Hello all

My mom is in a fairly good shape and I want to get some dvds for her for Christmas. What would you suggest? Thanks, Mari

Hi Mari
I would suggest Collagevideo.com They have a great selection to choose from. You might want to check out Fit over 50 or something like that.
Good Luck

I do a lot of Leslie Sansone work outs. I think any of her DVD's would be fine. She does have 1 or 2 that are specifically for older people, but I think any of them would be appropriate. Her workouts are easy to modify if you want less or more intensity. She is a little on the chatty side though!

You might also want to check out "Walk Your Way Slim" from Prevention. It's on the collage website.

LOL, I was about to suggest "Under the Tuscan Sun" or something like that...and then I READ what you posted! Silly me.

Collage also has a few Silver Foxes workouts that might be good.

And I know Billy Blanks has Tae Bo Gold, that you can still find - it's a Tae Bo workout designed for Seniors.

Does Mom want to do something trendy? How about yoga & pilates?

Suzanne Deason's misnamed "Yoga for Weight Loss" is a terrific intro to yoga. There are stacks of great pilates intros, "A.M./P.M Pilates" for one.

I'm not suggesting that pilates & yoga can replace weight training & cardio in a fitness routine. But the flexiblity training, core work & often gentle strength training in yoga & pilates is very useful, especially as we age.

Wow that's awesome!!!

My mom used to exercise with me years back...about 10-12 years ago I guess. We used to take a twice weekly jazzercise class together. We did that for about a year. It was sooo much fun. She was in her mid-late 40's then. She hasn't really done any kind of exercising since then and is starting to develop some health problems now that she is nearing 60 as well as gaining weight that exercise would help. She was walking a bit outside this past spring/summer when the weather was warm but now that winter is setting in she'll do nothing I am sure. I suggested she borrow my Gazelle since it's a no impact exercise...she didn't say much either way but who knows...maybe she will!

I can only HOPE I am still plugging away at exercise vids when I am your mom's age!:+
