Just starting to get the forehead lines and around the nose to mouth area...driving me CRAZY.. I have tried many things to no avail..thinking about trying the Roc intensive retinol treatment, anyone used it?? I am sooo tired of buying stuff that dont work..help..suggestions..what works for you:)

SUNSCREEN! - SBF 30. From what I've read, not only does sunscreen prevent against sun damage today, but provides a protective layer that lets your skin heal itself. My forehead wrinkles have decreased since wearing ss daily. People routinely think I'm 10-15 years younger than I am. I don't use any anti-wrinkle, retinol, etc. Just a good moisturizer topped with ss.

Hi there,

I use to be with another skin care company until last year, my friend asked me one simple question ( I won't bore you with my story of how I switched :) but will just say, after some of the things she shared with me and being health conscious, I decided to give the product a try. She gave me a sample of the anti-aging and Thermal Fusion Enzyme mask (which is a safe alternative to a chemical peel) and within two days, I could see my pregnancy mask start to diminsh and I was SOLD!!! ( I immediately switched skin care companies and it was by far the best choice I have ever made :)

You can read up on it at my web-site and if you are interested, I can send you a sample. :)

I use Renova (basically the same thing as RetinA, except it is in a moisturizing base). It is available with a prescription only. It is great. Of course, I also use a sunscreen everyday along with my moisturizer and makeup. You only apply the Renova at bedtime.

Water, not smoking, getting enough rest, working out, being mindful of the expression on my face during the day. Seriously. Aging is aging, and in the end you can't fight it. I'm sure you're beautiful just as you are, and the people in your life who love you will still love you even with the tiny wrinkles. Spend your money on new workouts instead.

I've been using the Wrinkle decrease for about 2 months. I don't know if it's really doing anything or not with the fine lines (it must be!) but my skin definitely likes it! It seems to be much smoother and healthier looking - could be all the exercise too! :) Also I have oily skin and so always have to buy oil-free products. I was afraid this might cause me to break-out but I think it's the best product I have ever used and I've not had any break-outs. I'm using both the serum and the cream. In the past I've good luck with Loreal products.

thanks for the wrinkle decrease suggestion, sent for my free sample... I do use sunscreen, drink water, work out..I also do agree that aging is aging but if you can buffer it a little I say yeah!! just like exercising we try to improve our bodies, just trying to boost the face with a little help, as far as carol is fits post, I caught myself wrinkling up my forward when talking..it must be so automatic I am not aware of it, thanks for the suggestion, I will try to be more aware of facial expressions. not like this onex( :-( :-( haha

I agree with Jo here.

I too started using the L'Oreal Wrinke Decrease with Boswelox and I like it better than any other product I have tried (which inlcudes Olay regenerating products and Neutrogena and ROC products).

It is light and absorbs beautifully. It gives me a matte finish rather than a greasy one. Like Jo, I have oily skin too, and this is the only product that keeps the greasies and breakouts at bay. I use the Serum and eye cream, after washing in the mroning and at night. I have ben surprised that I can even use these products on hot days and I do not end up looking like a greasy mess after just an hour, as I do with all other products.

My skin looks younger, my husband keeps telling me so, and to my eye, it looks better. But I also factor in here the new hormonal contraceptive I am using (Nuvaring) that is doing so much to improve the quality of my life generally, that I feel it is also having a rejuvenating effect on me. My husband maarvels at the chage in me: he tells me several times a week how young I am looking. It's fabulous!

Yes, aging is aging, Carol, and I accept that. I am not going to have a face lift ever. But I do not see why accepting aging rules out the use of a product that can make your skin look supple and soft and help you stay looking as young as you feel inside. So, I disagree with Carol here, and my husband's comments are proof of the effectiveness of certain products!

Who needs to look 50 before their time?

Hi groundhog!

You know, I can't even remember where or when I heard that about unconscious facial expressions, but it has been proven to contribute to wrinkles over time. Heredity plays a big part too, as does your individual lifestyle. There are so many things that make a difference, both inside and out. Creams and such only affect the outside. What happens inside the skin and inside the body is not something you can fix with a skin care product, no matter what the ads may say. They only go down so far under the skin. What you eat, how much water you drink, your lifestyle, your health habits ... all that eventually shows on your skin. I hope the sample you sent for does all you want it to do!

Carol

Clare, I don't know why you believe I would care what your husband says about your skin. I gave my opinion and I moved on. Can't you do the same? I never said using skin care products is ruled out. I do use them. But they only do so much, and quite truthfully I can't afford a lot of the stuff out there. At any rate, what I said to the original poster is my OPINION, and nothing more. I'm entitled to it. I don't care if you agree or disagree with it. Why you feel the need to tell me is beyond me, but you do it very often, so it must fill some need in you. Whatever. I just wish you'd use someone else to fill your needs because quite frankly, your post is offensive to me. I don't feel as if I can post an opinion on this site that is different, or out of the mainstream, or non-conformist without you (and you do this quite often to me) or someone else on here taking it personally. That's just ridiculous. To take someone's opinion on a public message board personally is just silly. When that happens, these threads go on to resemble a group of 13 year old girls arguing, or worse. I'm really disheartened that this happens here so often. I can see why people stop posting here. I really can.

At any rate, I'm thrilled to pieces you like what you use, but do me a favor, okay? Stop singling out my opinions to validate your own. It proves nothing, and it's not useful or positive.

Thanks.

Carol

Hi Teresa,

I have the pregnancy mask you are talking about and am really interested in this product. Where can you get it? I've had this mask stuff for 5-6 years now and would really like to diminish it!

TIA....Sami

I do agree that what goes on down deep also is a big factor, I am not the healthiest person in the world and take a lot of meds so that does affect the outside. I will start drinking more water though. I dont smoke, thank god,..that would not help. I am sorry that this thread turned kinda ugly, not my intention, I think that everyone has a different spin on things, but that is where you can take those different spins and learn some things from them. I like to come here and get others opinions and just chat and have fun, everyone has good points here. Lets just keep things lite and fun, I appreciate all different views, thank you:7 :7 :7

Carol:

You always blow things way out of proportion. Calm down.

I am entitled to disagree with you. You always get irate when others disagree with you, yet you never hesitate to come on here and assert your rights to disagree with someone else.

The issue here was "anti-aging products". It is not a life and death issue, really quite mild. It doesn't deserve all your aanger. I certainly felt none towards you. I have not attacked you personally, yet you have felt free to attack me personally. Stick to the issue. And do me a favour: save your vittriole and passion for the issues that matter.

I know you will come back on here to have the last word, you always do. I won't be back to this thread, so, I shan't read your words nor address any more to you.

I never expected you would be interested in what my husband thinks: those comments were destined to the original poster. It was for her benefit that I tried to post an alternative perspective. However, I cited your name because I can engage you in a philosophical discussion about attitudes toward aging, right? That would be something productive. I am not here to single you out for criticism: but just as you disagree pointedly with others' stated opinions on a regular basis, so do and will I.

Clare

I was just reading that there are a couple of prescription products (Renova? and something that starts with an A) that can help reduce wrinkles that were caused by sun exposure (the main cause of premature wrinkling).

That said, some things just come with age. And sometimes, it seems like lines and wrikles can appear overnight. I HATED seeing those nose-to-mouth lines appear. And there's a long wrinkle-in-formation at the edge of one eye that's just waiting to appear (I can see it when I look in my bathroom mirror at a certain angle). But I try to look at the positive: I don't have the around-the-eye wrinkles that many other women my age (47) and even younger have, because I've stayed out of the sun or used "protection" for many years.

Kathryn,

I know what you mean about the nose to mouth lines - I have those (I am 48) - I use to just obsess about them - it could get me real down and I had to let it go - but let me tell you - I do not as you said have the lines under the eyes or bags under the eyes - I an very grateful for that.

As for the lines from nose to mouth - well, I look at other people now to see if they have them or not- and there are some women in their 70's even I have seen that do not have them. Why do I? I haven't a clue - but my 17 year old daughter - I can faintly see the beginnings of them for her - poor girl she inherited it from me. My 30 year old daughter does not have them (even a hint) yet. But she has a very deep crease under each eye that I do not have and it drives her crazy - she can't figure out why I do not have this whrn she has had this for years now and she is only 30.

Who can figure it out? I have lots of people guess my age at 30 or so - so I can't be doing too bad. I just accept it - and use the best product for my face - I know I have always laughed and smiled lots in my life - But I sure won't stop doing that - I call them my laugh lines!

Cheryl

And you know what I've noticed: If you smile, all your "wrinkles" and "lines" and "troughs" :) suddenly disappear into the expression.

I hate jowls, too. And that's definitely hereditary. My mother had them, and I've had the beginnings of them for a while.

I sometimes think we'd feel better about aging if mirrors hadn't been invented! I know that sometimes when I look in the mirror, I'm seeing someone who looks older than I feel. Without mirrors, we'd only see ourselves reflected in others eyes! Or we'd see a not-too-sharp reflection in a lake or shiny surface, and the wrinkles and lines and stuff wouldn't show so much.
