What are your big plans for the 4th?

I'm off Friday and Monday!! I had to work the whole weekend of the fourth last year because it was on my holiday rotation, so I'm taking four days off this year!!

DH and I are going to Arden, NC for an AQHA horseshow. He team ropes (heeling). I'm along for the ride. I don't ride and never have liked to. I have a lot of friends on the horseshow circuit, mostly wives who are along for the ride also. I believe while DH is wandering around talking "horse" Saturday, I'll hop over to Asheville to the mall. I'll need to be back for the show that evening though since my presence is required to watch his performance. :)


I'll just be glad to get away. Of course, the pool at the motel may lure me more than the mall.


What are your plans?
 
We're driving to MD to visit my mother & stepdad on Friday. It's about a 5 hour drive from NY. Will also see my best girlfriend who I haven't seen in so long. I'm excited!

Actually I live in MD and will be driving down the ocean for the fourth. My hubby and my ninth wedding anniversary's on the 6th. So that is a good vacation with the kids. Ocean, Anniversary, Fireworks, Oh and somewhere in there better be a nice anniversary gift for me!!HE HE!!!! Karen
 
We're just staying in town for the 4th. Just going to family cookouts. I enjoy them tho.

All your plans sound great girls! We're going to OC MD in August for a week. I cannot wait. We went from going to Rehobeth for 4 days 5 min. from the shore,to getting an ocean front condo for 7days!:7
I so can't wait.

I'm off this Friday and Monday too. :) My husband's birthday in July 4th so we are having a bday party for him Monday. Other than that just planning on relaxing.

I will be at the beach on the 4th, while I will watch the fireworks and my brothers will set off a few theirselves. It is so scary to watch them fool around with those things! We we enjoy BBQ chicken grilled out on the courtyard.


I really need this vacation!!!

We are hosting a cookout for the family at our house. I bought red, white, and blue lights for the patio and some lovely decorations too. We might be able to see the fireworks from the school field that is behind our house. It would be nice so we wont have to fight all the traffic to see them. It should be a nice time and with lots to eat (that might not be so good). :D

We are off Monday and Tuesday, and we'll be building a deck this weekend, with the help of my in-laws. Actually, I'm just going to let DH and his dad do all the hard work, while his mom and I relax inside the house. ;) :p

If we get the deck finished in time, we'll buy a grill so we can grill out on the 4th. :9

I wanted to buy a tree this weekend, but I think it's going to be tooooo hot to plant a tree, so I'll have to hold off until the weather cools down. :(
 
I'm off the entire week for a much needed vacation. I'll be down the shore, lying on the beach (fabulous fireworks display on the 4th from a barge in the ocean, meaning you can watch it from just about anywhere), eating ice cream & pizza & playing games on the boardwalk, working out every day, & generally relaxing & enjoying myself.

I can't wait! :)
 
I am so envious of everyone who is going to the beach. I have no set plans yet. I am hoping to get invited to a bbq and to see some fireworks. I know on friday night I am seeing war of the worlds. Other then that I am winging it. At 46 it seems like most of my friends are married and my son is grown and usually has his own thing going on. So I will come up with something. I am on a pity trip can you tell:) Naw it just seems so much harder when you are older and single to fit in. Does anyone else have this issue. Oh Sorry I took the thread off track!

We're staying home. The city has a fireworks show off the end of the pier in Pismo Beach and we'll watch from our deck.

Last year we went down to the beach but it was like a war zone down there with people setting off their illegal fireworks all over the place. Crazy, I tell you. The kids loved it but it's not a safe place to be.

Unfortunately, it's probably going to take someone getting injured before the fireworks ban is enforced.
 
My nephew's birthday is on the 4th so we always go to my sister's house for a bbq and bday party. On the 3rd we usually go to see the town's fireworks. My dog's birthday is the 5th and we ALWAYS celebrate that. LOL

Making the 12 hour drive to southwest Iowa (HOME!) to spend the 4th with about a hundred siblings, nieces, nephews, in-laws, aunts, uncles and cousins, some of whom I haven't seen in 20 + years. I don't get to many family reunions so I'm looking forward to it.
 
That sounds like a very interesting and relaxing long weekend, Jane! Enjoy it! :)

Just call me Miss Boring. The only 4th activity I'll get to participate in is being at Mom & StepDad's house while the stepfamily comes over to eat the free food and play on their boat. They ignore me, my sisters and my mom so it's no fun for us. We make the best of it and stick together...but it's still a pretty miserable day for us. And yes, I am whining! LOL x( I'll work on my attitude until Monday..... ;)

That okay Connie, you can whine to me anytime. I've done enough whining for both of us today though. I have got to get some sleep tonight or there will be no living with me tomorrow. I can't even stand myself!!
 
Sign me up for the whiner's club. I'll be stuck in NYC, looking for something to do that doesn't involve standing for hours in a jam-packed crowd, waiting for a fireworks display that I can't really see because my view is blocked (tried that one year, obviously--no more!). Seriously, we're not taking a vacation this year and I am having beach- and peace-and-quiet withdrawal.
