what do you do for exercise on vacation?

Hi, everyone--

I'm going away next week for two weeks :7 I'm planning on jogging a few times each week, but what about weights? I don't think I'll be able to bring any with me. Has any of you skipped weight workouts for two whole weeks? How far behind will I be when I return if I do?

Any advice is appreciated; thanks!

Marie

You could always do pushups, tricep dips on a chair, squats, & lunges without weight. It will not give you the resistance you are used to, but it would be better than nothing. If you change the width of your hand position when you do pushups then you can target different areas of the chest. Also, if you really want some resistance if you have some full water jugs handy then you could use them as weights. Just a thought.

I have walked and ran on a couple of my vacations for a week with no weights. But if you feel you would like some resitance training and can't take along weights, maybe you could pack some resistance bands and do the pushups, tricep dips, etc, as suggested above! But enjoy your vacation!

This was a tremendous help to me when I was on vacation. I put this together with walking and I was surprised at how much of a workout this was..

I didn't know how to put this on here without typing the whole address. :-(

This includes a leg blast, squats, lunges, plyo jacks, upper body work, ab work. It all can be done in the hotel room with 5 or 8 pound weights.

Wanda, thank you so much! I'm going to print this out and bring it with me. I know I'll feel so much better having done a little something while I'm away. This is so great! Thank you so much for the help!

We tend to have very active vacations... kyaking.. LOTS of hiking.. canoeing... riding so I just do those activities.

For me I excercise a lot for health lifestyle rather than how I look so the feeling of being able to (ALMOST) keep up with my teenagers is WONDERFUL.

I find the change is great but of course that is just works for me...

Oh and re your first question I really havent lost anything at all.. the upper body work out from kyaking is pretty intense and lower body from hiking....

Enjoy your vacation :)

This is all very helpful. Hopefully now I won't feel like too much of a slug when I come back from my two weeks of R&R! Thanks again, everyone!

We were on vacation for 7 days, 3 of those days I walked and jogged, also took my 15 lb dumbells, 10 lbs dumbells, and 5 lb dumbells, I did squats and lunges .... plus we walked around silver dollar city and celebration city, and white water in branson, missouri. Plus I took protein bars and drinks, to help me out ..... hope this helps, if at all possible take a VCR or DVD player ..... Rhonda :7
