what do you eat after working out?

After a weight workout, I use a little soy milk, some cooked oatmeal with nuts, a couple of different protein powders, ground flax seed, a little fiber powder and fruit with water. It's thick, semi sweet, and tastes so good. My Joey (hubby) and I look forward to this drink, when we are done. It's full of nutritious foods, and good calories. On cardio days, we still have the shakes, except we don't use as much protein in it, and use more carbs.

Not to be repetative but I read somewhere that chocolate milk has the perfect ratio of protein to carbs for a post-workout snack. I have had this and added some additional protein after a heavy weight workout day. It is a delicious reward!

Oh...its depends! If its weights I usually have a whey protein shake, with yogurt and water and if its cardio...I usually have a cookie!

I workout first thing in the morning so I eat breakfast after working out and then walking the dogs. I usually have tea, 1 scrambled egg and 1/4 C oatmeal with fruit and 1/2 a banana.

In my exercise physiology class, they say the best thing is a glass of chocolate milk. Best combination of protein and carbs.

i am constantly trying to find the right stuff to eat after my workout. i used to have a protien shake w/milk every day, but a friend said that her nutrition professor told her we don't need the extra protien., so i am so confused. i want to probperly refuel , especially after STS.
lorrie, could you give me exact foods that you use after your workouts. that would be a great help. i would greatly appreciate it.

Also in this class they are saying you do not need a lot of extra protein. Your body needs the carbs, and a little bit of protein helps with glycogen resynthisis.
