What Do I Do Next?

Okay, I am 5'7" about 150#s. I have been working out with Cathe for 7 months now, dropping 25 lbs. I just started eating clean this month. I need to lean out. I have very bulky shoulders and quads. Muscular, but covered with fat. A lot of my shirts fit, but the sleeves are too tight for my arms. Should I continue my strength training as is (PS, S&H, MIS) or stick to PH and CTX until I get smaller? If I lose fat, will I lose muscle as well? Thanks for any comments, suggestions!

Hmmm, I'm no way an expert but I definitely think a rotation with PH and CTX will give you cuts instead of bulk. If you are still looking to lose weight a CTX rotation would probably be ideal because of all the cardio - although you deserve congrats on losing the 25lbs! You won't lose muscle. After a rotation of lighter weight, higher reps, go back to a heavier rotation for additional strength gains.

I also have that "hulk" thing with the sleeves on my shirts. Alot of the cute shirts in style now have that elastic around the sleeves - well forget about that, it cuts my circulation off!

Thanks Lorrie! That is just the info I was looking for. And I hear ya about the elastic sleeves thing! At least the hippie-shirts with bell sleeves are in too!

I think the idea of switching back from heavier workouts to lighter is fine. You have lost alot of weight in a short time really. 25 lbs in 7 months is very good. In order to jumpstart things a little at this point I would HIGHLY recommend running twice a week in addition to 2 other cardio workouts if you're not already doing it. Start with about 2 or 3 miles and work up to 5 or 6. I think you will be very happy with the results. I know that running can be kind of boring. I used to hate running. I decided to try it because Cathe raves about how much it leans her out. I started running about 3 or 4 months ago and I am in such good shape now I cannot believe it!

Good luck,
Kristie S

Lose the fat slowly. This will preserve more lean muscle. Don't cut your calories too low or go crazy on the cardio or even worse..both. I would agree with the PH suggestions. If you have cardio in the mix, I really don't think it much matters whether you do PH or not, instead of MIS. Running is good as well. It has not worked miracles for me however, but I probably ate too much while doing it. I like trail running..much more fun. Good Luck!!

Thanks for the running suggestions you guys (gals)! I can't wait to start cross training and slimming down! Thanks again!
