I got this add in the mail about a product called Micro-cal and apparently it is all natural the main ingredient in it is navy bean. They discovered the navy bean causes weight loss when a field of cows eating navy bean plants were losing weight instead of putting on the beef. Any how I guess I can take a lesson from these weight loss cows, having been called one most of my life and go on this microcal diet. Any one else hear about or try this??

Hi deek,
No I haven't heard of this particular diet, but then there are so many out there!
It's none of my business, BUT~I really want to caution you about trying "ad diets." "They" prey on desperate men and women trying to lose weight, telling us just what we want to hear so we'll invest in their bogus product. I want to go on record and tell you: THERE IS NO MAGIC IN A BOTTLE TO LOSE WEIGHT!
Trust me, been there, done it! The only true magic is inside yourself! I would hate to see you waste money on a product that not only probably doesn't work the way they claim, but may even cause some harmful side effects for you.
THINK ABOUT IT: If someone REALLY discovered a pill/potion to enable a person to lose weight, would they sell it by flyers or infomercials? I'm 38 years old, and I cannot recall even once seeing an infomercial for the polio vaccine, or tetnus, or hell, I've been around since the onset of AIDS and with all the research they've done, NEVER, have I seen or heard of a flyer or infomercial to sell a treatment product/cure for it! My point: if it were a legitimate claim, the inventor would be making his millions off the drug companies, not peddling it on the streets.
It's your decision of course, but rather than throw good money after a bad investment, I'd rather see you invest the money in a Cathe video that I know will work!
Good luck with whatever you decide :)

I agree with Donna. You know the old adage if it sounds too good to be true it's probably too good to be true? I did read about a supplement called CLA in last month's Fitness magazine. A Norwegian study found it helps subjects lose body fat without losing muscle mass. Here's a link: http://www.sciencenews.org/20010303/bob9.asp Again, there's nothing out there that can compare to exercise and healthy eating to help you stay trim and healthy for life!

Probably the only "magic" thing about this product is fiber. If you eat (or cows eat) a high fiber diet, you will more than likely lose weight because the fiber will fill you up and you will eat less. Nothing magical about it. Plus, the body has to work harder to digest and absorb high fiber foods so you burn more calories just trying to digest the stuff. I would not have wanted to live downwind of these cows who were fed navy beans everyday! Poooeeeeyyy!

Thanks getnfit, bobbi, and beets,
I'm on 1200 cals per day and mostly vegitarian at this point s o I really do eat healthy. Because of an accident I had I'm limited to my physiotheripy for exercise but believe me they give me a pretty good workout. I'm still not dropping any weight with all that and I don't understand it I should be skinny minny by now. I have to drop the pounds to make it easier on my joints and back and therefore diminish my pain. So I really don't know what else to do. Deek

Deek,

Just a guess, you are probably eating too few calories for your activity needs. Your body doesn't have enough nourishment, so your metabolism may have slowed to the point where your body is holding onto every calorie it can to sustain itself. My suggestion: Raise your calorie intake to at least 1500 calories, keep your activity level the same, and see what happens.

Save your $$

I know this post is old, but I'd just like to say save your money!

I used to buy into any ad in magazines. I bought that apple pectin stuff. Since it had a guarantee, I thought it'd work. It did nothing and the # I called to return it had this foreign guy that was no help. I never got my money back.

I also tried Hydroxycut since it was so hyped and everyone said it worked- I got headaches and couldn't sleep.

A lot of these pills seem to be for very overweight people- maybe that's why it doesn't work for me. From personal experience, it's usually a waste of money. If you do want to try something, look for *solid* research. Also, don't believe those diet pill "articles" in mags like "Energy", "M&F Hers", "Oxygen",etc since those ads are sponsored by the mags themselves. That's how I got into Hydroxycut- cause I thought it was a legit article.
