Weighted vest question

Cathlete
I just bought a weighted vest at Sports Authority - it was a "one size fits all". I am 5' 4 and the vest hits my legs when I move and also extends farther than my shoulders.

Are there vests available that are made for smaller frames?

(I live in Hawaii and there are not very many stores here that sell fitness equipment, so I often have to buy things online.)

If so, what brand? How much does it cost, approximately? What weight does it go to, can the weight be varied? Where did you purchase yours?

thanks for your help!

I have the same problem. I found mine at TJMax for 20 bucks. I am going to sew the shoulder part so it sits higher on me.

I have an ironwear short vest and I like it a lot.

I need to pull it out for the leg workouts.

I made mistake. This is not Ironwear. It is from Gold's Gym and identical to Cathe's vest. It is 12 lbs and found it from Walmart.

Kathryn-

Which ironwear vest do you have? How much weight?

The one that is fitted for a woman looks really nice since it is so adjustable.

But the heavy walking vest cool (I live in Hawaii) also looks very tempting however it seems to only come in the long style - I guess the designers didn't think there was enough space to put all the weight on a shorter vest "comfortably".

I am 5' 4" and I don't have an especially long torso. I do have very strong legs and my forearms and wrists are a bit delicate so I think it is better for me to augment the weight with the aid of a vest.

Do you have any opinion about which one you would prefer if you didn't have one and could have the choice of either one?

thanks for your help again,

sarah

Sarah,
I have two of their vests: the Coolvest (short version), which I use for walking (I've used up to 8# in it, and would not exceed 10% of my bodyweight, as many sources suggest for walking) and the black SWAT-team-looking vest (also short version). I also have an undervest for that one, that will allow me to double the weight.

I use the black vest to add weight to squats and lunges (anything where my body is upright) when what I want to use excedes what I can safely clean overhead (though now that I have squat stands, I may not use it much).
