We're In This Together (01/27-02/03)

oh Nikki I totally feel for you and the stomach flu! That is my most dreaded illness...give me a cold or even regular flu any day over the wretched stomach virus! :( Glad to hear you're feeling better! Thanks for responding in my lower body thread...I definitely have to get Gym style legs! My wish list keeps getting longer and longer.:p

Natty- I love Paul Katami too! Unfortunately I find his stuff is too intense for me to do while doing STS. I really miss doing his kettlebell work outs and his ASAP Hollywood Bootcamp 4x4! My rough plan for the year is to finish STS, then go back to kettlebells and circuit work outs for about 3 months, then do another round of STS this summer and finish out the year with KB/circuit stuff again. I feel like the two styles of training compliment each other and have different benefits so I'm shaking things up this year. Do you think the Jari Love one I asked you about (Get Extremely Ripped 1000) could be considered just cardio for my off STS days? As far as recovery weeks, I'm doing it this time because it's built into the STS program that you are supposed to do that. I did try to take a lighter week a few months back as I felt I was getting a little too close to over training. I just did yoga/light cardio work outs...but I only made it to day 5 before I broke out Butts and Gutts!

Good luck with your busy schedule Jen! I get tired just thinking about all the stuff you have to do! It was hard for me to be consistent about working out when I was in school and dealing with all that. Get as much sleep as you can! May be even more important that working out!;)

Yes Colleen, chose the cardio only pre-mix on Jari's w/o. It's 45min of cardio only on the step/floor. The last 5min, I think are push-ups, which really get your HR up, but you can skip that...........it's a killer!! But probably not if you are doing Meso 1 :D. Let me know how you like it.

Nikki- Nothing I can say, stomach flu is the worst. Hopefully, it won't run it's course through your whole family.

Jen-I hope your not being hard on yourself for not exercising or not being into to it as much as you have been. Your schedule is scary to me.

Nat- I saw Cathe's post and I really enjoyed reading that thread. I dont own a scale I usually weigh myself when I visit my mom and thats even to much at times.

Ellie- I hope you and your family are well. No more sickness.

Colleen- I have my STS rest week next week and am thinking I might just kick up the cardio. What do you think?

I had another sick kid home the last 2 days with a cold. So I only was able to exercise 1 day. But today I did LIC AT and really enjoyed it. Despite having sore hammies from STS 16 yesterday.

Colleen - I forgot to add, Gym Style Legs is one of my favs too.

Sometimes times I play around and go and fill up my shopping cart on Cathe.com just to see how much money I need in order to get all the remainders that I want. Stupid, I know.

Sarah- I would just kick up the cardio and leave weights alone. I did a kettlebell workout yesterday and even though I just made sure to keep it cardio and mostly swings I am actually sore today...and I'm not sure I'm supposed to be this week! I looked in my collection and had a hard time finding cardio only workouts I felt like doing that weren't killer. So I ended up not doing anything this morning! I went to WalMart today and actually picked up a few Leslie Sansone walking dvds for some low impact/less intense cardio for tonight. I figure it's good to have a few of these on hand for cases like today!

I also may be getting an elliptical! I researched them online last year and all the ones I really wanted were in the $2000-$3000 range so I never ended up getting one. My husband said "I couldn't sleep at night if I knew you spent that much on an elliptical"! Fast forward to yesterday and he may have found one used that was originally that much but the person is moving and is willing to sell it for less than $500! Apparently this woman bought a Nautilus NE 2000 when she was separated from her husband to p**s him off and hardly used it. Now she is divorced, moving and wants to get rid of it! The only bad thing is we found out this model is discontinued so if something happens to it we may not be able to get parts for it...

I checked out the video clip of Gym style legs and now I want it! My wish list keeps getting longer.:D So many workouts so little time!!

Good evening ladies :)

Wanted to do Step Moves today........I can't move so it's a rest day. Really bad LB-DOMS. I did however go on a lovely walk to the local drugstore to p/u a few things. Walking is my favorite form of exercise when I want something light and easy.

Sarah
I do the Cathe cart thing too! Except my cart is probably the fullest out of anyone here. I have yet to try some of Cathe's greatest.........slowly but surely.
I hope your children feel better soon :(
Colleen
What a great price for an elliptical! I wonder how often those things break? I would never spend $3000 on one!! That's friggin' nuts!!!! I mean really, talk about overpriced pieces of fitness equipment. You should be able to write it off on your taxes.........the government wants their citizens to be fit so why not give them a break if they purchase big $$ equipment.

Jen, Nikki, Ellie
Hope all is well. Have a great night.

Hello girls!
Sorry to have been away from the board all the week long but we had a busy time here.On top of flu, stomack sickness and so on we had even snow. We had a good 12" layer of white, soft and hated snow just in a couple of days. At work I couldn't change my shifts so stayed at work till 9 p.m. and then came at home pretty late bacause of the bad conditions of streets. What really makes me annoyed with this snow thing is that I live in a place where EVERY YEAR we have snow, and every year people behaves like if it was the first time in their lives: it seems they can't drive anymore, traffic becomes too slow even when streets are clean... Oh well, we'll make through that even this time ;)

I've tried to stay active though: sunday it was afterburn, and had DOMS in my glutes for 3 days thanks to those dixie cups lunges...:DHaven't done them in a while...they work glutes in an amazing way! Monday was 4ds premixes: back-triceps-shoulders followed by lower intensity step. Tuesday I managed to do the Body blast timesaver kickbox (a shorter version of KPC) and wed had to take a forced day off. yesterday I did Athletic training and sooo loved it...Everytime I do that I love love love it even more...And this morning woke up early to to Turbobarre Leg express premix.
Tomorrow should be HIIT...We'll see.

I read carefully the February lower body rotation and I think I'll try to follow that starting from Monday. Anyone trying to stick with that for this month?

Just one line about jewelry: I just wear my wedding ring and I don't care about jewels. I have very few of them and just wear them because they represent a special moment of my life, but DH knows that I am so much happier with a new piece of fitness equipment that with a necklace!:D

Natty: congrats on your weight loss! I've learnt no to weight too often as I know that it won't make me any good. The scale doesn't tell you if you're becoming leaner, while a pair of skinny jeans will... for sure!;)

Collen: you should try TST LB: it is also aerobic, it packs a lot in just 40 minutes! I did it a few times and really enjoyed it also because it's pretty fast! I like also Gym Style Legs, I would buy it a dd as it is on sale this week!

Nikki: hope you're feeling better and have a quick total recovery!

Sarah: I do the cart thing too. But on the DD website as shipping cost are high and because it will take too long before I get my new work-outs! Hope your family is well.

Jen: I've been thinking of you this week, and could only imagine all of your tension, fears, joys and hopes all mixed together: you're in a very delicate moment of your life, so many things to start and so many are happening...I really admire you for all you do and keep my fingers crossed, sending good vibes to you and hoping that everything will go in the right direction, one step after the other ;)

Have a great weekend everyone!!!
