What will NEVER be on your ipod?

Ok for me its:

Billy Ray Cyrus (or anything that remotely sounds like him)
Actually anything country (except Johnny Cash)
Nickelback:)
Avril Lavigne
Rush
Peter Paul and Mary
Usher!!
Jimmy Buffett (sorry buffettgirl)
Ratt
White Snake
Guns and Roses

You get the idea:)
Carolyn

Strangely, Nickelback:p
Anything country
Anything classic rock
Barry Manilow
System of a Down
Neil Young

The list could go on for a long time.

Ahhhh. I have been wounded to the quick. And I love Peter, Paul and Mary too.

That's OK. There is enough room in Catheland for all kinds.

You will never find opera or fusion jazz on my IPod. Who am I fooling. I don't even have an iPod. Or an MP3 thingie.

Anyone who has EVER been a contestant on American Idol
Nickel Back
Josh Groban
Celine Dion
Whitney Huston
Neil Diamond
John Mayer
Barry Manilow
Def Lepard
Justin Timberlake
Metallica
Any Christian Rock (an oxymoron?)
Pseudo opera (Charlotte Church and that blind guy)
Bad psuedo-country: Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Mullet-boy Cyrus, Rascal Flatts, etc.
Fake jazz (think Kenny G)
Any mood cd like "Celtic Dreams" or "Rainforest Dance" that you find at Target
Rush
Lynard Skynard (and their sister, Molly Hatchet)
Duran Duran
Brandi, Tiffany, Madonna, etc.
Spice Girls, Pussy Cat Sluts, etc.
Toby Keith
that redneck duo where one of them killed a bear that he bought (just another reason other than their "music" to hate them.)
Bands and/or "singers" who are liked more for their dancing, looks, or clothes than their singing and musical abilities.

Since I don't have an Ipod (yet!), it's kind of a moot question for me. But, if I ever get one, there will not be any:

Twangy "my girl took truck, and she left me. Ran over my dog on the waaay." country music. (something 'crossover' might make the cut: after all, I used to listen to the Eagles, and was in a state of shock when I read that they were a 'country' band).

Heavy metal

Christian music

Songs with too-explicit sexual lyrics (seems like singers don't know about innuendo anymore and just say it straight up) having to do with licking something or putting something somewhere.

Number one on the list: JOHN MAYER!

then just a few in no particular order:

Celine Dion
Justin Timberlake
Britney Spears
Lindsay Lohan
Hillary Duff
Nelly
Cisco
Lifehouse
Norah Jones
Sheryl Crowe
Kid Rock
Dave Matthews
Creed
Beyonce

I'll have to give this some thought, but at the moment Robin Thicke comes to find. I hate his stupid falsetto!!!

Amy

most country music
(the Eagles are considered country, really???? well shut my mouth wide open!)
gangsta rap
Creed
Celine Dione
Hinder (that Lips of an Angel song makes me want to rip my ears off and stomp on them)
Nickelback
Shania Twain (wait, I guess that's country, which I've already covered)
gospel music
smooth jazz

Nothing country for me.
I actually had kids bop on my ipod for awhile. For DS.
We ended up buying him a cheap mp3 player and now he has his own to put that Kidz bop stuff on.
You most likely will never find slow music on my IPOD because I mainly use my for w/outs and I need loud upbeat music.
LD

Pretty much everyhting on Liann's and Shelley's list.

I'll throw in John Tesh and Yanni for good measure. Where's the barfing smiley?

>Hinder (that Lips of an Angel song makes me want to rip my
>ears off and stomp on them)

AMEN!!!! The country version is even worse though! x(

Virtually all country pop music (exceptions made from the classics like Patsy Cline)
Anyone from American Idol or other TV show
A large swath of pop music
Hinder (the records execs must be smoking crack)
Akon (a no talent A-List moron)
Nickelback (Oh Canada! You're killing me!)
a large swath of rap and hip hop (I prefer old school--Sugar Hill Gang, Beasties, etc)

Like Shelley, I am a music snobbola. At age 10 I discovered Led Zeppelin and the Yardbirds and soon devoured a huge 60s and 70s music catalog as a mere child. I had probably about a thousand cassettes before hitting my teenage years. I've listened to punk, metal, and their related sub genres. I also like good dance music (which could include any number of genres) and love jazz (right now addicted to Coltrane, Brubeck, John Scofield, Shamika Copeland) and classical (love Shostkovich and Liszt), as well as blues. You'll likely find me at jam band festival such as Bonnaroo, Gathering of the Vibes, or the Newport Jazz Fest as well as the occasional classical performance.

Basically, if you hearing it on the radio, seeing it on tv, or hearing people talk about it at the water cooler it probably stanks....in my opinion of course.

Amy, who is Robin Thicke? He sings in falsetto???
I agree with Celine Dion and anyone from American Idol.
I have to add Jethro Tull to my list too. I hate that rock flute stuff!!
And the theme song from Miami Vice or Beverly Hills cop will never be on my ipod!!!:)

I figured you and Shelley (and a few others) were in that elite group that are into music at a higher level. (I don't read Shakespeare either, but I enjoyed it in highschool :)) Sometimes I am just too lazy to listen to anything challenging.

I cannot handle jazz - I have been told it is a musician's music. To me it is like I am listening to people speak in a different language and they are laughing and having a good time and I just feel left out! LOL

I was never into music at such a young age, but both my DS and DH (and various friends) consumed every type of music they could get their hands on so I was exposed to lots of stuff, I just didn't get bitten by anything.

There are a few genres I am not fond of, but I often find a few songs I like in everything.

is not an act but a habit.

Most any country aka I slept with your wife and kicked your dog music

Debbie

I'm not gaining weight. I'm retaining food.

Corrie - I am definitely NOT into music at a higher level at all! I love just about everything (well, except Nickelback). Growing up there was music on in my house all the time. Classical for my mom and mostly crooners for my dad (Frank, Tony, Ella...). My musical tastes are all over the map. I can, however, be a bit opinionated when I don't like something;)

Some people just aren't into music and that's a-okay....as long as they don't make me listen to Hinder. I'd rather hear Dr. Hook ;-) I have heard many agree with you on jazz but some reason it caught on with me.

I tease my SO about his pedestrian taste in music....and listening to the old people's channel. Was I shocked when I caught him listening to Flyleaf--very metal for his taste for sure.
