Nosy minds want to know. Do share ;-) Don't be shy. No one will laugh if you're reading a book on the history of bowling or a book with a shirtless Fabio (has he ever been spotted in a shirt??) on the cover.

I am currently reading Zora Neale Hurston's "Their Eyes Were Watching God" I read it in college many moons ago but decided to pick it up as it is part of our library's Big Read program where everyone in the city reads and discusses a particular book (they are doing this around the country with different books). Since I'm not much of a fiction reader, I decided to take this opportunity to get a free book from my library and read something good. I'm glad to have picked this up again...I find myself reading some of the lines because her words are just so powerful.

I am also just about done reading Brian Steidle's "The Devil Came on Horseback: Bearing Witness to the Genocide in Darfur" I don't know what to say about this book except that I think Steidle an amazing, brave man and the images of horror from this book will never leave my mind. For me, this is one of those "life perspective" changing books.

I went for the best seller list for my book group:

* If I Am Missing or Dead
* Promise Not to Tell

Next up, we'll read Easter Everywhere. It looks really good but not good enough to buy in hard back.

For myself, I've been reading Portrait of an Unknown Woman, but it's really dragging for me. I just finished Virgin Lies, which was pretty good, and Paint It Black, which was disappointing.

Also on my nightstand:
* The Secret (my mother insisted & I do like some of the messages)
* Women & Money (Suze Orman - quite good)
* General & Excess Liability Insurance (You definitely want to borrow that one!)

(Most of these can be found on Amazon; sorry, I'm too lazy to look up the authors. :) )

Collinsmom, I've read everything Jennifer Weiner's written! She is really a good writer with some very entertaining stories. However, my 8 year old CRACKS UP every time he sees her name on the cover, lol. "Her name is really.... weiner??!" :7

I'm reading a pretty terrible romance novel. I can't even remember the name. It's that bad. Something about a fairy and druid protector and crud. Shirtless Fabio would be better. Don't know what I was thinking when I picked that out. I was looking for mindless fluff. This is bad mindless fluff. Was kinda hoping for a book store gift card for mom's day but didn't get one. Will have to go spend my own $$ now for a better book. But as for recent hits "Belladonna" by Anne Bishop and "The 13th Tale" by I can't remember. I'm really looking forward to the new "Harry Potter" And then my favorite adult book is "The Black Jewels Trilogy" by Anne Bishop. I hear there's a new Black Jewels book coming out next spring. Very excited!!! And when I was little I loved the Wizard of Oz books. Read them all. Can't wait til my son is old enough to read them. Will be like finding old friends again.

"Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser, and its the most chilling unputdownable bit of non-fiction I've read in some time...

Just finished reading a good one...."Same Different As Me" by Ron Hall and Denver Moore.

I am reading Trans-Sister Radio by Chris Bohjalian, who wrote Midwives (which I loved). This book is about a man who has a sex change and how it effects his relationships that he had before the sex change. Very interesting book.

I'm currently reading The Feast of All Saints by Anne Rice. So far so good but I have yet to really get into it. I've loved all of her books so I'm sure I'll like it. Next, I'm reading Water for Elephants (recommended here) and The Last Wife of Henry VIII. On a side note, I read Vegan with a Vengeance yesterday and what a GREAT cookbook!!!!!!! EVERYTHING in there looks so delicious!!! Last night I tried her pizza recipe and it was so yummy:9 .

The Long Run by Leo Furey. It's set in a Catholic orphanage for boys in Newfoundland in the 60's. The boys have a secret club and decide to train for a local marathon without anyone knowing. It's kind of funny, kind of sad and I have no idea how it's going to end up.

The 6th Target by James Patterson

"Band of Brothers" by Stephen Ambrose. Just finished "Flags Of Our Fathers" by James Bradley yesterday.

Hello, fitfairy!
Wow you sound like me...I grew up with very little exposure to church and little understanding of the Bible. I was exposed more to catholic church than anything else, but I would consider our family methodist. I am sort of resentful toward my mom for not providing me with an upbringing knowing God and Jesus more intimately. I have resolved to not subject my own children to this and we go to church each Sunday and speak of God and Jesus all the time.
And I am reading (for the second time) the Read & Learn version of the bible to my daughter right now. It has provided me a great "starting" point to jump into the "real" Bible.
I am currently finishing up "THE SECRET" by Rhonda Byrne. I feel blessed to have seen this book on Oprah.
I just ordered "90 minutes in Heaven" and can't wait to read it!
Take Care! ~~

I picked up "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West" by Gregory Maguire last week when I was in Toronto. I had thought about reading it last year, but the mood wasn't right.

It's actually pretty cool. I'm at about the halfway point and I'm getting so it's all I want to do is read it. I both love and hate when that happens.

I am reading my bible too, I read four chapters a day and then get in an hour of prayer. I am also reading a lesson on "the flesh," which is through www.second8thweek.com They have a free online university.

Mt.26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Rom.7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

Romans 8:1-13

Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets.

Yes, I am way behind the times. Just started reading the series a couple weeks ago. I have never even seen any of the movies.

Taking a break from re-reading Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series (great series but LONG!) with a bit of light Nora Roberts reading.
