Sorry if this has been asked before, but my goal is to wake up at 4:30am , but every time my alarm clock goes off this early, I think to myself WTH was I thinking last night when I set this clock!!! So then I turn it off and go back to sleep. What time do you ladies workout? Any tips on how to MAKE MYSELF GET OUT OF BED!!! Please help!!!!   :)

I workout in the morning after my DD & DS leave for school usually around 7:00. Before kids, I would get up at 5:00am and head to the gym with DH before work.

I still have days when I wake up and think maybe I'll just skip today but after a cup of coffee I usually change my mind. Like today for example, it is almost 10:00am and I'm still playing around on this forum }(

I better get busy! It's an elliptical & core max workout day for me.

Don't beat yourself up if you hit that snooze button...just get your workout in whenever you can:)

I work out after my kids get on the bus, which is 8:00. I really prefer mid-morning, but too many things get in the way and I am tired of giving myself excuses!

Good luck. I used to get up that early to go to the gym every day. It's not bad at all once you get used to it.

No tips on getting out of bed, sorry. I'm NOT a morning person!! I like to sleep 'til 8 ;-) That being said, I ususally work out in the early afternoon (after lunch). I have 3 little kids and I homeschool, so it's challenging to do it at any other time. That's the nap/quiet time, and it works well. I prefer to workout in the late morning, but with schoolwork, that's rare. Sometimes I have to work out in the evenings, too, depending on the schedule that day. If you're too tired to get up and work out in the morning, listen to your body and find something else that works with your schedule!

I usually work out around 5am and I can completely empathize on how hard it is to get out of bed. I would much rather work out in the afternoon. Once my body has had a few hours to warm up I just feel like I can do a lot more. Unfortunately, once the morning is gone too many other things crop up and I feel I'm in danger of not getting my workout in at all--so I stick to my 5am routine(usually;-) )

Amen, sister! I've tried the morning workout, but it doesn't work for me (except on weekends when getting up is around 9 or 10.)

I'm an after-work workout gal myself...which is good in that, sometimes my body is craving it after a busy day and hours at the computer. PLUS, I don't have a time limit like I would in the morning.

Find what works best for you!

I used to workout in the morning. My new work schedule has made it necessary for me to work out at night. I COULD do it in the AM but I know that I am not about to be up at 4:30 to get it done. :)

I am lucky though. My evenings are 100% mine from the time I get home (usually 5:15 or so) until nearly 8pm as my DH works long hours and I have no kids except those with 4 legs and fur.

When I did workout in the AM, I started by just getting out of bed for a week or so. That was it. Get myself up at the time I knew I had to. I drank coffee, made my lunch, picked up a room, whatever.

That really helped. My body had a chance to get used to getting up that early.

Once I had actually moved to working out these things helped me out.

1. I stil had a small cup of coffee before my workout and I made it the night before so all I had to do was pour the cup and go.
2. I had my clothes out and ready to throw on.
3. I had my DVD loaded, weights and HRM ready to go.
4. I grabbed my water and headed to my workout room.

I hope some of this helps.

Enjoy! :7

Hi, Luvmylabs,

I don't usually workout in the early morning, but sometimes I must.

I make sure I get to sleep early the night before by winding down. I have hot herbal (no caffiene, of course) tea and take a hot shower. Sometimes I'll read the paper in bed after this, but usually the hot shower is enough.

4:30 is REALLY early. Could you sleep until 5:00 or even 4:45 and still make your day? Sometimes just 15 extra minutes and your body is more agreeable.

Good luck,

bhappy

Oh, dear! I had better edit to add...
not too much tea!! It will wake you in the middle of the night for a trip to the bathroom, and that doesn't make Miss Sunshine in the morning!

Sorry, I have no tips on getting out of bed early. But if you want tips on how to get ready quickly in the morning after hitting a snooze button 4 times, I'm your gal!

I start my workout between 5:00 and 6:00 (that's P.M., no way in h-e-double toothpicks am I getting up early to workout!). Works for me!

I workout at 6 a.m. Took a little getting used to in the beginning but my body is so accustomed to it now, I get up even before the alarm goes off.

Thanks everyone for replying,

My goal is to work out before I wake my DD up at 6 am for school. she has to be at school at 7:25am.. Then I have my 2 year old at home with me, and I can't workout until his nap, well by then I want to take a nap too. since my husband works all day until 6pm, I have no time to myself at night, as I have to get dinner and the kids ready for bed, by then I am exhausted. I do use my local YMCA, but I only go to use the treadmill, as I hate waiting in line for a weight machine, so I do all my weights and step workouts at home. if I dont get up at 4:30 am, by the time I do wake up at 6 with my daughter, I feel like my window of opportunity has passed. So sometimes I will just go to the YMCA. I have just had my thyroid medication adjusted to a higher dose in the last week, so maybe I wont be so tired by the time my son's nap time rolls around and I can workout then. :) :)

When my twins were young I did workout in the morning to Denise Austin. After almost 1 year of Cathe and the devotion to a long workout I w/o as soon as I pick up my girls from school, while they empty backpacks, take a shower do and homework then I take a quick shower & make dinner. If I am making something long for dinner I workout while it is cooking or hubby grills a lot so sometimes I w/o while waiting for the coals and he takes the kids outside to play. My hubby is a huge huge huge help with the kids and letting me get my workouts in. I do not eat breakfast and I have tried to workout in the morning I get really nauseated and crampy and can not do a good workout.

I work out at 5am. After months of doing this, I'm use to it now. But what I do is I put the alarm clock on the other side of the room so I have to get out of bed and walk over to turn off that annoying beeping noise. I also make sure that I put out my workout clothes the night before so I don't have to rummage for them when I am trying to wake up.

I am a SAHM with a p/t job so my work out schedule can change as often as my underwear does! LOL If I am working out at the gym it USUALLY in the morning around 9-10am. This is only on days that I don't have to work. If I am working out at home on non-work days it's usually at DS' nap time which is 11:30-???. If I am working it's always in the morning so home work outs are again at nap time and if I want to fit the gym in, it's in the early evening 5-6pm. On rare occasions I will work out at home in the evenings after dinner but that is extremely rare these days.

I used to work out after dinner every day before DS was born! I could NEVER get up before dawn to work out before going to work!

I workout in the evenings after work from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. If I worked out in the morning, I would have to get up at 3:30 am and I just couldn't manage that. On weekends I workout twice a day but I usually sleep in until 8:00 and do a weight workout in the morning. I'm single, so the only person I have to worry about is myself (which is enough sometimes). If I absolutely had to workout in the mornings, I would. Working out is something that I couldn't just give up. You need to schedule your workout time as you would anything else in your life. That's the only way to do it.

I work out in the morning, most days I start between 7:15 and 7:45 but my work hours are very flexible. I've always preferred working out in the a.m.

Take Care
Laurie:)
