curl-up-on-the-sofa-with-a-blanket-rainy-day movies??

Rainy and dreary here today, so I'm thinking of watching "Casablanca" or the A&E "Pride & Prejudice" after my workout.
 
I have been known to not look at TV for days on end, my TVs in the house are on when DH is home and not at work, can we say TV addict,when he is at work, my kids and I rarely look at TV, but me, give me a good novel on any given , rainy or sunny, and I am happy.

Cool! What are you reading now? I rarely do this, but I'm reading two..."Living to Tell the Tale," the first of a three-part autobiography of Gabriel Garcia Marguez and Margaret Atwood's "The Penelopiad," which is "The Odyssey" told from Penelope's point of view.
 
Pride and Prejudice is wonderful. :)

I like any of the modern classics that never get old, such as Shawshank Redemption, A Few Good Men or LA Confidential. I will also watch Overboard time and again. Don't know why, but that movie cracks me up.

I also forgo the tv and read on a rainy day. The Penelopiad sounds great, I put it on my reading list. I just finished a historical fiction book called "Through a Glass Darkly" and am now reading my book club book for the month- "While I was gone" by Sue Miller. I would recommend both!

I think I have seen Overboard at least 111 times... and only one of those times did I sit down to watch the movie! I swear it is on every day on some channel, LOL!

I can watch the original Parent Trap every day and be happy... or Pillow Talk... those are my 2 feel-good-at-the-end-of-a-miserable-day movies. I think that right about now, though, I'd be looking at my holiday movies!!! :7 I have been feeling an urge to watch It's A Wonderful Life lately. ;) }(
 
I just can't believe how closely the A&E "Pride & Prejudice" follows the book! If you haven't already, you should check out the 1939 (?) version with Laurence Olivier. It's funny for all the WRONG reasons--the period dress is off and, well, I won't even tell you what they do to the "Lady Catherine" character! But, Sir Laurence is wonderful, of course, and need I say, pretty HOT!!!

I have a few "Overboard" movies, too. If I'm flipping the channels and "Good Will Hunting" or "My Cousin Vinney (yeah, "My-friggin'-Cousin-Vinney) is on, for some reason I get caught up!

If ya'll keep talkin' about 'em, I just might have to watch him again...for the thousandth time!!!:)

Did you ever see the movie "Bagdad (sic) Cafe?" It's a small independent film that came out about 10 years ago. It's very sweet and Palance plays a wonderful romantic part. You should check it out.
 
Right now I am reading "Eat to Live" by Joel Fuhrman, next will be "Rave Diet" by Mike Anderson, and then "You, on a diet" by Roizen & Oz, I am still trying to figure out the right eating habits that will work for me, after I read these then it is back to my normal romance, suspense, and mystery :)
 
I am more of a reader myself but if I had to pick a movie it would definitely be Manhattan by Woody Allen. I'm a huge Woody Allen fan and I think this is his best. If I wanted something a little funnier I would pick When Harry Met Sally...

Woody Allen is definitely a favorite, and I love "Manhatten." I guess it's not considered one of his best, but the nostalgic "Radio Days" is one that I'll watch over and over. "Hannah and Her Sisters" is fantastic; the part where he dicides to convert to Christianity and buys a loaf of Wonder bread and a jar of mayonnaise cracks me up everytime.

Love that this thread ended up addressing two of the things I love most: books and film! Now, we'll just have to start a Music and/or Food one!
