What to sub for lower body add-on from Basic Step?

Hi all -

I am working thru the official beginner rotation, and one workout that is used frequently is the lower body add-on from Basic Step.

I really do not like this workout (sorry Cathe! I swear, its the only one I have done that I haven't loved!). I feel like all the leg lifts are too "isolating" and also, my leg muscles tend to seize up when doing the inner thigh portion.

I tried to work thru weeks 1-3 with it, but I just realized it pops up again in weeks 4-6. Does anyone have any recommendations on what I can use as a substitute? I am ok w/ just a list of exercises if necessary, but I'd prefer to do something from the DVDs...here is what I have:

Low Impact Series (all DVDs)
Body Blast Series (all DVDs)
Basic Step
Body Fusion
Low Impact Step
Total Body Sculpting

Any input is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks! :)

I'm not familiar with the beginner workouts. I will suggest the the leg and glutes workout from the body blast series could easily be a beginner. There is standing section (you could do without heavy weights) and the floor work without ankle weights.

I'm at a advance level but still like the Body Blast series. I up the weights to give me a good workout

Congrats on your continued dedication. Maybe someone with more Cathe knowledge can give you some advise (I"ve only been using her stuff for about 6 months)

Try using the lower body section from total body trisets in the low impact series. That's a nice lower body workout that is challenging but definitely doable, and it clocks in at around 36 minutes including warm up and cool down.

Hi all - I just wanted to update you guys.

I decided to sub the 23 min lower-body section of the LIS DVD, Total Body Trisets. In case anyone else is looking for a similar sub as what I was needing, I highly recommend this!

My daughter is a cheerleader and I have her do that exact premix from Total Body Trisets for her lower body conditioning. She loves it because it's doable, but you feel it. And not incredibly long either!!
