What's gonna happen to me when I stop using Splenda?

I know it causes a lot of people problems on many levels. I think it's aiding to my sugar additions. Its hard to think of my morning cup of joe without it. But, I really feel like I should stop using it.

I usually use two in each of three cups of coffee.

When I give it up , will I go into convulsions or what? Maybe I should taper off.....dropping down to one per cup.

Ideas please.

How about switching to Truvia or another stevia based sweetener? That way you could have the sweet flavor from a more natural source.

Hey, Ladies. I tried Truvia once. I had to use twice as much for the same flavor as Splenda. Is that normal?

Thanks for responding.

I used to be a Splenda junkie too. I had probably 6-7 packets a day easily. Then I started using the pure stevia extract from Trader Joe's and I will never ever go back to using Splenda again! It's a lot sweeter than Splenda so you don't need as much, and it doesn't have that nasty aftertaste that Splenda has. Also, I didn't notice any weird withdrawals or anything.

I switched from Splenda to Truvia and Purvia with no issues, and I actually like them better. Try Purvia instead, the texture is more like splenda, so maybe there is more "sweetness" in each pack.

I also think, you can get used to having less sweetness in the coffee, I moved down to half a pack in a cup, but I don't think I could ever go totally without.

Why use any sweetener at all?

Just as you get used to the sweet flavor of foods and beverages because of sugar and sweeteners, you can get used to the unsweetened flavor items.

Is there a difference between Splenda and Stevia? Is Splenda Nutrasweet? Stevia is a natural sweetener, so go to that.

Katerchen is so very wise:

I proved it to myself. I now drink coffee without sugar or cream. Oh my, talk about the flavor the sweeteners hide. Full body coffee is the way to go.

I now love my steel cut oats; first I put 1/3 c. into a sauce pan without any fat. Put it on high, stir until golden brown, then put it in 1 c. of boiling water and put on simmer for 30 min. While it is cooking I fry 2 egg whites in virgin coconut oil. When it's done I put that in a bowl and when the oats are done I put that on top of it. Oh my! My taste buds really got use to that. I eat this every single day, so healthy for you.

We all make habits for ourselves, I like to try to make them healthy.
