Wen Hair Care System

I took a quick look at the ingredients & honestly, it looks like something you could get at your local drugstore.

I can give you some tips for hair growth though. I'm trying to grow mine out as well, & this is what's worked for me--I haven't had my hair cut since July, my hair is about 6 inches longer & I still have yet to see a split end:

--Deep condition at least every other week. I DC every Sunday with a heated cap.
--Take hair growth supplements. Biotin is at the top of the list. I take 1000 mcg a day.
--Use as little heat as possible. If you can, air dry your hair. If you have to use a blow dryer, don't let it remain on one spot for more than a second or two. Avoid flat irons like the plague.
--Buy shampoos that don't have sulfate in them. I recommend Johnson & Johnson. Inexpensive & gentle. Clarify once a week w/Suave clarifying shampoo.
--Don't use silicones, they can be very drying to your hair.

Good luck! :)

Thank you so much, Laura! I will do everything you recommend. So doing all this has really shown a significant growth in your hair??

This is awesome!

Most definitely! But you have to give the supplements some time to work--probably 3-4 mos. My hairdresser told me the average person's hair grows a half to a full inch per month, but I'm pretty sure mine grows faster than that. I know b/c my grays start to seriously show like 3 weeks after I get color.

Thanks again for the wonderful advice!!! My hair is spikey short so its going to take a LONG time for it to grow out to where I want it. God give me patience! LOL!

I fell asleep with the tv on and this informercial came on and I was half asleep when it was on because I woke up and thought I had the weirdest dream. This guy that looked like Seth Green but all weirded out telling me not to wash my hair and that he hasn't washed his hair in x amount of years!

A few days went by and I coulndn't get this image out of my head so I googled a few times and found this web site.

Keep us posted if it works!

I really liked the Wen hair care system, but it's pricey. Sally beauty supply has a knockoff called Hair One that sells for only 10.99 a bottle and I think its equal to the Wen product.

I like wen also but it's to expensive for me right now. I'll have to check out that Hair One product.

QVC sells the WEn line, and there are very mixed reviews on it. Some people love it, while others find it leaves their hair greasy.

Probably the glycerin which, oddly enough, is a great frizz reducer in humid weather but is awful in dry weather. I think it's the main ingredient, so if you're that antsy for glycerin in your hair, go to the Rite Aid & buy yerself some K-Y. ;)

I live in Florida so we don't have many dry weather days maybe that's why I like it. Nah, no K-Y for my hair thanks.;)

I like Wen alot, but not for everyday. I alternate it in with other conditioning shampoos like All Soft, what I don't like, iis it being a cleansing conditioner, I don't feel my hair gets clean enough for me. But I love the way my hair dries nice and straight with it. I did not like being tied down to auto program, so I'll just buy it from qvc or amazon when I need it.

Laura-What kind of Deep Conditioner do you use every sunday for your hair? And where do i get a heated cap? TIA:)

I use something like this:

http://www.treasuredlocks.com/prcoheca.html

I wrap my hair in a turban towel to protect it from the plastic & leave it on for 20-30 minutes.

I use a variety of DCs. You can be really creative w/this. Anything w/shea butter as the main ingredient is great. I like Biolage deep conditioning balm. Sometimes I'll use an oil DC, but it's not my fave b/c I have to wash my hair right after, & I prefer to wait 24 hours after a DC before I wash.

Laura, what do you think of V05's hot oil treatment? Would this be good to use for the weekly treatments? That's what I use to use and I loved it.

Also, when you wash your hair with Johnson & Johnson's shampoo, what do you use to condition it? I need conditioner with every wash or my hair gets really dry.

I wish Aveda wasn't so expensive. I love their line but just cannot afford it. :(

V05 is good. The ingredients have aloe which is a great conditioner.

Aveda is a nice line & has no cones in it, but I could never take the scent, it's so strong!

I have to confess that, while I don't spend much on shampoo, I break the bank on conditioners. I don't shampoo every day but I do condition every day (evidently conditioners have mostly the same cleansing agents as shampoo without the sulfates). It's great for me b/c my hair is so curly, but I don't think it'd work well for straight hair. :p Anyway, the conditioners I use are specifically for curly hair & cost a mint.

You should check into Paula Begoun's book, "Don't Go Shopping for Hair Products Without Me." The first half has great info re. what ingredients to look for when you buy hair products, & the second half is basically a hair product dictionary where Paula rates the products (one to four stars). It's my hair bible!
