Cathlete
Hello fellow WWer's!!!

Welcome to the last day of September!

Yes, you are seeing correctly....it's 0200 and I am starting this from work. Tonight has actually been nice (so far) after the he!! weekends the last several weeks.

Anyway.....tonight I did C&W and was going so good that I thought that I had enough time to rewind back and do combo #3 again. So I did, well, then for some reason, I ran out of time and ended up having to skip a small portion of the ab section (just the jack-knife crunches). I ended up hopping into the shower 10 minutes later than I like to to get ready for workx( . I actually made good time because I ended up not blowing my hair dry (everyone thinks I got a new 'do) and doing the Jamie Lee Curtis look from True Lies (sans water from the vase!:D ).

I hope that Traci had a good day with MIL.

Waves at everyone else who follows (gets a little lonely here at night)! I hope you all have a good day and a great weekend!

Good Morning Ms Amy and all who follow!
I gotta go catch up on yesterday afternoon posts so I can do personals.... Amy you AMAZE me w/ how you can switch shifts every few days and not miss a beat...... Do you hug your coffee mug 24/7? Do you take no-doze???? Are you really a human or a MACHINE!
}(
Had a great FREE day on the old points tracker.... came in at 56 points.... Had a Country Fried Steak at the Steakhouse last night!!! YUM-O! I so love the concept (BFL) to have a cheat day... I eat clean all week and then do my thing!
I'm re-working whats on rotation so I can fit in my latest Cathe arrivals... Cardio Hits DVD & Mega Step Blast VHS.... so many tapes so little time!
Back in a bit w/ personals... gotta read and get my coffee refilled!

PS AMY: maybe your postman has a little crush on you and thats why he rang your bell?:D

Ok gang-Read last of yesterdays posts.. I had already answered individuals yesterday except for Jennifers.. So JENNIFER: I am happy you are starting to catch your breath... I am sad you are down about your 5#s:) :-( ....

You are so smart to nip it right away! Also remember that those 5#s could also be a result of the types of food you had rather than the calories themselves.... carbonation (sf, ff, cf) ALWAYS "blows me up like a puffer fish... high salt items, etc... you know te drill... so all I'm saying is 5 may or may not be 5....

Stay connected girl we're with ya!

Actually, Traci, it's not that hard switching from days to nights because I don't have kids. Usually I nap for a few hours on Thursday afternoons which allows me to stay up way late (0300-0500) on Thursday nights/Friday mornings, then I sleep all day Friday for work that night. Usually when I post early Friday mornings, I have been up most the night, or have napped a couple of hours in the middle of the night, then gotten up early-early to grocery shop. My schedule of 3 on, 4 off is much easier to tolerate that my old schedule of 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off! Talk about day/night mix up!!!

I do enjoy a cup of coffee now and then, but I have found that I am a "night" person and do much better eating/sleeping/exercising when I work nights. I know that it's all a mental game, but there's NO way in he!! that I am getting up at 0400 to work out before work, but I have absolutely NO problem getting up at 1600 to workout before work! In fact, I have actually bumped my get up time back to 1545 just so I can get an "extra" 10 min or so in!!!:D

I know how you feel about the "free" day. I think mine added up to about 63 points (Ramano's Macaroni Grill italian with a HUGE piece of chocolate cake! and wine (and wine and wine)). :D :9 }(

Traci- you are so right about the "type" of weight vs. "actual" weight. The last few weeks have been really hard for me to get a handle on because of my increased caloric intake, but seeing noticable differences in my waist/hips/abdomen being smaller, but the scale having gone up a total of 8 lbs!!!

I know that I really try to stay away from high salt food items starting Tuesday/Wednesday for my WI on Thursday.

>>>I know that I really try to stay away from high salt food items starting Tuesday/Wednesday for my WI on Thursday.
Amy>>>>>

Me too Amy!- On Wed & Thur I eat no breads or grains cuz they make me bloat - Good thing I like the taste of "clean" food or it would be totrure... but I just like all food! Good, clean, dirty LOVE it all!

Good early morning, all!

It's 5:40am here, and I'm sipping my morning cuppa before heading down to the basement to do my workout. I workout at 9pm Mon-Thurs, take Friday off to transition to 6am workouts on Sat and Sun. I was really, really psyched to go swimming this morning, but by time I went to bed last night, it was apparent that Life was not going to let me do that. We have Swim Training programs at some of our recreational facilities where professional swim athletes coach you through sessions of lap swimming. Kind of like Cathe workouts for the swimming bunch. I love to swim, but have been away from the pool for a few years. Lately I'm really feeling the urge to revisit it. I bought a new bathing suit and everything. Maybe one day this week, or next Saturday morning....

Amy - are you in bed now? Don't you hate it when people like your out-of-time 'do better than your I-spent-45-minutes-straightening-my-enire-head look?

Traci - WTH are you doing answering Amy's post so dang early? Do you have an alarm on your computer, so you can immediately answer every post?? MSB is a nice old workout. Thanks to the thread on the open forum, and the second cup of coffee I shouldn't have had yesterday, I dreamt last night that I was doing it. Since I'm moments away from starting my workout, perhaps I should take heed and pop it into the VCR? I'm not sure. I was wanting to do Leaner Legs this morning, and I don't want to go past a 60 minute workout. Or do I? Bah! Too many workouts, too little time! I want to swim!!! BTW, MSB is a good workout, for sure, but also quite easy, IMO. I do it on the 8" step (I always copy whatever Cathe does. Heck, if Cathe picked a booger, I'd do it too). I think in my notes I've written that it's possibly her easiest steady-state step cardio, outside of her recent beginner workouts. It's not a waste of time, but it's no StepWorks or PowerMax.

Amy and Traci - do you usually have one day every week where you eat 50+ points? And this doesn't prevent you from losing?

Oh, I did my personal WI yesterday and was down 0.2 pounds from last Friday. Given how much I indulged last week, the same week that I reduced my cardio by about half, this isn't so surprising.

Well, I'd best get my butt in gear. Have a great day!
Sandra

Hey sandra: Cool idea you have come up w/ using Friday off for a transition timeclock! I can see you are a SMART ONE!!! Yea baby! You will help me get smart I can tell!!!!!

RE: do you usually have one day every week where you eat 50+ points? And this doesn't prevent you from losing?
I have a 50-60 day AND a 30-40 day and then eat all my APs the other days. (TPs =20).... because I earn 30-45 Aps easy every week my body goes into starvation mode quite easily... took me a year to figure out why I hit plateau and it wouldnt move ..... For awhile I was eating as little as 800 cal a day (& working out w/ Cathe!) and still the scale remained..... Once the light bulb went on I treaded lightly into the HIGH points area.... found my nitch and have been losing average of 1/2-1 pound faithfully for two months now.

RE: Do you have an alarm on your computer, so you can immediately answer every post??
LOLOLOL
:D I wake up without alarm clock 7 days a week between 3:30 and 4:30am.... have always been that way even as a kid! I LOVE MORNINGS!!!!!

RE: BTW, MSB is a good workout, for sure, but also quite easy, IMO. I do it on the 8" step OK: Glad you gave me that heads up because now I'll just do it in addition to whats on my calendar to do instead of changing it all!

RE: (I always copy whatever Cathe does. Heck, if Cathe picked a booger, I'd do it too)
:+ :+ :+ :+ :+ :+ :+

Go find a pool and jump in! Do any of your neibors have one??? You could sneak in before they even get up today!!!

Sandra- More power to you for swimming!!! I can't stand it. Which is a little strange as I was in the Navy for 6.5 yrs!!! When I went to officer training, the first day was asked if I was a "weak or non swimmer". As I was a little overwhelmed to say the least, for some reason, I thought that those were my only 2 choices. Anyway, I said "non swimmer" which landed me in the "breakfast club" for remedial swimming lessons! I ended up getting kicked out after 2 classes because I CAN swim, I just choose not to....therefore "non swimmer by choice!!!" The instructors just didn't get that for some reason.

To answer your question about the super high point days. I side with Traci. I have been faithfully logging in 24 TP daily with a gentle foray into the FP everyonce in a while and since starting to workout with Cathe (June) not only has there been a slowed weight loss, there's been NO weight loss. Traci turned me onto the concept of eating all your APs (sacrilage, I know:eek: ), all your FP and TP, plus a few more points for good measure (within reason, of course);-). Anyway, like Traci, I average 35-45 APs a week and up until this last Thursday when I logged a 2.5 lb loss since last WI (but was actually 6.5 lbs since last week) which has been my first loss SINCE JUNE!!!!!

I am off to bed soon, I just wanted to say another, "good morning" to all my WW chick-a-dees!!!

>Traci - WTH are you doing answering Amy's post so dang early?
>Do you have an alarm on your computer, so you can immediately
>answer every post??

Sandra- Actually, to tell you the truth, Traci and I are psychotically, er, I mean psychically connected!:D

Thanks for the support, you guys :). I'm trying hard to focus on following the program and "doing all of the right things"--I know that no matter what the number on the scale may be right this moment, eventually it'll start to reflect all of the hard work I'm doing now.

Darn lag! ;)

Funny thing about salt... My family (primarily my mother's side) has a tendency towards hypertension, so I developed good habits early on about not using that much salt in my food and keeping a good handle on sodium intake in foods. Then I started running, and a nutritionist recently told me that the reason I have so much trouble running without having to go to the bathroom (and the reason I have to get up during the night--sometimes several times during the night--to go to the bathroom) is that my salt intake is probably too low and my body's not absorbing the fluids I'm taking in. As a result, I am just peeing it out. It all just sort of flows through my body instead of doing its job to help my systems function.

Anyway ever since he told me that, I've been playing around with my salt intake. I'm still trying hard to avoid sodium-laden processed foods, but I am making sure I get my salts in my electrolyte replacement drinks that I use when running, and with this upcoming half-marathon next week, I'm going to do salt packets (that's when you literally down about a 1/2 a teaspoon of pure salt and then follow it up iwth a huge gulp of water). Hopefully that'll take care of the bathroom issue, although I did pretty well in Maui, only having to go once during the whole thing.

As far as carbonation goes, though, I think that you may be onto something :). We get free sodas at work and while I don't drink soda, we have carbonated water, and that's what I drink. Granted, I don't ever really get more than 1 can a day (I get the rest of my water intake from what I drink when I work out, and later on when I'm home), but still, I do notice I get that "bloated" feeling easily with the carbonated water. Blech.

In any case, I am hanging in there :). It is frustrating to see the numbers creep up, even if the numbers themselves aren't scary. It's the direction, more than the actual number, you know? But I am focusing on doing the right things, and as I've said before, I'm reminding myself that things will eventually fall into place if I keep doing that. Eventually my body will get the message that I'm doing all the right things for it, and it should get in line ;).

Thanks again for being in my corner, guys :). I don't make it to WW meetings too often these days, so it means a lot to be able to share all of this with a group and get reenforcement :).

Hey all, it's me again. Back from the dead. I swear, this morning I was the Anti-Sandra. Did.Not.Want.To.Work.Out. I took procrastinating to a whole new level, and just about threw in the towel, but the fact that I'd been up since 5am just to workout, motivated me to do it. I mean, the only thing worth my time other than sleeping between 5-7am is working out. So, after two hours of dilly-dallying, I begrudgingly tossed Leaner Legs in the dvd player (glaring the whole time). Then I opened my new package of anti-slip matting (thanks for the Genius remark, Amy; all emails addressed to me should begin the same way ;) ) and attempted to insert it underneath my puzzlemats. This resulted in a grand spillage of my pint of water, and breakage of the water glass x( x( x( . So, after I cleaned all that up and inserted the matting, I got started. And guess what? The workout felt amazing. Just amazing. I love, love, loved it. Once I finished LL I did KickBox warm up, cardio, arm drills, planks, abs & stretch. Overall, a wonderful workout. And I feel much much better now. In general, I find that the worse I feel before a workout, the better I feel when I'm done. My Attitude Adjustment Hour.

Traci - very interesting about the high points day. I'm glad you found what works for you. Do my neighbours have a POOL?!?! That's a scream. Around here, people are 20 times more likely to have an ice rink in their back yards. In fact, DH has just taken the 6 year old DD for skating lessons. Maybe I need to clarify that I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and that driving to the Yukon is only a day trip for us. I grew up in southwestern Ontario, where it is hot and humid, and everyone had backyard pools, including us. Loved it.

Amy - in the Navy for 6.5 years, huh? Wow! What made you decide to do that? Swimming is not for everyone; very funny about being a non-swimmer by choice! BTW, I was also one of those kids-in-the-bedroom-reading-rather-than-finding-anything-interesting-to-do-outside. As a mother I haven't changed a whole lot, and find it very difficult to take my children to the park. Bores me to tears having to push swings for more than 30 seconds, or any of that stuff. Thankfully their father seems to find it interesting.

Jennifer - that's fascinating about your salt intake and frequent urination. I've never heard of that before. Do you also have low blood pressure?

Well, I'd better go do something. Have a great day,
Sandra

Hi everyone.
It'll take me a while to get all your names! I am new to this check in.
Well, I did go up 0.2 lbs but I at least got off of the couch and did some Cathe this week. I couldn't believe how not doing my activity affects my health. Neck fatigue and headaches, depressed feelings, etc. Now to get back to eating properly!

I am a lapsed Lifetimer and am going to try the weight loss amount of Points and my Flexpoints until it comes back off. I gained 5 lbs over the summer. It might be hard to get used to 4 less points a day but I need to try, and of course do Cathe!
Hope you all have a great week. :)

Good Morning!

I am really interested in the discussion about the higher points days. When I did WW before I was always starving and I thought that I wasn't getting enough food with the exercise I was doing. I think the WW fitness program is geared more toward light/medium intensity and most Cathe workouts are medium/high and it's got to affect how you lose(or don't lose if you aren't eating enough). So those of you that do the higher points day--is it like the Wendie plan(that was a popular variation when I did WW before)?

Today is an off day for me workout wise. I did IMAX Extreme yesterday as well as a 2.5 mile walk, so I'm ready for a break today. I think that tomorrow I'm going for a run. I don't really do videos on the weekend when everyone is home--there is not enough space in this house.

Have a great weekend :)
Kim

Hi all- Here for my mid day check-in!
JENNIFER: The sodium thing is just 1 more great reminder that each of our bodies is very unique... no 1 size fits all for nutrition or exercise. Glad your head is in the right place girl... you'll feel back in charge very soon! Keep in mind too that all our lives most of us will find and lose 5 pounds here and there... its how we handle it that becomes important not the pounds itself. {{{{{hugs}}}}

SANDRA: LOLOLOLOLOL... Its 90+ in Houston today- I gotta look outside my world more and remember some of you are blessed with more than 2 seasons! LOVED the mat/water story- crackin' me up! So happy you are feeling great after sticking w/ it and doing the workout as planned after all that!

NANCY: up .2...shoot thats just extra hair that grew this week! Great job doing your Cathe this week.... revel in your accomplishments!

KIM: I did read about Wendi Plan and also read on WW on line over at Eat More Lose More board ... I dont post on WW site but I lurk and read lololol GREAT JOB for awesome workouts yesterday and enjoy your much deserved rest day!

I finished 1 of 3 w/o's on the agenda today.... DH out of town so doing 1 every couple of hours between "projects"...
Completed Mega Step Blast for first time... What fun it is seeing Cathe in her early years... I love it! Really liked this one... step portions didnt kill me and the leg blaster at the end was a nice surprise. On tap later is CTX Kick and Cardio & Weights...
For you new to our check-in I'm really not obsessed w/ w/o's but I do like variety to keep me from getting bored...attention span of a knat, so I usually mix up all the workouts and do bits and pieces of 2-4 a day... I like turning EVERYTHING into a circuit so my workouts sound a bit odd! Today is unusual doing 3 full ones but taking advantage of just me & the dogs at home.

Back later!

Hey everyone!

I feel like I haven't been on in ages even though it's only been a few days. I was looking back and it seems like we've got several newcomers - WELCOME to Nancy, Kirsten, and Kim!!

Let's see - Open House at school was good - DD's got great teachers and small classes. It should be a really good year for her.

Workouts have been good overall. Thursday spent an hour and a half at the gym doing upper body and cardio. Friday I did GS Legs for the first time. At the end, during stretch, I was thinkging that it wasn't so hard, THEN I tried to stand and walk!!! Today the DOMS just seem to get worse as the day goes on. I can't wait to do it again!!:p

Today will be a light cardio after I'm done checking in. I skipped my early morning workout because it was COLD. I didn't want to get out of my nice warm bed.

Still eating too much PB. Thankfully, the weight is holding steady. I just need to buckle down once and for all to lose these lousy four lbs that I picked up over the summer. The weight wasn't so bad until my back started up. These past few weeks of not being able to do full workouts have had an effect on my clothes - yuck. But this week's been great so I'm thinking I'll get the muscles tightened up again in no time. Especially with that killer GS Legs!

Let's see - time to catch up -

Thanksgiving goal - to do 100 pushups, big girl style. to lose these stubborn four pounds, to have our foyer finally painted - oh wait, that's not forum related, sorry.

Buffy, Sandra and Amy - congrats on the weight loss this week!! High fives to you!

Traci - is Plyo Legs a circuit workout? I dont' have any of Tony's workouts and I'm hesitant because no one works me out like Cathe. How do you like his stuff? PS hope you're feeling all better now.

Teddygirl - help me out with these steel cut oats. I tried them once and didn't like them - I'm used to the soft mushy oatmeal, mine came out less soft and more crunchy. How do you cook yours? I made mine in the microwave and thought that might be why they weren't soft.

Jennifer - I know what you mean - I can pick up several pounds over night, but it takes at least a week to get jsut one pound off. Perserverence girl, you've done it before, you can do it again. We're all here to help you through it! I'm so glad you wrote that about the salt. I've been curtailing my salt intake for years (have been in the bathroom for what seems like years now too :p). Looks liek I may want to revisit my sodium intake now.

Sandra - LOL on the spilled water - it sounds so much like something I would do! Glad to hear it didn't spoil your workout!

This coming week is going to be another hectic one. I'll do my best to check-in daily, but if you don't hear from me, I'm still around - just buried.

OK - off to the gym now!

Happy Saturday!

Claude

CLAUDE!!!!!!!!:7 :7 :7
So happy to see you back was getting worried about you! Your workouts sound amazing! You should be so proud of yourself... GS Legs- I'm with ya, the pain creeps up doesnt it?
Your T-giving goal is quite admirable... I dont think big girl push ups are in my future... I must not be doing correctly- my arms get all the work. I think my tgiving goal is to be out safely at the 130 mark... no yo-yoing and then the last 5 will be my holiday motivation to not go CRAZY on sugar.
Plyo Legs is formatted kinda like an interval... Tony does about 15-20 different standing but changes intensity to high through out each one. My hear rate always goes way up so i count it as HIIT w/ lower focus. I'm not a huge Tony fan but this is probably the best that I've seen him do... its just a personality thing.
I am feeling much better and thanks for asking!
Hope the rest of your weekend is awesome!
BTW: Got all 3 of my workouts done today.. my quads and calves are screaming this evening:eek:

Just wanted to hop on really quick and give all of you a big hug. You don't know what your support and encouragement means to me!! I can be my own worst enemy/critic sometimes, so it's good to be surrounded by people who are pulling for you instead of putting pressure on you (I do a good job of that all by myself LOL).

{{hugs}}

Jennifer

PS The salt intake thing is a really puzzler to me... I'm going to get my doctor's opinion too, just to make sure there isn't something else that's causing the frequent urination thing. I hope it really is as simple as adjusting my salt!

Well, I didn't go to the gym - I got a hankering for Imax2 instead :p . I haven't done it for weeks and weeks and it was awesome. Those Plie jacks kill me every time. Imax2 was the first Cathe workout that I got hooked on so it's a sentimental favorite.

Traci - Thanks for the feedback on Tony. I may just try it. He isn't all cheerleader type of comments, is he? I have a personal aversion to trainers who sound like your local high school cheerleader. At least Cathe tells it like it is, "oh it's burning now". Funny but I'm more motivated by Cathe saying it's tough than by a peppy little blonde thing saying "You can do it (smiley smiley)". Makes me want to punch her lights out. }(

OK, off to some late errands - we've got a family party tomorrow and I promised to make a healthy fruit salad.

Night all!

Claude
