What to do in the morning

Dear Cathe,
Somtimes I like to add a 30-40 min. run on the treadmill in addition to doing one of your weight workouts. However, I don't always have the time in the morning to do both the weight workout and the run. Is it better to do weights in the morning and the cardio later in the day or vice versa? Thanks for your help.

Hi,
Not Cathe, but I prefer to do weights in the morning and cardio later in the day. I'm not sure if it really matters which order you do them in but my reasons are:
-I have more energy in the afternoon/evening to do cardio--weights are easier for me in the morning for some reason
-I dread doing weights so I prefer to get them over with early in the day. If I weight until the afternoon I'm more likely to find a reason not to do them.
-I've read that weights increase your metabolism more than cardio so I figure it's good to do them early in the morning so my metabolism is revved for the day (and all the eating I do!)
Just my two cents. I'd like to know Cathe's opinion, though!
 
Hi Beth! While you may hear various opinions about this, I say you get best results doing it when it works best for YOU. Focus and hard work equals results no matter when you do it....whats MOST important is that you DO do it!
