Thats a tough one to answer.I have wasted alot of money in the past on non-cathe tapes and they are always so disappointing.Gin Miller is o.k and I have bought CIA videos and never, ever do them! But I am the type of person who doesn't like change.I'm boring:)
The only thing that I have gotten into is Mindy Mylera videos.I just ordered two.I have done one so far but haven't tried the other one yet.Thats an option for you.
Other then that....I better stay out of this one b/c the two types that you have listed aren't one of my favorites.I would say that it is a good thing that there is more then one person who answers question around here cause I ain't much of a help;(

Intense Moves is a pretty good video. I also like the first two step videos Gin did but I have to say never have time to do them now that I'm knee deep in Cathe.

Really I kinda have to say if you went ahead and got another couple Cathe's or one more Cathe I could see why. Nobody beats here at all.

Do you have Power Max? It's a riot if you don't

Looks like it is Intense Moves (I had hoped Janis might get a vote or two !).

Hey Anna,

I didn't vote because I want a DON'T BUY ANYTHING NON-CATHE button! LOL I say stick with her & you can't go wrong. As Cathe would say, just a suggestion, take it or leave it.

Hi,
I have Intense Moves, Ive viewed it but have never done it even though I really like Gin Miller--it looks like a fun w/o-- very much in the line of Imax

I also bought Janis--Kickbox Strike Zone, and viewed it once. It looked like a great w/o, except she kept asking something like "how ya doing" at least every two minutes!!! Drove me nuts, so I traded it away w/o ever trying it.

Never done a CIA, so I cant comment--so I would say--STICK TO CATHE hee hee!!

Good Luck
Jayne

Anna,
For a new tape I would stick to Cathe too. I have a jump rope (intend to use it--high ceilings too) and a bike (went for a ride yesterday).

But as for a tape, how about Christi Taylor's Hi-Lo Heaven? It's great!

Just so we don't work Cathe into the ground- she needs her rest too! Heehee

I do not know if I can be of much help. The only one I have that is up h ere is Reebok Intense Moves and it is one of the few non Cathe videos I have not gotten rid of. I recently bought Christi Taylor's Totally Cool step and really like that, it took me awhile to learn the choreography though. I was close to becoming frustrated with it, but never give up a challenge even if I have to pop it in every day at the end or beginning of my workout to try and learn the moves. Still I find it fun and like the music.

I have Intense Moves and I never use it so I couldn't give Gin a vote.

Also have several of Janis Saffell's tapes, and they're okay. (It's hard to find kickbox tapes.) I recently purchased Strike Zone through her web site, and I've been using it on weekends.

Have to go along with the vote for Christi Taylor. I have most, if not all, of her hi/lo and step tapes and love them. Her choreography is dancy and can be complicated, but she's an excellent instructor and obviously enjoys what she's doing. Her tapes are fun and the music is good.

Good luck with your choice. I'm trying to decide on new kickbox videos myself, but I haven't figured out where to plunk down my funds yet.

Thanks Everyone,

I think I will go for Intense Moves, it always gets alot of praise. I am looking for non-Cathe workouts to slot in between Cathe, especially for days when the bone down the front of my calf aches, from my bulk (I feel like the Incredible Hulk sometimes, though I am not green or muscley  ) and the impact. Oh to be light on my feet..........! sigh.......

Might consider Christy Taylor though, I forgot about her floor aerobic videos ..........

I really like both Extreme Step and Intense Moves. IM is more interval in nature. It's also pretty close to Cathe's intensity level. If you go all out on IM, you can get a great workout. I think ES is a really fun workout. If Cathe is a 10 intensity, this one is about a 7/8. It's not broken out intervally as much as IM, but ES has this really creative sideways push-up that I absolutely love.

I also like the Terrie Reeves Bootcamp/Kickbox tape. Once again, not as intense as Cathe, but still a great workout. If you are looking for a tape that will really work your core muscles, then this is the one.

I'd stay away from Janis if I were you. Her workouts are not intense, and she always seems to be moving a few counts off-beat of her music in her workouts. There is not a natural flow to her cueing or to her choreography. I kind of don't get her popularity. But this is just my opinion.

Go ahead and get a few of the videos. If you don't like them trade on videofitness or firm ya-ya, or sell them on Ebay.

Don't you just love the way I'm spending your money for you. :p
