What makes veins pop out?

:D Hi all! It's me! I am still working on bringing down my weight! I was doing Cathe's new DVD back, shoulders and biceps and noticed Cathe's veins are really pumped! Does excessive weight lifting and the strain of the lifting cause this? Also, I would imagine you can't have much body fat for this to happen. I know this will never happen to me, HA!

Don't say that, "this will never happen to you". I believe it's the clean eating and drinking water will help along with exercising. However my veins are not as thick in the biceps as Cathe's, but very noticeable. As a matter of fact my arms are beginning to look like a rooted tree from the wrist up. There is also a vein in my right shoulder and a couple popping out in the chest--maybe b/c this has become my favorite exercise.

Also everyone is different. I say that b/c I know a guy in the gym who has been w/o forever and he looks the same year after year. Maybe I should introduce him to Cathe:+ :+

But hang in there. One day when you look in the mirror, you'll remember this day:7 :7

My veins really pop out when I lift heavy. Lately, the veins in the front of my shoulders protrude when doing heavy bb curls.
Other than that you can cheat and take Arginine. That's a supplement to make you vascular, or take a small dose of Niacin with a couple of oz. of white wine. I opt for the heavy lifting myself.

Some of it is just genetics. Also the muscle contraction from lifting heavy weights increases the blood flow so the veins are more visible. Think about when you get blood drawn and they have you squeeze something to make your veins easier to stick.

Right. Your veins will start showing when your body fat gets lower. But they show even more when you lift b/c all the blood is rushing to the working muscles, & when you work upper body your hands & forearms are definitely included in the mix, especially as extremities. If you could see your feet when you work lower body you'd notice the same thing. I used to work out w/a guy whose veins popped out all over his shins & calves when we did legs. That's not something I've seen often.

I'm not exactly sure what makes veins pop out. I know that when my bodyfat has been very low you can see the veins on my hands and forearms.

i think it's a combination of genetics, low/lower body fat and fitness... my lower arms and hand have major vein poppage! lol!

when i do biceps.. yep.. i get that vein popping out too!

i don't think it's "excessive" weight lifting!

and yes.. you TOO can achieve it! :)
