What are your thoughts on the Depo-Provera shot?

I was advised to run, run, run away from depo, after a bad experience on the mini pill......apparently I cannot tolerate progesterone - the mini pill made me feel murderous. So, I stay clear of any hormone based things, including the combined pill, which gives me chronic aching legs.

Me too! And pills killed my sex drive! I finally gave up on hormones all-together and along with condoms, chart my cycles. I'm happy that things are finally starting to get back to normal:)

I had these when I was breastfeeding. I did not notice any weight gain, but I have always been physically active. Supposily they make you want to eat more, too, but I was eating more anyway because I was breastfeeding so I do not know if it was the shot or the nursing. I used them 9 months with my first son, and then I went on birth control for a little while, and then I attempted to get pregnant again ( I did so after 2 months). Supposily it can take up to a year to get pregnant again after doing the depo provera shots. They are expensive, it was cheaper for me to go back on the pill after my second son was born, so that is what I did.

i have only been on the shot for 3 months. no more periods,or pms. the only downfall is that i get terrible headaches at the end of the month and i have gained wait-yuck.
