what color is your bedroom and bedspread?

Totally off topic here but I want to give the master bedroom a whole new look. Right now the walls are terra cotta with the bedspread and curtains being the Crosill deep burgandy, gold and green. I'm finding it too dark and dreary. Wondering about the color schemes people have and enjoy. Also, where is a good place to buy bedding online? I visited the Bed, Bath & Beyond Store but they had nothing that really excited me. They are still selling a very similar style to the bedspread and drapes I bought 6 years ago! I'm thinking of a more upbeat, beach feel even though I live in Colorado!

I'm more than happy to chime in here. We put an addition on our house a few years ago and part of that was a new master bedroom and bath...complete with tub for two. Both rooms are painted a cappuccino color and I have two quilts that I rotate; a green/brown log cabin for winter and a cappuccino whole-cloth quilt for summer. We have a king size bed so choosing a quilt is not easy because the thing will be so large and such a presence in the room.

I chose the coffee color for the walls because I wanted the bedroom to be a soothing, relaxing place. My H is self-employed and I am his secretary/bookkeeper so we live and eat the business 24/7. It is so nice to go up to the bedroom and get in the tub together and just soak. And the wall colors are soothing and relaxing.

Of course...it would be icing on the cake if DH could also cook and bring me breakfast in bed but alas...we can't all HAVE IT ALL like Shelley does.:p

My bedroom walls are ivory and I'm getting a little bored with it, although it is a nice, soft, warm white. I put a quilt on my bed, too. It's got an ivory background with extensive quilting and an appliqued design of tulips. It's in colonial colors of reds, blues, and greens. I have cascade and swag window treatments by Crosill in the same colors.

My bedroom walls are Silver Sage from Restoration Hardware. It looks different depending on the light and time of day. Sometimes greenish, sometimes a bit bluey green and sometimes silver. My duvet cover is chocolate brown with matching shams and my sheets are Silver Sage. All the trim in the room is white and the curtains are silvery green. I have hardwood floors with an oatmeal berber area rug.

You didn't ask all that, so I'll shut up now:p

I think Shelley's bedroom sounds lovely too.

We bought our apartment from an Asian man who told us that peach is to Asians what ivory is to non-Asians. He had tons of extra peach paint, so we had the whole place re-painted in peach because we didn't have time to shop for anything else. It's nice, but after 6 years, I'm really ready for a change.

The peach is nice in the bedroom, though, because the bedroom furniture, which we also bought from the Asian guy, is honey-colored and so are the wood floors. So the whole room has a warm glow, which I really like. I tend to use ivory bedsheets and duvet covers, to keep the soft, warm feeling. I try to make the bedroom feel like a haven.

My bedroom walls are (still) white, just because I haven't gotten around to changing them. I plan to make them blue, or to have a wallpaper with an ivory background and some blue and rose maybe swirls in it.

My blankets are blues.

Blue and green are probably the best colors for bedroom walls, because they are calming colors. Red, orange and yellow would be bad colors, because they are stimulating colors (which is one reason they are used in fast-food restaurant decor: to stimulate the appetite).

hey 40 something our walls are a chocolate brown with a green trim! we love it it's nice to know we aren't the only ones.... garilee

My walls are a soft green with eggshell on the trim. My duvet is a beautiful chintz with birds and flowers in the same soft green with many shades of brown, raspberry and soft blues. I have a lot of ivory pillows with a few raspberry on the bed. There is also a raspberry and ivory dustruffle. I have ivory silk draperies that are trimmed in raspberry, ivory and soft green tassels. I love my bedroom and find all of the green to be very soothing (and my husband likes it too!). But then again, green is my favorite color so I may be a bit biased!:)

The walls are sort of a sage green with a tinge more blue to it. Maybe like a seafoam green but darker? Well, whatever it is, it's really pretty and peaceful. The baseboards and trim are white. I have a taupe colored bedspread that looks good in the room. Not sure what color I'd get if I were to buy a new one though.

My bedroom walls are ivory, except for the wall behind our bed which is purple. The bedding is purple with sage/olive greens.

For bedding online try Linens and Things and Overstock.com. Also, check out furniture stores in your area. Their bedding ensembles are usually a little more pricey, but they usually have really cool stuff.

Becky,

Your duvet cover sounds gorgeous. I love anything with birds! Where did you find it?

That's a great idea about the furniture stores. Do they really sell bedding? I didn't realize that. And thanks for all these great ideas everyone!

Mine are mossy green....our house came with them and I am so lucky i am soooo a green loing girl. My duvet is a apple, periwinkle, royal blue stripe that I got from Eddie Bauer when the clearanced their home division.....got it for next to nothing!!

Our walls are a pale yellow with white trim. Duvet and pillows are silver sage from restoration hardware, with plain white sheets. I love the look of white sheets, it feels like you were in a luxury hotel. Curtains are silk in the silver sage from RH as well. I just love that color. Accessories are a light goldish color (to go with the pale yellow walls). I find it very relaxing. Everything is light, but the furniture is all dark walnut color, so a nice contrast I think.

Ours is a work in progress, but so far the bedspread is teal green and a goldish color. I think that I will go with either one of those colors to paint the walls. I love the colors of the bedspread and can't wait to have the walls match. It's light, and relaxing. Just what I wanted in the bedroom. I have to wait to paint the walls until the weather is warm enough for me to open the windows and let it air out. Right now, at -2 I don't think it's a good idea.

My wall color is a watermelon color and my duvet cover is a Calvin Klein lilac exactly like Carrie had in Sex & the City. It's absolutely gorgeous to me and very soothing. I love color in my life. I don't do traditional, I don't do country or Victorian, and I don't do boring. ;-)
