Cathlete
Hi all,

I'm in a bit of a rut...I haven't worked out for a month (Gosh, I hated just typing that line.) The funny thing is, my DH has recently been saying things like, "Wow, you've lost weight again." and that my legs look "Great!". I've lost the bulk, I guess, that I built with 4DS. (The last rotation I did.)

My goal is to lose the fat I have around my midsection - front and back. That is the only place that I feel I have excess fat. Toning would also be nice, but my muscle definition should come back pretty quickly once I get back into the swing of things.

My DH thinks I would be better off doing cardio only. I don't think I could do without some weight lifting, but I'm considering just one day a week of Total Body. Also, he thinks doing treadmill (walking or walk/run) only. I don't think I could stick to just treadmill.
And to also incorporate some yoga/pilates and stretching. (This is were I put the disclaimer: my DH is not a fitness instructor, he's just changed up HIS routine from all weightlifting to weights/cardio with very noticeable results, and decided I should try it, too!)

So I'm throwing this out there to everyone here - what do you think? Is he right? Or can I incorporate my Cathe workouts into a rotation of pure cardio, maybe once a week of weights? Or is that going way overboard.....I don't know which way to go right now.

TIA,
Tricia

My 2 cents....

I think you should continue to lift weights. Lean muscle burns fat and I think a good mix of the two (cardio and weight lifting) will do the trick. If your body responds better to a rotation that includes more cardio go for it but I'd say do at least 2 total body workouts a week instead of just one. Just my opinion. Im sure others will chime in and give their advice. HTH

Hi Tassha,

Yeah, I agree with you on the two days of Total Body. That would also give me a mental break from the cardio as well as a physical break. I'm browsing my DVD's today to come up with a fun rotation.

BTW, did I just read somewhere that you work out at MIDNIGHT? How do you do that if you're a stay at home Mom, as I am? I've been "meaning to" get up before my kids do and work out then, but it just never happens. Do you workout for an hour, wash up, then go to bed? I guess I'm just awed by the very idea!

Thanks again,
Tricia

lol hey Tricia,
Well my 5 month old goes to bed for the night at midnight and doesnt get up till around 8 that morning. Im not really a morning person so 5 and 6am workouts would suck for me. Midnight is my only down time with a little one and a 5yr old boy with special needs.

Hey Tassha,
I was up last night at midnight, and thought to myself "I bet Tassha's doing her workout right about now....More power to you, girl!" You seem to have embraced the credo of Do what you can, when you can and leave the rest.

Take care of those precious ones, 5 years and 5 months old - WOW. You are busy!
