Well I just said my goodbyes...

..to my flowergardens :( We have a frost/freeze advisory tonight. I'm always so sad to see them go. I know it's silly..they'll be back next year.

My dream is to someday live somewhere that I can garden year-round. There are days that DH gets home from work and says, "Guess what?" my response is always "You've been transferred and we're moving somewhere warm."

Wishful thinking ;)

Santa Barbara is the place. Fantastic weather all year round. One day perhaps I can too.

I had the last of my garden tomatoes last week. They were delish ! (No tomatoes for me in the winter, I think, since the good-looking organic ones I bought in the store tasted so 'blah' compared to my home-grown ones).

I just cleaned out my tomato beds today, but have some canned for the winter. :) And my fall garden is going strong! Broccoli, cabbage, peas and carrots. This is also the month for planting garlic.

OK Janie - now you have my curiosity up. Did you mean you can garden in SB all year long?

Have to say that the roses lasted for weeks there since the weather is quite temperate with variances of only about 20" from summer to winter. No need for a winter jacket there.

That was the first 20 years of my life and oh how I wish I could have lived there after childhood. Way too expensive after I moved away. Have you been there much?
