We're In This Together **APRIL**

May I join in on this thread? I discovered Cathe's workouts last July and am totally addicted to her workouts. I would love the opportunity to chat w/ some like minded individuals :). I've been lurking on the forums since Jan. and find they are very informative and encouraging. I'm trying to decide which rotation I should start. I looked at Cathe's April rotation and I think it's a little to high impact for my needs right now. I'm contemplating the all LIS rotation or the 3 month transformation rotation...hmmmm decisions, decisions.
Amy

Hello Friends.
Yes, Amy. I have no problem with you joining us. Please let us know more about you. I live in west MI-lower, 50, have been working out since 1989, divorced and no kids. On May 1st will be our starting date for STS Strength with cardio on recovery days. I started Cathe 6 years ago and own most of her workouts plus equipment although I knew who she was long before. Her wedding video workout came out during my divorce.

Time for a nap

Hi everyone :)

Sure Amy you can join us. Welcome :). We are all "lurkers" I think lol ;)
As far as rotations, I've done the Nov LIS , Dec hi/lo & Feb lower body with great results. The other wonderful ladies on here have done STS and may help you further if you have questions/comments about the LIS/STS 3 month rotation. I just acquired STS and won't be starting until May with Jen. IMO, you can't go wrong with LIS/STS 3 month, especially if you need low impact cardio as an alternative. The only problem I think people might have, is that 3 months is a long time to commit yourself to one rotation. There is also LIS/STS Total Body one month rotation if you prefer.

Today's w/o marks the end of March's rotation. CSS is planned, but for some reason I have been wanting to do Bob Harper's Cardio Conditioning. Both use weights incorporated with cardio to keep the HR up, but Bob's is higher impact. Both also have plank exercises, so I think it's a comparable substitute. I hate to deviate from the rotation, but I have a wondering eye sometimes and must give in to the temptation ;).

Have a wonderful evening ladies :)

Natty and Amy, the first time I did STS rotation, it took me about 4.50 months. Hopefully, a shorter time period this time.

Hi Amy! Welcome! We are all somewhat newbies to Cathe I think on here too! When you first discover her you get pretty passionate about her workouts!:D Tell us some more about yourself! My name is Colleen and I'm an optometrist in Western Wisconsin (Lacrosse area). I've been working out to Cathe for roughly 1 1/2 years now. I've recently realized I reach for her stuff about 90% of the time even though I have a ton of other workout dvd's!

Speaking of other dvd's, Natty, I love Bob's Cardio Rev! I haven't done it in months and I keep thinking I need to find a day to fit it in! I liked that one a lot better than his Ultimate Cardio workout actually.

Today I did STS Meso 2 week 1 chest, shoulders and triceps. I feel like I got more out of it than the first time because my form with weights is getting better as I learn this stuff. I worked really hard to keep my neck relaxed and traps/shoulders down during the workout. It really helped to look at myself in the mirror as I did the exercises. I have a mirror on my bedroom door and I usually have the door open so I can't see the mirror but I purposely used it this time. It helped to have that visual feedback.
Then I did the step portion of Intensity! I did pretty good for the most part! I tell you, a 4 inch step is plenty for that one! I was afraid I wouldn't get much of a workout trying to learn the steps with the 4 inch but I was still sweating bullets!

Have a great night everybody!

Colleen-congrats on doing the step portion of intensity!! Visual feedback is good, I just listen to Cathe on form and follow her and crew.

Good News: My NEW internship host wants to integrate me into more projects cause she likes me plus I feel her Uncle, whom knows me, gave me the thumbs up too. Plus, she wants to pay me for accounting/customer service. Meeting is Tuesday afternoon so plenty needs to be done before we get there. Letting go and having Faith has helped. The funds will help pay for my tooth and replenish my IKEA fund too.

Thanks for letting me join your group. I'm 38 years old, a nurse and Ace certified PT. I'm married and we have four cats, no kids. I've been working out with exercise DVDs for about 18 years. I was never into sports in school. I own way too many exercise DVDs. P90X Insanity , Turbo fire, Supreme 90 and I have collected all of Cathe's DVDs, that are currently available on her website. I told you guys I have issues. :).
I started the LIS/STS three-month transformation rotation yesterday. My body just needs a break from all the high impact workouts I've been doing lately. My dogs have been barking.lol. So with everyone's support on this thread, hopefully I'll be able to make it through the three months without caving to have some high-impact workouts! My Cathe favorites are intensity, athletic step, LIC, and the cardio portion of body max 2.
I work 8 to 5 Monday through Friday so I usually work out in the evening when I get home and take Fridays off.
Thanks again for all the introductions ladies. I look forward to reading your posts everyday.
Amy

Amy, I used to be ACE certified as a Aerobics Instructor. I gave it up but my CECs were all addiction/nutrition. What State/Country do you live in?

Happy Monday ladies :)

Yesterday's w/o was Bob Harper's Cardio Conditioning (sub for CSS). I have not done his stuff in almost 1 year and decided it would be nice to re-visit the lonely little guy . That is one TOUGH sucker. I was sweating bullets within 10min. I should have stuck with CSS lol. If you are not familiar with it, it's a cardio w/o but using weights; lots of burpees, mountain climbers, spider push-ups, regular push-ups, side planks, jacks w/weights overhead, front swings (I used my 10lbs kettlebell), crazy squat holds, ect. He is EVIL in this w/o. I find myself rolling my eyes a lot with his crew though. They make faces like such wimps, especially the dude in the back whose form really sucks. The guy can't even squat, he was standing, drenched in sweat. I was like "ok buddy, just do the damn workout and stop half a**ing it". The fun factor is missing, and the endless amount of front swing can get pretty boring. I was thinking of Cathe a lot

Today's w/o is the first of my Dec '10 rotation w/STS TB . I'm pretty stoked. I see Greg is in it, and he is one hot tamale ;)

Amy
Just a little about me. My name is Natasha, I'm 33yrs old. I live in Bradford, Canada, which is 40min north of Toronto. I am a SAHM to my daughter Izabella (3yrs old). I've been with my husband for 15 years now. I also have 2 cats; 13 years old, domestic short hairs, 1 boy and 1 girl. They are my other 2 kids lol. I found Cathe May 2011, and just like everyone else, I've been hooked ever since. I also like Jari Love, Jillian Michaels, Bob Harper, Paul Katami and Tom Holland from Supreme 90-Day. I like everything from walking to bike riding, step, kickboxing, weight training, hiit, kettle bell. I'm also a high impact gal, but with temperamental knee's and a bad lower back, I like to switch it up with LIS. Welcome!
Colleen
Intensity  . Love it! Congrats on even attempting it! It is intimidating, especially if you are new to more complex choreo. I find it's more along the lines of athletic-type step now (comparing it to Step Moves). 4inch is plenty and will still give you a great w/o.
I should bring my mirror into my w/o room. I think I would have better form with visuals too.
I used to like Bob, but that w/o annoyed me yesterday. Too many front swings. On the upside, my legs have a nice bout of DOMS. I think the kettlebell is more effective for those swings than a dumbbell.
Jen
Great news!!!! Keeping my fingers crossed for you all the way :) Hang in there!

Have a great day ladies :)

Hi Everyone.

I'm not 100%, but I am feeling better. Yesterday I took an Epsom salts bath because I was so sore from coughing. I didn't workout the last 2 days and so now do I go back to Friday's DVD or just skip to Monday's workout? I don't I guess it's going to come down to what I feel like doing today.

Colleen- I signed up for VFF to see about the tradind DVD's but then I realized I have nothing I'm willing to trade : (

Sometimes I go look in the mirrows for shoulder exercises so I can make sure I'm not raisinf my shoulders to my ears.

I was thinking when I watched that Kettleworx commercial that it looked crappy but to each their own. I did a little research on the other titles you gave me. I think I will keep my eye out on ebay.

Jen - I'm happy your getting your foot in the door and getting paid for it.

Nat - I do find myself looking at form alot. Which is another reason why I stick with Cathe for the most part.

Good to meet you Amy. I'm Sarah and am 38 too. I a SAHM of 3 and 1 Dog. I too was never into sports growing up. I didn't play one single sport. I've been doing Cathe for about 5 years, I think. I am still trying to get her complete collection but this year rather than buying alot of DVD's I decided to get a spin bike instead so I am learning that right now and on my last 2 weeks of the STS/LIS rotation.

Sarah

No workout for me today! I'm still feeling the DOMS from Butts and Guts Saturday and now I've got killer upper body DOMS from STS yesterday!

Amy, I'm pretty close to you and Sarah in age. I'm 39 (turning the big 4-0 in October:eek:). I know what you mean about taking a break from the high impact stuff. I can do it still but I try to limit it to 2 times a week now. When I first got back into working out about 2 years ago I started out slow with pilates and yoga but then as time went on, I added circuits and high impact. I got a bit too enthusiastic and went over board with the high impact...sometimes working out 9 days in a row with lots of high impact circuits. My knees protested and forced me to moderate a bit.;) I love Cathe's LIS for that because I can throw those in once or twice a week in addition to weight training (which I never did when I worked out in college). Not only have I had better cosmetic results with toning up and strength but mixing it up has also been much nicer to my knees! When I did STS recently I actually took the high impact down to once a week (3 days of STS, 1 day high impact cardio and one day of LIS) and my knees thanked me even more!

Sarah- I would definitely just do what you feel like today. It doesn't even have to be in the rotation if your not feeling up to it. Maybe some yoga? Do you have Travel Fit? I find that a challenging workout but not one that'll kill you when you aren't feeling 100%.

Natty- I know what you mean about the guys in Bob's workouts. Why the heck are they such wimps? They look all beefy...there is just no way they should be looking as wrecked as they do while the girls are kicking butt! I even noticed on STS sometimes I swear it looked like the guys were grabbing smaller weights than the girls! I definitely agree with Sarah, I look to Cathe for excellent form these days. I feel like she's the only one I can trust with weights! I do like Jari Love's cardio though and I appreciate that cardio only premix!

Jen- that's awesome you used to be an aerobics instructor! I don't think I knew that. Maybe you mentioned it before? Congratulations on the internship stuff. It looks like things may be going your way soon! Now to get the teeth feeling better!

Have a great day girls!

Hello Again.
Sarah-Good you're taking time off from working out. You can do more harm than good if you do. When I get ill, I run my warm-water humidifier b/c it moisturizes inside my system plus the perk of my skin as well. Never done the bath thing for it. learned something new everyday.
Colleen-Thanks for your suggestion to Sarah, Travel Fit, I have it and might try it later on tonight.
My meeting Tuesday afternoon will be one of many to determine how much I should get paid plus it determined if she pays me, how much more business can she do. It is an answer to prayer in an unusual way.
Yes, I used to be ACE certified from 1990 to almost 2003 when I purchased my house. The ACE test is similiar to an LPN exam and is run like the American SATs for college entrance. My test and re-test were both held at major universities plus very strict rules on testing procedures.
My teeth will be fixed in two weeks unless I get them done prior where my Dad is currently working.

STS Disc 7 (chest, biceps, and shoulders) was on the schedule for today and it sounded ok as opposed to cardio. I started the workut wearing Uggs (if that gives you a clue of mentally where I was). I got to the 11th exercise, it was 8 narrow push-ups and kicked butt. Felt great thought, oooo this is easy. Followed by the the 8 wide. Again thought ooo feels great. Then came the 30 reg push-ups. Put me in my place to say the least.

There was one more exercise that kicked my butt. By this time the Uggs were off. I looked at the weight on my card loaded my barbell. Saw the weight that the guy had, knew I had more, got a little smirk on my face from gloating to myself. The smirk left after the first rep. I had pause, unload the weight, and start again.

I think I will look into TravelFit, thanks for the recommendation.

Sarah

Well, today was my day off but I just got a dvd from Amazon that I wanted to try out for abs. We were getting something off there and getting this one brought the total to over $25 for the free shipping (good excuse, right??;)). It's called Gorgeous Core by Suzanne Bowen. I just did the first section called Long and Lean (12 min). Me likey!

Good morning ladies :)

Yesterday's w/o was STS TB (day 1 of my Dec '10 rotation). I have decided to start writing #'s down in preparation for my upcoming STS rotation in May. I figure this will be a good habit to get into, as I'm not the type of gal who likes paperwork. I felt I could go up in #'s for my chest presses, but like the dummy I am, never thought of placing 2 chairs beside me so I can place the bar on it when I was done . I was trying to put it on my lap, and it felt really heavy and awkward (ha ha and dangerous) to have 40lbs on me while getting up . Man, I wish I had a tower :(.

Sarah
I'm glad to hear you are feeling better :).
You're w/o yesterday sounded so funny! The Uggs thing made me laugh. You are strong to do all those triceps push-ups and then 8 wide. Who can do 30 after those? Honestly
Travel Fit is really good! Don't underestimate band work, it's pretty hard! The low impact cardio is too easy though, as I find myself doing high impact to get my HR up.
I hope you have a good day with the kiddies today :)
Colleen
Amazon gets you with the $25. They force you to buy more so you can get free shipping. Smart.
How on earth were you doing chest presses without a tower? Where did you put your barbell afterwards? I can't see you doing less than 50lbs in Meso 3. I'm already at 45-50 and I have not even started yet!
Jari has bad form, you're right. I have her "Revved To The Max" download and found her weight exercises very awkward, so much that it's hard to keep good form. I only did that video once or twice at the most. The guy in the video, Adam, he is super cute. Jari has him instructing this one section and he totally rocked it! The hardest and best portion of the video. He did this thing called Gorilla Walks, where you walk forward in a plie stance over your step, do a few lateral raises, and then walk back in a plie stance. Toughie, toughie!
Jen
I hope your meeting goes well today! (((Positive vibes)))

TTYL! Have a wonderful day!

Good Morning Friends,
Meeting today and turbulent weather of heavy rain, thunder and lightening, I haven't seen my cats since about 6AM when it started. They hide in the basement.
Meeting at 230pm, I need to trust GOD on this. Many of my fellow cohorts in the program are finally getting interviews which is great, I hope to be there with them soon unless my internship goes FT and the money is worthwhile. I know I can do the job.
No workout last night, my energy not there yet. Good news, due to good eating at home, I dropped about 5 pounds of the weight I put on from eating and drinking so much for the fever.

Quick post...

REALLY EXCITED! I checked my Air Miles account today (a points card here in Canada), and I have enough for a $135.00 gift card. The Atlas Turbo Tower is back in stock!!!! I can use my gift card and get it!!!! :D :D :D
I told Mark I'm cashing in on my miles for it and he did this . Ha, ha whatever.
I'm doing the happy dance!

BBL, going to walk around the mall w/Bella.

Interview tomorrow with a vendor from my former industry. I think they may try to low ball me on salary but I'm going cause they may have something better or a way to get in the door. Now, I have to mention it to my internship host.

Natty-Great purchase. It does hold barbells as well for weight work. Mark doesn't get it yet. Congrats!!!
