WHat is more important for fat loss?weights or cardio?

Hi CAthe,
My DH and I have a battle going on , he insists that weight training is the way to go for fat loss and that cardio is not really that important. I have been working out with your DVD's for a couple of months now and am currently doing the April strength training. Will this help me lose those last 10 pounds or should I be soing the fatloss rotation ?

Hi, I think both cardio and weight lifting are essential for losing those last 10 pounds. Also, a very clean diet with small meals throughout the day really is mandatory to keep your metabolism high. Those last 10 pounds are the toughest, since our bodies really want to hang on to some body fat and we burn less calories as we become more and more conditioned to the exercise we have been doing. So, I would mix up your routine and shock your body. See Cathe's getting in shape after baby number two, its very helpful. Add a second cardio session at the end of the day a few days a week, or add a circuit training workout if you havent already done so (CM), or run a few days a week if you havent been doing so, etc.

Oh, And dont be tempted to starve yourself, just to get to a certain number on the scale, as once you start eating normally again you will have a rebound effect and gain back body fat.
