What sports if any?

What sports, if any, are you intersted in, take place in, do for recreation, watch on t.v., etc..
I like to play golf, not that I play it all that often, but I played with my family last summer and had such a great time. I now love it, and can't wait to go back up north to play with them again.
I also like to watch the Vikings play, win or lose, but winning is more fun.
I used to swim on the High school swim team, but now just do it for fun.
I long to play softball again, I used to play for the community that I grew up in. Played for 12 years. But I don't know of any teams that I can join. Oh well.

How about all of you? Now that the weather is nice I thought this might be a fun thread.

I plan on learning how to cycle (to keep up with my DH) and go hiking when I move to the Reno/Lake Tahoe area in a few weeks. There isn't much to do here in small town south Louisiana, so I am psyched to try all kinds of new sports, especially skiing this winter.

Lori :)

I'm a hard core recreational skier (I live in Vermont). It's definitely a sport that I'm passionate about.

I took up golf a few years ago. It was fun until I decided I should try to get better at and took lessons}( }( . It's been a love-hate relationship ever since. Golfer friends of mine tell me I've reached my "growth" phase and that it'll get better soon. Oh well...at least the shoes are cute.;-)

I love cross-country skiing, biking and diving. I sometimes play tennis and racquetball, or swim laps in the pool. I don't really play these as sports, they're just activities to me. I don't care who wins, I hate to watch or even listen to people talk about team sports, unless it's a local thing and they are people I know who play or coach soccer or something.

I did gymnastics for 9 years, and still love to watch it, all levels. Ice Skating is a close second. Colorado Avalanche Hockey fan as well, can't really say I'm hockey fan (since I only care about the avs) but we have season tix for the AVS and I love them. Just won game 4 in the 2nd overtime last night. YEAH
Riding bikes and rollerblading with my kids, and running. My favorite thing to watch are my boys' baseball games, and karate, skateboarding, biking at the skate park.

My only sport is hiking and backpacking which unfortunately I only get to do once a year now with the family. But time was when it was just me and hubby as boyfriend when we did trips hiking in Europe, Africa, South America, and out west in Montana, Wyoming, Oregon, the Washington Cascades, climbed Mt. Rainier, Mt. Hood, Mt. Baker, etc, etc for 6 whole weeks!!!!! Pure luxury. I could hike all day every day with my 40 pound pack. I am never fitter than when I am on one of these trips, it's the purest form of exercise there is.

Used to swim a lot. Fell out of the habit with kids. hard to find time to get to the pool. Hate racket sports, too uncoordinated. Hate skiing, I like my feet on solid ground, that's why I am a hiker!!! Used to be long distance runner....

I used to play competitive soccer but it got to be too rough on my old body and bad knee. Now my main sport is dog agility...the sprinting just about kills me even after training with Cathe! But I love it.

Kathy, I love watching my Packers, especially when they play the Vikings!! }( Maybe someday the Vikings will be worthy to beat the Packers out of the playoffs:p Just having a little fun with ya!

All kidding aside, I just found out that there are actually adult kickball teams in my area. I used to love kickball, so I plan to find out more about it.

In the Spring & Summer (the best seasons of the year!), I play on a women's and co-ed softball teams; inline skate, swim, hike, and bike on a regular basis. In winter, I play on a volleyball team, do "more" step aerobics, and cross country ski (occasionally). All year long, I line dance (& I also teach it).

I don't think I have an athletic bone in my body - which is why I absolutely love to work out to videos in the privacy of my own home!
But, I really enjoy watching my boys play football and baseball and I attempted to hit a few golf balls today at the driving range with my oldest son - it wasn't pretty!

Hey Lori!! I have been wondering about you!! How did your trip go, and what did you think of the area, interviews, etc.? Did you make it to Truckee? How did your husband like it? Email me if you'd prefer, but I really would like to hear about it

Adding to the list though, we hike a lot as a family. That is a lot of fun and there are endless places to go where I live. We also ski and snowboard in the winter. In the summer I am the lone mountain biker in my family. I can occasionally get my son to go with me, but I have to bribe him:) Fortunately my best friend is even more avid about it than I am, and she is always up for a ride. :) I also love to rock climb, but not to the extent of using all the gear. We do free climbing, and will use ropes with a few anchors. I would love to learn more about that someday! I don't know if this qualifies as a sport, but in line with climbing, I love rock wall climbing. There are a few great indoor places, and that is always a blast. No matter how many times I get to the top of a wall, there is always that little rush when you look down. The heart is pumping and the adrenaline is flowing.....

Hi Kathy! I'm anxious to watch tonight Yankees v. Red Sox (I'm a BIG Yankees fan b/c I live in NY); can't wait! This game is going to be exciting!! I too played golf down in Florida while on vacation & absolutely LOVE it! I'll be practicing on the driving range on Sun. Its supposed to be 72!!! Woo Hoo!! I too swim but unfortunately only do it during the summer. I also watch golf now on tv that's how hooked on it I am! Ha! Sometimes I watch tennis on tv too but not that often. That's about it, Kathy

Forgot I also cycle, love that too!

I was a figure skater in my teens and still love skate. Unfortunately, now when I do a spin, I get so flippin dizzy I almost throw up! What's up with that.

I'm in Karate (Tae Kwon Do) and have about 1 yr to go before I can screen for my black belt.

I waterski in the summer and my kids like it when I play soccer, basketball, inline skate, run, bike and swim with them. I like to watch them snowboard, skateboard, & wakeboard.

I will watch the Gophers hockey & basketball, Wild hockey, Vikings, Twins and I even like watching golf :)

JJ

P.S. I think it is really important to be fitness role models for our kids and engage in regular exercise. I volunteered for track & field day when my kids were in elementary school and I was saddened by the number of kids that were unfit to the point they couldn't even do the most basic of exercises.

Ninjamom, your from Minnesota too, eh? There are acutally quite a few of us from Minn on this website. That is pretty cool. I'll have ot try to set up another meet date this summer.
Anyway, I forgot one thing that I love to do with my son and that is go hiking up in Leutsen. So much beauty, and it's a great time to watch my son get all excited from seeing the waterfalls. For a little guy he keeps up really well. I was very impressed last fall.
Thanks for all your replies it's fun to see what you all do and like to watch!
