What do you think about KPC and Boot Camp?

also, what strength training ones do you recommend that will get the most bang for your buck and don't require a ton of equipment. A lot of that stuff is expensive so I can't get a lot right now. Thanks!

i LOVE LOVE LOVE bootcamp.. it's my favorite cathe workout! (ok.. favorite workout.. period!) i also love KPC! it's a lot of fun... sold me on kickboxing!

what equipment do you have? barbell? dumbbells?

i would say the new gym styles are terrific.. but they do use barbells, dumbbells and the stretchy band....

prior to getting the gym styles i would swear by PUB.. great workout! upper body takes dumbbells lower body uses a barbell but dumbbells could be substituted.

the upper body premix on CTX is also terrific! but i can't for the life of me remember if it only takes dumbbells or a barbell too... grrrrr

i'm not a fan of pure strength.. it's good.. but not my personal favorite... i have slow and heavy and have never even done them.. so can't answer on that either!

cute work out clothes are good for AT LEAST an additional 10-15 calories burned!

I'm afraid I have nothing but a step right now. I do belong to a gym but don't get there as much b/c of my son. I'm willing to invest in a few things but I can't get all this equipment. I guess I'm asking what are some basics that will take me through a few workouts. This stuff gets pricey!!

BC and KPC are tried and true workouts I reach for again and again. They are both extremely effective.

Maximum Intensity Strength is an excellent total body weight workout -- Cathe's first one. Also on the DVD are Power Hour, a great endurance workout, and Body Max which is an 80-min workout divided into three sections: step, step/lower body circuit, and an upper body weight workout. The workouts on this DVD require a step, various dumbbells and a barbell, although you can easily sub dumbbells for the barbell, depending on your fitness level and/or how heavy your dumbells are. The workouts are older and don't have premixes, but really would give you a lot of bang for your buck.

HTH!:)

You might want to take a look around at the stores when your in there shopping and picking up goods. Around this time of year, they usually have a sale on sporting goods, also if you have a sears close by they have one of the lowest prices on dumbells that I've found. For the stretchy bands look around, you can usually pick one up for $3.00 or lower. Which would just leave a barbell for you, and I'd just use the dumb bells to replace it. Also if your just starting off, and haven't baven't been working with weights, you may not even need them for a couple of weeks until you get use to the program. I always coach on knowing the workout before you add any weights to it. This you'll be in right form and you'll get a better over all workout when you start with weights as you know what to do next. A set of 10 lb weights is $16 at Sears, and if your not use to weight you might want to try lower anyway, will just depend on what you do at the gym and how the workouts feel to you.

Good luck and have fun working out.
