Welcome to Bodymax!

Hi everyone,

I ordered the Tae Bo 2004 Capture the Power Series last month and was disappointed with it. The other day, I was thinking, "What am I going to do besides KPC for cardio?" I have very little room to do stepping, but I decided to give Bodymax a go and modify the moves for my space. Well, that is an awesome workout! I didn't complete it and just focused on getting the footwork down and not crashing into my bed!

I'm wondering how Bodymax compares to Cathe's other step workouts, because I of course want to order more now! Is it harder or as hard as most? Tougher or easier choreography? Any recommendations? I know that Rhythmic Step will be too "dancy" for me, so I'm trying to stay away from that. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much!
Gina

Hey Gina: BodyMax is one of my faves and it was my first Cathe. Compared to other Cathe step I believe that the BodyMax music has more beats per minute and so we move a little bit faster and definitely work harder. I am always amazed at how drenched I am after this short but intense workout. StepWorks was made around the same time and is a fabulous workout with some similar choreography. I think StepFit is easier as is StepJam. The older workouts like StepMax and StepHeat are definitely easier but still challenging. As you progress through her tapes you see familiar bits of choreography that show up and give your brain a break between the new bits. Oh yeah, the step and cardio in CTX is also stellar. Don't discount MIC, the mother of all Cathe cardio, the hi/lo can be done on a dime, I modify to my small space all of the time. There isn't a step tape I wouldn't recommend, Cathe's cuing and breakdowns make all of her workouts doable. I always look forward to a full out step workout, it's fun, effective and the time (and sweat) flies.
Sorry to go on so long but as you know, I (we) love all of Cathe's step and hi/lo and kickbox and...........:7 :7

Hi Gina.

My opinion of Bodymax is it's highly under-rated. That tape gives you everything on 1 tape. You can do the whole workout or split it up.
The cardio is easier choreography but intense.

I'd also highly recommend MIC, my first Cathe. There isn't any weight work, but this workout will kick your butt! THe hi/lo is FANTASTIC and the step workout not very complicated at all. I'm going to try Bodymax for the first time tomorrow, but I'm having to give up my usual Saturday MIC, which I'm sad about. But you seem to like it a lot!

Endorphin Junkie, Rhiannon, and Futurefitnessdynamo- Thank you all so much for your comments! I think I'm going to work on learning Bodymax a bit more before buying another workout!

Thanks again,
Gina
