but unfortunately nowhere near me =( and the base hes at is tiny and not much housing avl so its unclear if i can really get out there at all. he doesnt want us staying off base. i thought trish mentioned a military husband... she hasnt checked in for a while...

lisa - yup, solo until june. halfway mark was this weekend. i try to send cookies or something fun from home at least every other week. donno how much credit i deserve, though... i always slack off on certain thing when hes gone! like right now im sleeping with a pile of laundry on his side of the bed! lol!

sounds like most of us have fallen off the wagon at least once re: eating well this weekend. well get right back on - we always do!

hi becky! hi clarissa!

babys crying out for a boob...

Kate - The mei tai has a learning curve, but I love it because my baby loves it and its pretty comfy for me. Not like the bjorn at all in the sense that the support for baby is much better. If you're looking for more convenience, then go for the Beco or Ergo. Pricey, but a nice compromise between a Mei Tai and a bjorn, but much better for baby then a bjorn IMO. It's considered a "soft, structured carrier where it works like a mei tai but has buckles for easier use of putting on and off. I was looking at the hotsling also so let me know what you think of it if you do get it.

Wendy - You have every reason in the world to have laundry laying on the bed! Do you have a gauze wrap? I'm thinking of getting or making one. Thanks for the hotsling review. I thought about it, but wasn't sure.

Off for a morning walk and then hoping to be somewhat productive today. Trying to get through my paper clutter at home.
