What kind of results with Cathe?

Hey all!

I've had my Cathe tapes for a couple months, but haven't really done a lot with them. So this week I decided I am going to rotate MIS (Mon & Fri) and Cardio Kicks (Tues & Thurs), and IntervalMax (Sat). I am trying to lose those last 15 pounds (used to be last 10, but I've slacked off and regained 5 of the 40 lbs I lost!!x( ). I'd like lose these last few pounds fairly quickly, in time for dh's birthday on Feb 13th. Does this rotation sound like it could really help?

I did MIS this week and I feel so stong and energized! I am looking to build some great muscle tone- the kind you can see w/o having to flex :). I am hoping that I will be able to do this with MIS. I asked DH for either CTX or S&H for Christmas, but he said no. What kind of results have you guys seen with MIS, going as heavy as you can? (I just started and am using a 30 lb. barbell and 8-15 lb. weights).

DH said no??!! Shame on him!! I've seen great results with all of Cathe's videos and your choice of cardio is great. Interval Max is tough, and Cardio Kicks is great for variety. What other tapes do you own?? The CTX is awesome and so time efficient and works the muscled quite differenty than MIS. I have the S&H series, but haven't added them to my rotation just yet. It seems as though you need to treat yourself to your own Christmas present! I'm such a trouble maker :)

Happy Holidays,

Stacy

Hi La Belle Rebelle! Don't I know you??? LOL. Just wanted to chime in and say that I'm also looking to lose 15 lbs and have started doing MIS 3xwk to build more muscle. Re: your ? about CTX and S&H, let me say that I read a post recently from Cathe about CTX. She said that doing it will enable you to keep your muscle strength for about 2-3 wks. (I can't remember exactly what she said, but the gist was that it's NOT for building!) There is a post somewhere around here where she describes all her strength tapes and what they are designed to do. I'll try to find it. S&H, otoh, will definitely build muscles! Let me find that post......."I'll be back".....

OK, I'm too lazy to search for it, so I've pulled my copy and I'll just post what she said..

"CTX WEIGHT WORKOUTS....These workouts are a cross between an endurance and strength workout. Because we move so quickly from exercise to exercise, the endurance aspect kicks in. But, at the same time, we don't really use super light weight and we do provide brief breaks so the strength aspect kicks in too. And finally, because we spend a fairly short amount of strength training time and on just one muscle group per workout, the maintenance aspect kicks in. Depending on how strong you currently are and what your goals are, will determine what these workouts can do for you. If you are just coming back to weights after a long time off, you will get more than maintenance from these 10 minute workouts. However, if you have been working out with weights regularly, then this 10 minute per body part work out will provide enough stimulation to maintain your current strength for about two to three weeks.

SLOW HEAVY SERIES....This series is designed to promote PREMIUM muscular strength gains. This will be achieved by going through a series of exercises, performed in a uniquely slow and concentrated manner to eliminate momentum and thereby allow for maximum muscle fiber recruitment. Remember the overall effectiveness of the Slow and Heavy Series is not so much WHAT exercises you select but rather HOW you perform them. Regardless of your fitness level, if you select a weight that challenges you for all of the exercises for the duration of each rep, you will gain premium strength."

Now, I'm pretty sure that I remember a post from Cathe stating that the S&H series should only be done for 2-3 wks at a time, but I may be wrong. I'd ask her or do a search on the "ask Cathe" board. Maybe someone else remembers?????????

I hope this helps. Oh, let me tell you what she says re: MIS.
"This workout provides a combination of strength and endurance. Depending on your fitness level, you will pull more in one direction than the other. For instance, if you are new to fitness, deconditioned, or recovering from an injury, you will gain more strength because it will be quite a bit of work to your underused muscles. However, if you are currently very conditioned wth weight training, you will most likely feel more endurance conditioning (yet never fully eliminating strength gains) from this workout because of the faster pace of the reps and brief rest periods between the exercises."

Oh, and BTW, S&H series is cheaper than CTX. Maybe that'll sway DH. HEEHEE!

See ya, Robin.

If I'm not mistaken, the post that Robin was taking about was in "Ask Cathe" section. Do a search on "Cathe Video Help" subject for the past year on "Ask Cathe" forum. I think Cathe's reply was great on that post.
