Weights or no weights?

I've worked out for almost a decade now.

The past 2 1/2 yrs I've put on approx. 23 lbs even w/ working out. But my diet & slowing metabolsim was the problem. (or the lack thereof)
Anyhow the past few months I've cleaned up my eating & have noticed some small differences.
I just finished the Chalene Extreme rotation a few days ago and I'm not quite sure where to go from there?
Should I give up weighted workouts for awhile until I've lost some of the fat/pounds?
Should I be using workout that are high rep and low weight? Or heavy weight and low rep?

Thanks For any advice/help/rotations.

From everything I've ever read, you should keep doing weights as lean muscle mass helps burn more calories. You can probably do an Internet search to find some "professional" advice. I'm definitely no professional LOL.
