weight training

Hi Cathe, I have been wanting to purchase your ps series, but I have convinced myself that I cannot get a good weight workout in except at the club. Please convince me otherwise. I have been lifting weights for about 4 years now, and just had my 3rd child, so I really don't have the time to stay at the gym that long to do weights after cardio... my youngest can't seem to last long in the nursery. My friends tell me I have muscle definition, and I guess I do, so what will the ps series do for me.. I want to build a bit more, but of course I want to tone more also. Please give me any imput.

Thanks Jenn

PS series

Go for it...the PS series is great! Due to the fact that I live no where near a quality gym, this set is a lifesaver. The exercises that Cathe has chosen really work the muscles and you can quickly see results (and feel them)

I don't know if you are lifting free wts or machines at the gym, but using free weights as Cathe does requires strength, precision, and stabilization work-often giving better results than with machines. While I was in grad school I belonged to a great gym, and at times I miss the atmosphere, but IMO Cathe provides a gym quality (or even better) workout right in my own home! Mixing it up now and again would also be good if you will continue to have the option to lift at the gym. But Cathe's programs in neat little 35-60 min. pkgs more than meets my needs!

PS is Awesome

Definately get the PS Series, I was going to a gym for 2 years and in all honesty I got better results with Cathe's PS Series.

Hi Jenn!

I see you have already gotten some feedback from Julie and Sabrina(thanks you two). I was going to make a similar comment. The PS series is designed to give you a quality gym style free weight workout that you can get stronger and stronger(or tone)with. Each of the three tapes target a couple of major muscle groups which, after doing all three, is equivalent to a total body workout.

Having access to a gym for a good part of my life, I too was always able to just lift there. I decided that when I created the PS series that I wanted it to simulate a gym style workout as best as possible. While there are just a few exercise machines that can't be replicated at home as effectively(leg extention machine, hamstring curl machine, smith machine)most exercises/equipment can provide a very thorough workout at home.

I'm pretty much in the same boat you are in right now(not able to lift at gym as often as in the past due to new baby taking up a lot of extra time)and have set up an exercise area at home. I have a 15 pound bodybar, a 15 pound barbell with a wide variety of weighted plates to grow with, and a wide variety of weighted dumbells. I'm getting great results at home and when I'm at the gym, I pop over to the leg extention and leg curl machine for a few sets.

I think you will be very pleased with the PS tapes. I, too, say go for it and supplement with your gym workout here and there for variety.

Good Luck

Best results after years of fumbling

I highly recommend the PS series of tapes! I'd lifted weights for about 10 years, and never achieved the results I wanted. I read and read workout magazines and books and watched the workout shows on TV (Cory Everson, Kiana, and the Body Shaping group). Then I gave in and had a session with a personal trainer and at the same time discovered Cathe's tapes.

After a year, I'm so pleased with the results! I really like the concept of the PS series which promotes working each body part once a week. Now I alternate the MIS type of working out with the PS style. I have a Y membership and don't even use it except to use their weight machines for legs once in a while because I have stubborn legs..

You really CAN get phenominal results AT HOME!!!!! Exercise videos are where it's at!

I should be a salesperson for workout tapes, I get so excited!

One more thing, if you haven't tried Cathe's step tapes, JUST DO IT!!!!! They really are fun.
