What was Your First Dance song at your Wedding?

"Woke up this mornin' got myself a gun", poppa didn't tell ya, you were the chosen one"....:7 :7 Just KIDDING!! Actually that would have been quite fitting for my first marriage.

I walked down the "aisle" actually our stairs, to the Fiddler on the Roof's "Sunrise, Sunset." The amazing man I married is Jewish, and his 4'10 feisty little grandma used to break out in song, anywhere, anyplace and this was her absolute favorite! Gosh, I am so grateful I finally found such a wonderful human being to share my life with!

:)

At the church it was Lord Lift Us Up Where We Belong. It was a Catholic Church and had to be religious so the words were changed.
Our first song at the reception was I only have eyes for you. Always reminds me of Burger King but DH insisted!

"Starting Tonight" by Alabama. Very nice song and haven't even heard it since -- I think our DJ left with our CD.
I got married when I was 19. 9 years (this 4th of July), 3 girls, and a brand new house later we are still on our honeymoon!!!! :)

My wedding was in Feb 1993 and it was the Robin Hood theme song (GAG!!!). My BF insisted so I put up with it. My DH and I wanted an Alice in Chains song, but alas we did not get our way! :)

We got married Sept 1, 2001....We danced to Lenny Kravitz - I Belong To You.

You are the flame in my heart
You light my way in the dark
You are the ultimate star

You lift me from up above
Your unconditional love
Takes me to paradise

I belong to you
And you
You belong to me too

You make my life complete
You make me feel so sweet

You make me feel so divine
Your soul and mind are entwined
Before you I was blind

But since I've opened my eyes
And with you there's no disguise
So I could open up my mind

I always loved you from the start
But I could not figure out
That I had to do it everyday

So I put away the fight
Now I'm gonna live my life
Giving you the most in every way

DH and I danced to "Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Brothers. It was also the same song that DH asked me to dance to before we started dating.

Nancy....Was it the Claudine Longet version? When I was a kid, my parents had an Andy Williams album with her singing it. It was the first time I'd ever heard that song, and I LOVED the part where she sang in French... I felt sooo sophisticated!:)

After dating for 6 years and being engaged for 2 more, we appropriately danced to "It Had to be You."

Once In Love With Amy

We had a Mel Torme version that was just perfect... DH had listened to it several times and knew when to swoop me! I was so surprised.:D

We didn't have dancing, either, but we did have two songs during the ceremony, and now whenever they come on while we are playing our CD's, we have to dance to them! :)

They are not well-known songs... they were written and recorded by Peter Mayer, an independent folk artist that we like.

One is called "Holy Now" (basically expressing joy and wonder at life, one verse: "I remember feeling sad/ Miracles don't happen still/ But now I can't keep track/ 'Cause everything's a miracle...")

The other is "Now touch the air softly". It is a musical arrangement of a famous love poem by William Jay Smith.

Our first song was " I Swear" by John Michael Montgomery. That was 12 years ago, and still going strong :)

Ours was 'Never My Love' by The Association. Although we got married almost 10 years ago (in November), I've always been a fan of the oldies, plus the lyrics are beautiful.
