What is HIIT?

I'd really like to know also which workouts qualify as HIIT? I have heard that it is really effective, and since I've started lift more and heavier I would like to amp up my cardio to help burn off this extra layer of pudge I seem to have aquired!!:D

I agree that Cathe has no true HIIT w/os. She has lots of interval w/os but no true HIIT. When doing HIIT appropriately you should only be able to do 20-30 mins tops- that's how intense it is. When first starting you may only do 5-10mins to ease into it. Don't forget to warmup and cool down. Also remember, only do HIIT 1-2x per week. I also agree doing the blast only of IMAX 2 or 3 would fit the bill.

Is the Plyo X DVD from P90X series considered HIIT?

There are many internet sites devoted to HIIT. Just do a Google. Some offer free information and some will require memberships with access to more, or you can purchase a particular trainer's books.

I do HIIT 3 days a week, sometimes 4. It just depends on what my workouts have been for the week/month. The other 2-3 days I devote to doing a different style, iTread, dvd workouts, yoga practice, etc.
