Hi Everyone,

I have been doing the FIRM since January but after reading your replies to Diane's post I decided that I really want to commit to a Cathe-based program. I have lost about 90lbs total, 30lbs of which I lost since I started the FIRM. I still need to lose about 40lbs more. I was pretty happy with the FIRM in that it really got me into exercising, and I do have some muscle that I didn't have before. The FIRM has helped me tone up my calves and my biceps, but everything else is not shaping up. For the life of me I can't seem to gain any muscle tone in my chest.

I have about $100 to spend on Cathe DVDs and I don't know what to choose. I've thought about getting the CTX series, but I am used to doing total body weight workouts 3 times a week and cardio + abs 3 times a week. I am not sure how I feel about the idea of working only one body part a day. I will probably keep doing the FIRM as well, and since those workouts are total body I won't know how to mix them into a rotation.

I've also thought about getting the 3 Body Blast DVDs, the 3 Intensity Series DVDs OR the BB Time Saver + The Terminator. I know whatever I buy will be great, but I am terrible at making a decision like this. I've been lurking and window shopping on the site for months and will continue to sit on the fence until I get some advice. HELP! :)

As for equipment, I have a full size step with 8 risers (it'll get to 12 inches), a fanny lifter, 2#-10# dumbells, an 8# body bar, a 6# medicine ball, and a stability ball. I have been planning on buying a barbell set for a while and have decided to get the Troy light after reading all of your rave reviews. I will be getting the high step topper as well. BTW, I also have the Classics DVD and have been doing one of Cathe's step workouts on my cardio days.

I know I probably can't make a wrong choice here. I am usually not this indecisive but I don't really know that much about fitness and I need some moral support. I've asked other people for advice and they tell me to keep doing what I'm doing or to do more cardio. I am just not sure how to reach my goals. So...what would you suggest?

THANKS
XOXO

Hi Frankie! Well, first of all congratulations on your success! You're doing super!!!

Now I read in your post that you're already doing Cathe's step workouts. That's great. So you are familiar with her workouts and are doing them.

Here's my recomendation: the dvd with Cardio & Weights and IMax2. Cardio & Weights is the most "Firm-like" of all of Cathe's workouts & IMax2 is a wonderful challenge. You can start off slowly and work your way up with this one. But IMHO, nothing beats interval training at helping you lose weight.

The other suggestions is CTX. The dvds are incredibly versatile. I almost never do just one body part per day. Usually I do chest & back one day and then biceps, triceps & shoulders the next. The beauty of dvds is that you can mix them up very easily. CTX also offers your just the entire upper body workout by itself.Cathe's weight work is not like the Firm - you really work each muscle hard so you will want to give your muscles a rest in between workouts.

Check out all of the premixes available on these dvds - you'll have lots of variation!

I have to say though, that it really doesn't matter which workouts you buy now...because, like the rest of us, you'll probably buy them all! LOL!

Frankie you're doing GREAT!! Good for you!! I also would suggest the Intensity series for now. I'm also a Firm to Cathe convert, and I recently made my WW goal! I also dropped three whole sizes in the time since I've started doing Cathe!!! I've lost 38 pounds, 38 inches, and six sizes in six months on WW, and most of those results came when I switched from the Firm to Cathe! I too was reluctant to work only one body part at a time with CTX, but you know what? It turned out to be just fine! I do the Intensity series and Pure Strength a lot now, so I tend to train more than one body part per day. The gains in my strength have been amazing!!! And I have my aerobic endurance back from doing Cathe!!! I have had such amazing results from her workouts that I will never return to the Firm or FitPrime. In fact, I've given away most of the tapes! So, whatever you decide to purchase, I know you'll be thrilled with her, and will soon want to have them all!!

Hello Frankie. Well I'd say the Cathe video series that I keep on using and using rotation after rotation is CTX. The reason is it's versatility. I have the videos (not the DVDs) and I still manage to mix CTX cardio with PS Series, CTX cardio with one S&H body part, running and 2CTX body parts etc. When I replace my videos with DVDs that's the first Cathe set I'm going to buy. I hate to say it, but you will love Cathe to the point you're going to get all her videos so I'd say get CTX now and the newer ones (IS series and BB series) later.

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for your suggestions and advice! I decided to get the CTX series since it got so many votes and the Bootcamp/ME DVD since that one really looks like a booty-kicker.

XOXO

Frankie,

You won't be sorry. Good choices! ME is a great full-body workout, and you can uase the timesaver version, and the upper only and the lower only. The abs on ME are kick-@ss!

Oh, yes! I LOVE the ab work in ME!!! I do it as an extra ab workout all the time! And don't get me started in the biceps work - I think it's the toughest to date! Wow!!!
