What healthy snacks do you eat?

I am trying to get my diet back in check and I was wondering what everyone's favorite healthy snacks are. This week I bought baby carrots and yellow peppers with low fat onion dip to have for snack. Also, some flavored soy milk when I have sweet cravings. I am looking for some other snack ideas so I would love to hear what you guys eat.

Hi girls,

I just discovered sliced apples with cinnamon and splenda...they are great this way...I am going to try to cut down on the splenda and just use cinnamon..

I also just made a new recipe called waldorf salad from the turbojam recipes...you could make it for a snack also but I ate it for lunch...

it has cranberries (craisins), apple, celtery, chicken, almonds and grapes (i used blueberries) and then you take 1/4c of lo fat or nonfat vanilla yogurt and a TBSP of orange juice and toss...it makes about 3 servings...I really liked how it tasted...crunchy, a little sweet...very satisifying...

I started back on BFL diet today...I know it is my diet that is killing my progress...

I like nuts and seeds along with dried fruits. I make my own trail mix so I can control what goes into it. Mine usually contains a variety of nuts like walnuts, almonds, peanuts, pistachio nuts, soynuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, raisins, dried cherries, dried cranberries, and sometimes I add a few dark chocolate chips.

I try to combine a protein and a complex carb in every snack--fruits, vegies, lf cheeses--peanut butter and celery is one I love. HTH

My favorite morning snack is plain, non-fat yogurt with berries mixed in. In the afternoon, I love sliced granny smith apples with a couple of teaspoons of natural crunchy peanut butter (I love, love peanut butter!). Or sometimes I will have sliced veggies and a low-fat cheese stick. And I usually have a cup of coffee for a caffeine pick-me-up.

On days I work and did not get enough fresh produce, I will take a bag of organic frozen berries, put them in a tupperware and eat them later in the day when thawed. It's kind of like a dessert. I don't add sugar or splenda, but I sometimes bring some oats on the side to top them with some cinnamon. It's like an astronaut's cobbler -- which is how I feel on some days at work.

Hi Judy,

I just use Smucker's Natural Crunchy Peanut Butter. Right after opening, I drain as much of the oil off of the top as I can, then mix. I store it in the refrigerator so it keeps longer ( and I think peanut butter stored in the fridge tastes better!)

slow-cooking oatmeal, soy nuts, tuna with the least bit smattering of hummus for flavor, whole-wheat bread, fat-free cheese, lean chicken breast, veggies (spinach, mushrooms, eggplant, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, etc.), salad with a bit of fat-free dressing, egg whites, apples

Larabars or Organic Food Bars are always in my purse for "emergency snacks." I generally like to munch on dried or frozen blueberries, dried peas or wasabi peas, pumpkin seeds, apples and fresh pineapple (always in the house).

On days I don't work, I like to bake up sweet potato fries. I like to sprinkle them with chili powder before baking. If you're looking to sneak in some healthy fats, you can shake the fries with olive oil (mixed in with the seasoning).

Yum!

Frozen blueberries are soooooo delicious. They're so refreshing. I eat them a lot in the summer. I buy the frozen wild blueberries from Maine.

I eat apples with pb, oranges, triscuits, boiled egg whites, fat free turkey lunch meat and protein bars:)

Apples.

1/2 avocado mashed between two slices of sprouted grain bread.

PB on sprouted grain bun.

Larabars (just 2-6 ingredients per bar, all raw food)

Vega bars (meal replacement bars)

You've gotten some great suggestions for the food, but I wanted to add something that has helped me greatly.

CREATE YOUR OWN SNACK SIZED BAGS

A lot of companies have 100 calorie snack bags that are handy but expensive. I've gotten into the habit of creating my own as soon as I get back from shopping. This way if I want to have some triscuits (which might not be "clean" but are still decent) I just have to grab a bag out of the box. This way I know the calories and it stops me from eating more then I should. It also helps when packing snacks to take to work or if I'm going to be out running errands all day. I do this for trail mix, veggies, and even peanut butter.

MMMM...SNACKS!!!

Edammeme (spelliing?)-salted, boiled soybeans...Salty..YUM!
Whole wheat tortilla with black beans and salsa
Carrots and hummus
Vegan protein/fiber shake (mix the chocolate with peanut butter-YUM!)

I second the Edamomme suggestion - delicious! They come frozen in a bag. I get mine at Trader joe's. I also like Kashi bars. Sometimes when I think I want a snack, I'm really just thirsty so I opt for an iced coffee. I always have leftover in the pot, so I use the magic bullet and make a smmothie with it. Phyllis

Edamame

The snack-size bag idea reminded me of something: some cereals (natural, whole grain) make nice snacks. And they can help satisfy a craving for something crunchy.
