What is Better

Which is better ladies . To lift as heavy as you can and at times not finish the last couple of reps or lighten up and do them all.
I did Muscle max last night and tried to go as heavy as i could . When it came to the middle of the 3rd set on some exercises like biceps. My arms were shaking bad.I was feeling really strong last night.I get really discousted when i try to push out those last few and i just crash.
I am looking to get stronger. I feel if i don't push it i will be there forever.

For me, I lift as heavy as I can and go as long as I can which would be to muscle failure. It is nice to switch up and do higher reps with lighter weights too. Don't get disgusted if you went higher and could not finish all the reps. You are still making progress.

I don't like to lift heavy because I bulk. However, if that is not an issue you have, I think it is probably better to do both. Sometimes pushing yourself to the point of exhaustion with a heavier weight, and sometimes pushing your endurance to the point of exhaustion with lower weight but higher reps.

It depends on what your goals are. If you are training for muscle gain, lifting as heavy as possible to failure is the way to go. If you are training for long, lean muscle tone, then endurance-type training is the way to go. Both are effective for weight and fat loss.

"Failing" is actually good with resistance training, especially if your goal is to increase strength.

Even if you don't "fail" during the set (or at least the last set of an exercise...you don't have to do this on every set), the last 2 reps should be difficult to do. Ideally, after the final rep, you couldn't do another one immediately with good form.
