What type of shoes...

I wear Nike running shoes which I run in and also use for aerobics/step. Do you recommend a different pair for each? My feet have been uncomfortable lately doing aerobics but I have no problem when I run. I am not partial to any brand...

Thanks!
Stephanie

Try to stay away from the running shoes for step. You want to use sneakers that are made for lateral movement.

I started looking today and am looking forward to feeling more comfortable during my workouts. Currently I am looking at the Ryka brand. Is there anyone out there who is familiar with this shoe?

Thanks!

Actually I just bought my first pair of Ryka's two days ago and used them the last two mornings. Though they will take some breaking in, they do offer much better lateral support than my previous cross training shoe. I only had the Ryka CX available to me, but I see there are others online... Good luck!

I trail run, treadmill run and do step aerobics. Oh, also, I love Cathe's circuit workouts. Is there a single shoe that works for all? Or should I get running shoes for running and something else for step aerobics?

Thanks,
April

Hi April,

I think that you need different shoes for each of these activities since they all require a different type of support for your feet. You could try cross trainers, but I think that most experts recommend getting a specific running shoe since cross trainers aren't designed to support the heavy pounding of running.

I've been using a Ryka studio shoe for my Cathe workouts, and I really like it. It gives great support for step, hi/low, and weight training.

HTH!
