Weight loss check-in

Can I have her too, Ruth? This makes me miss my sister even more...my twin...we would love working out together but have always been in the wrong places at the wrong times...I was married for thirty years and she was the roving hippie for thirty years...and now we have totally reversed roles...she has a 6 year old at 50...and I am a free woman...but we still live 1200 miles apart....so...I am jealous Amy...but what a wonderful sister you ARE!!!

Hi everybody,
I am finally excited cuz I got brave enough to weigh myself today, and am down 2 pounds. I have figured out that the key is just to keep eating healthy day after day after day, and quit worrying about "how many days in a row" I've been eating right, and quit counting the days till free-day, and basically quit THINKING so much about it, and just DO IT. This is kinda like a "DUH-revelation", but for me it is a bit of a breakthru--stop worrying and thinking about it so much, and just do it day after day. Woo hoo!!! I am also excited about the PS rotation i've been doing that was the "featured rotation" posted by Kathy S. I have felt that I've been getting so much out of it, that I'm going to repeat this 3 week rotation over again! The only change though is that I'm going to add in Power Hour once per week. So it'll be the PS tapes once per week plus Power Hour once per week.
Keep up the great work and great attitudes, everybody.
Deb

Great work Deb. We all have those "DUH" revelations! I also find that if I just quit thinking about food "ALL" the time that I do much better. Sometimes that is easier said than done. Anyway, congratulations on the 2 pounds.

Kelly

Hi Deb,
Congratulations on your loss! We all know how exciting THAT feels. It's even more exciting to realize, yes I can do this, all I have to do is...do it!
I guess we've all had that duh moment, whether for weight loss or getting in shape, or both.
Keep up the good work! :-jumpy :-jumpy :-jumpy
Ruth :)

Weight loss issues are always of interest to me since I have spent my entire adult life fretting about it.

As I mentioned in another post, I have lost 20 pounds since March. I changed my eating habits and found Cathe at the same time. Worked wonders.

Anyway, I usually only weigh myself once a month because if the numbers don't reflect what I want I get upset and sometimes this leads to more food than is good for me to consume. I tend to react to things by eating. Better than a scale is how your clothes fit. Sometimes the scale won't budge but you notice that some of the waistbands that were tight before are not quite so tight anymore.

I do my monthly weigh in ritual first thing in the morning, placing the scale in the exact spot as last time. It is digital. I get on it once and that is final. No stepping up and down and shifting a little here, a little there to get a better number. One reading. If it says I gained a pound or two but my clothes are fitting well I don't pay it too much mind.

I noticed some of the posts here mentioned sugar and glycemic index of foods. There is a superb book written by four New Orleans guys called "Sugar Busters." They have a website by that name. Check it out. The book is in paperback and not very expensive. I used many of the principles in this book to fashion my own successful food plan.
