What has inspired you the most, and keeps you working out?

Yes, I think of Lance Armstrong quite often whether I am working out or not. Very motivating to think of him!

Not to be mean, but when I am in the general public and seeing obese people and seeing them eat badly, that motivates me to do the opposite. On the flip side, last week I was in Costco's and a very obese women was buying protein bars and lite wheat bread, wasn't really trying to be nosey, but she was beside me looking at the protein bars so I couldn't help but notice, that was inspiring too to see someone obese making a decision to eat healthy.

When I can outrun my children, hubby and friends.

I very rarely get sick anymore with the exception of one virus just recently.

I feel like my age is just some boring number that doesn't mean anything to me anymore.

For me watching the unhealthy relationships with food and exercise most of the women in my family have had to deal with..I knew that this was not the life I wanted to live.

When DH and I do have kids someday..if we are blessed with girls..I do not want them to grow up watching me do the same things I had to watch my mother do.

Unfortunetly..I had a period of time where I let those behaviors I tried so hard not to take part in control my life..but now I can proudly say that I am in a much better place.

I can tell you , my body demands hard work! I am a lazy person by nature, but I feel that there is an innate feeling that I must work hard. I've had it as long as I could remember. I can be lazy, but when it's time to work out, I know how to work out!

My mil, her sister and the people who I delivered meals on wheels to inspire me to keep fit.

My mil is 57 years old, is 5'3 and weighs about 275lbs. She eats out for almost every meal and makes poor decisions on what she chooses to eat (example: 6 Krispy Creme donuts, some eggs and hashbrowns) and never gets any physical exercise. It's hard to do things with her because she has so many problems related to her weight (bad joints, her feet always hurt, out of breath, tired, high blood pressure, prediabetes, digestion problems and depression). She recently left her job and doesnt plan on getting another because she thinks she is too old.

Her sister is 3 years younger and in exellent shape. She competes in marathons and triathlons and qualified for the Hawaii triathlon this year. She works full time in a job with long hours but still manages to train almost everyday. She seems to enjoy her life so much and is a lot of fun to be around.

I delivered meals on wheels for several years and saw what a difference life style seemed to make. I knew diabetic women in their 60's who were housebound most of the time and women in their 70's delivering the meals after going to their exercise classes. One 97 year old man complained to me one day that he was getting old because he couldnt mow the lawn that year like he had the year before. So many of them inspired me with how well they aged and so many broke my heart because they could have had such an easier time if they had taken better care of their bodies.

When I was 32 (3years ago), I found myself weighing about 35lbs more than I should, without enough energy to make it through the day without a nap and unable to jog more than a block. My weight had been steadily increasing and I realized that I was heading towards being like my mil. I knew that I still had a chance to change my ways and have a healthy aging. I dont want to feel like I'm old in my 50's. I want to be a good role model for my kids and future grandkids instead of being a burden on them.
