A Perfect Sunday Defined:

Woke up to a spin class, coffee with a dear friend, a healthy sushi lunch, a great lift, and a little bit of sunshine....what a fabulous day!

What are you doing today?

It was a going away party last night for friends moving to Vegas :( 18 Holes of golf this morning, a few hours at the playground, now just hanging out in the yard. I just love Spring......Glad you had a nice day Cathe.

That sounds absolutely lovely, Cathe. Today I did a 2 hour full body strength workout and then did errands - but I did them at Kensington Market, one of the most interesting places to hang out in Toronto on a beautiful sunny weekend afternoon. Lots of street performers of various kinds, lots of funky people wearing funkier clothes, gypsy street sellers, just a very nice relaxed and cool vibe throughout.

Today was supposed to be a rest day, but I felt really good last night, so last night I figured I'd run 5 or 6 miles this morning.

Fast forward to this morning......

Ugh, lead legs and allergy nose. Cottonwoods are flying this morning. Laced up my sneakers and decided it really sucked. Did a 2 mile walk/run, and then the stab ball section from Stretch Max.

Worked on my cross stitch project and watched The Wizard of Oz.

Took a nap.

Sat outside in the sunshine w/ Vlad and read a bit and chit chatted with my husband :)

Felt better, so packed up Vlad and took him out to the forest preserve.

Today we went to the old Joliet Iron Works site, which I've never been too before. Its on what is now forest preserve property, and is the site of an old iron factory that ran from the late 1800s to the 1930s, and was big industry in town at the time. Its now mostly foundations and a few walls. But there are signs up that tell about the times and what was where and how it all worked. There's also a good view of the Joliet Correctional Center - the TV show Prison Break. So we walked around there for probably 45 mins or so. Stopping to read and sniff and such. Out and back of just the Iron Works portion is probably a little over 2 miles.

If you keep on going it carries over to a really nice park the next town over and you can see the old locks on the I&M canal and the lock keepers house, which is kinda neat.

So, it ended up being a rest day after all, but pretty nice. Will probably take Vlad for after dinner walkies, too. His little doggie world will come to and end if he doesn't get after dinner walkies, and he will drive us bonkers the rest of the night as well

Hi Morningstar! I love to hang out, relax, and people watch at those kind of events. So many diverse people all walking to a different beat. Interesting isn't it?

Your day sounded great Nan (after the morning workout). Next time you feel like that on a rest day, don't even push out the mile or two walk. Instead, let the rest day be just that and stretch, have a glass of water and go about your day. Just a suggestion of course, ;).

It's been a fun day. I stayed up late last night watching "The Princess and the Frog" with my 4 yo dd- great movie! DH made us all Belgian waffles this morning and then we went for a walk in the beautiful sunshine. I got play around a bit with my new iPad (love it!), then I did Kick, Punch & Crunch, which is my all-time favorite kickboxing workout. In a little bit here, dh is going to treat us all to DQ --yum!

Wow Jules....can I come to DQ with you :p

What a great weekend you are having. Time with precious family and time with new toys...those I Pads are getting quite popular. My friend just got one too....I'm still deciding :D

Hi Cathe, so pleased to hear your day was perfection! Thank you so much for sharing. I'm visiting Toronto at the moment, would you believe??!! Scrumptious weather in the city today so I hopped on a Harbourfront Cruise down near Queen's Quay, took a ridiculous number of photos of the CN Tower (I'm such an excitable tourist) and had a 'naughty-but-oh-so-nice' frosty treat from Second Cup. I'll have to deal with the guilt later ;) Have a sensational week.

P.S. I'm tickled pink to 'see' you on OD too...helped add an extra lift to my mood :)

Not much on the exercise front for me yet, but I took my 13 year old daughter to a local park where she ran 15 suicide drills for 30 seconds each with a minute's rest in between as she is in the middle of the competitive soccer season and we missed a practice yesterday! A nice sunny day in the park with me manning the stop watch!

I worked out yesterday: 40 mins powerwalk on inclines 9-15% followed by 1 hour 20 mins lower body resistance training. I am trying to understand why I am still injured after 4 months have gone by since the original injury/pain arose and I have already had 1 month of physio, none of which has helped at all. I have worked out that activity hurts less than rest! Back to the doctor again next week to insist on a reassessment. Sometimes you just know something is not right, despite what the doctor's are telling you. Who knows your body best, right?

Still, I enjoyed watching my daughter running like the wind and lived that feeling of moving through the air vicariously through her!

Hope everyone has enjoyed the sunny Sunday that we had here in Michigan!

Hi Cathe :)

Sounds like you had a wonderful day! Especially the coffee part. Nothing like a good cup o' joe with someone to enjoy it with! ;)
Today I woke up and did D25, accompanied with a nice long stretch. Then went and spent the day shopping and visiting family with my mother, after went to the market, and just now plopped down for dinner.

Iris

P.S.---- Take the plunge with the I-Pad  I have an Iphone....and will NEVER go back...I lovvvee it.

I love reading about everyone's Sundays! Today I walked 13 miles in beautiful weather (not to be taken for granted here in Portland, OR) in the woods. Now I have a lentil tagine bubbling away on the stove. Stretch Max later tonight as a treat for my tired legs. :)

Hope everyone has a great week!

What are you doing today?

Since my hubby love to cycle (over 50miles:eek:) some days. i wanted to learn how to cycle. so I went on a 20mile bike ride (21.67miles). he can get up to 19-22mph!! so i had a good pace for me of 8-10mph. boy i'm i paying for it now:confused:. however, I would do it again. it was really fun!!! Then went 2 and excellent restaurant afterwards. planning to do this with him every sat or sun...excellent cardio!!!!

From Saturday... I had a really hard hour long workout and I'm al sweaty and happy. Randy comes in looking for one of his Wii games and says to me, "Hey Mommy, we haven't tried this Kickboxing Cathe DVD".... I ask him if he is serious and he insists! We did part of the workout before HE pooped out!! :p In continued on for a bit longer because your MMA Kickbox is soooo much fun!! couldn't finish it, though, because I was plum tuckered out. :)

Sunday was a day of "rest" and "active recovery"... laundry, dishes, vacuum, bathrooms, etc... :p I would have MUCH preferred your Sunday!! :D

Ready to Hiit it hard tomorrow!!!

Pam

My husband and I are doing a tri-athalon relay on Saturday. He is biking and I am running. We usually bike ride together, but I sent him off by himself because I figured I better get a run in. I only have to run 3 miles, but I would like to get a good time in so I am working on my speed.

Saturday for me was power circuits from Body Max 2 and chest/tris. Then off to watch a good friend graduate from college with her RN. We had Olive Garden for lunch and just hung out.

Sunday I did MMA boxing. What a calf killer.:p And enjoy a nice sun shiny day. Went to Ruby Tuesday for dinner.

Jenn:)

I don't normally workout on Sunday as it is my day of rest, but since I babysat all day Saturday, I went for a 35 minute jog in the early morn. Our weather was perfect! (very sunny and just slightly cool in the AM but was able to wear a tank top! :)) STS is on tap tomorrow! Cathe, we will never grow weary of those workouts! BTW, I did go for a fast walk on Saturday with Cooper in his stroller and Colton on his bike. We kept racing each other! :) Not easy with flipflops on! Ha! Hey Jules, I just got an iPad too! I love mine also. We'll have to talk! Cathe, your day sounded fabulous!

A day late, but I had a really nice Sunday, so thought I would share.

I looked up great places to have breakfast, so DH and I tried one of them out, and it was fantastic, great place, lots of unique extras on the menu.

Then we went to hit golf balls at the range, and turns out they had free lessons, which I desperately need, so I signed up and took my free lesson, I really got some great advice!

After the lesson, I went to Bed Bath and Beyond and spent a $200 gift card I recently received, way too easy to spend that! Then I went for a 30 minute massage, my favorite masseuse was available so that was wonderful.

Finally did a small food shopping and made a new chicken dish to use up some of this giant vat of peeled garlic I bought. The chicken was great, the roasted garlic on french bread was even better!
