Weight Loss Check-In week of 12/2

Well, turkey day is FINALLY over! I didn't do too badly on Thanksgiving, but all week I ate pretty darn freely, and also had the flu (affected my ability to exercise, but of course not my appetite), so I didn't lose anything. That's right, not an ounce! So my plans to be near 200# by the end of the year are going right down the tubes.

Where did my resolve and motivation go? I mean, I was doing just great for 4-5 months, and then it just disappeared. I really don't want to be fat anymore!!! I've come this far, why can't I keep it up??? Is motivation like a wave, sometimes it comes in and then goes back out? Should I just go with it and have faith that I will get back on track? Or should I shake myself and give myself yet another stern talking to?

Well I'm feeling kinda depressed as you can see. Hope everyone else has done better than me this week!

I also hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and spent lots of time with family and friends. I did have a good holiday despite my ongoing overeating problems.

Hi All,

I have had a crappy week, where I have been as miserable as sin :-rollen ! I know why, it is my PMS, I haven't worked out since Friday night, been poorly over the weekend. Clean eating went to pot at the end of the week too. I am not going to my Rosemary Conley class tonight as I feel yukky, so I am going to put the Christmas decorations up instead, surprise the children tomorrow morning. I have never seen 3 children jump out of bed in the morning with such enthusiasm, to get to their chocolate advent calenders !

And I am refusing to weigh myself too, as I feel like a Heffalump !

Kay - as Donna says it is better to maintain than gain, you will be back on track very soon I am sure, just think that tomorrow you can start a fresh. Plan some clean meals for the week in your food journal, and Good luck !

I have designed a christmas cardio blast for the next few weeks, up until the first few days of january, so i can stay focused over the Christmas season. My downfall is Christmas pudding and fresh cream ! YUMMY !!!!!!!!!!! Thank goodness Christmas is only once a year !

Hi Everyone!

Kay: don't worry about stagnating too much. It happens to everyone. Although I hate plateauing too (been currently plateaued for almost 4 months), I think the body needs a long time to adjust to a reduced weight before it is willing to let go of more. Your resolve will come back sooner than you know!!

Anna: I'm sorry you are feeling yucky. That is not a good way to feel. Perhaps decorating for Christmas will get your spirits up and you will feel more motivated to eat clean and exercise tomorrow! I know that when I came home from work last night and saw that my DH had decorated the house with icicle lights, I felt instantly more inspired about life in general.

I managed to lose 2.5 pounds this week according to my morning weigh-in, but its probably because I didn't eat dinner last night. For some unexplainable reason I was not hungry at all after I ate lunch yesterday.

Anyway, hope everyone has a great week this week and keeps up the hard work!

Linda

Hi.. caught up with you guys over here...

I was in VA at my in-laws last week. Exercised feverishly last week (did Imax 1 hour before heading on the road Wed) and walk/ran a couple of miles on T-Day. Eating was reasonable but I didn't journal so I know I went over but not how much...only really felt out of control with a couple of hot biscuits/butter that I didn't need. Only had 1 dinner (as opposed to the usual 2 or 3), did not have seconds and loaded up on greens/broccoli on half my plate and a dab of this/that for the other half with Pecan/Pumpkin yummy something or other for dessert. My scale is showing me up 3 lbs from last weekend but I know much of it is due to the tons of salt that my MIL puts in everything! [Then again I could be in denial!!]

I'm looking forward to getting back to my routine and feeling in control. I had to skip this AM's workout. I've been getting up at 4:45A to workout. Well..I definitely got used to sleeping in the past couple of days..dragged myself out of bed at 5:30 and then had to help DD because she remembered at 8P last night that she had an assignment due today. We got it done and I'll try to make up for it tonight after work--if I'm not too sleepy--which is why I like to get it checked off first thing in the AM.

Waiting for my Rykas to show up..I tried some on at Lady Footlocker before ordering online so I'm pretty sure they'll fit...I've pretty much flattened my New Balances and wasn't looking forward to shelling out $80.

Hope you all enjoyed time with your family whether it was holiday time or not! Have a great week!

Hi,

I managed to lose 1 of the 9 I gained. I was hoping to lose more but it was thanksgiving. I actually was pretty good last week and let myself enjoy thanksgving without counting calories but by Friday right back on track. This week I'll do better and hopefully by staying on track all 7 days I'll have a significant loss. Today, I purged out all the holiday goodies I don't want laying around to tempt me.

Kay- I was also soooo hoping to break 199 by new years but I don't think that will happen at this point. January for sure though. Isn't that just such a big hurdle? I want so badly to be on the other side of 200 and never see a 2 in front of my weight again- EVER!!!

Donna, I wanted to answer your question from another post- for me going over can mean big big calorie overs also. 100 calories I don't sweat, but when I say I was way over I'm talking at least 500 calories over my target range. Hope that makes you feel better.

Yes Marci! :) Because misery LOVES company, that does make me feel better! :)

This is an "unofficial" post this evening, I'll check back in tomorrow morning with "official" results for last week. I'm holding water weight like crazy since last week! I posted about lifting heavy and seeing a 7# gain on Sunday morning, but this morning (after coffee/workout and breakfast) 6# was gone, so I'll weigh in tomorrow morning first thing and see if I got rid of the extra 1# water + hopefully something extra for all last weeks efforts! But I wanted to just pop in and say I'm here and I'll check back tomorrow with a thumbs up or thumbs down! :)

Kay: Yes, motivation comes in waves! When you're riding one high and losing consistently, it's easy to stay motivated. The hard part is dealing with moments when you don't lose. Despite all your efforts with eating and exercising, and you just don't lose for a few weeks/months. But hang in, because it's ALWAYS better to maintain than to gain, so hang in there, and be patient with yourself. Take a look at your routine and see if you can do something a little different? Nothing drastic, but maybe different. 5min more cardio, or increasing the weights you're using if you've been using the same poundage for 6 weeks or more. Maybe adding an interval cardio? Sometimes minor changes can make all the difference! :)
BTW, wasn't it you that expressed interest in pilates a few weeks ago? If so, did you try it yet?

Okay, now I've babbled so long I've forgotten everyone else's stats and can't remember who posted and what they lost! Go figure! So everyone else, I'll have to get you tomorrow when I "officially" check in! :)

Donna

p.s. You guys cracked me up with the double post today! I always worry when I start the check in that someone else is doing it at the same time! :)

I went up last week about 2 lbs. and today I was down one of those. I was happy, because I am better than Anna, but I have the same thing, so I was happy with one lb. Hopefully I show more of a loss next week. The holidays are so hard, it is much better to maintain than gain. The average person gains 7 lbs. over the holidays, so if you maintain, that is AWESOME!!!! Hope evryone has a good week.

Linda, Marci and Lori: Congrats on your losses, Wooo-Hooooo!!!:)

My "official" check in is a loss of 0.5# for last week! I'm actually quite giddy about that tiny loss after the scare of the 7# gain I thought I had on Sunday. I guess my muscles just needed to "relax" or something? I kid you not when I tell you I'm walking around with some sort of "perma-pump" from chest to thighs! Everything is tight as he**, and mildly sore, but the excess fluid I was holding flushed I guess since it was gone this morning and took that 0.5# with it.
I always "thought" I was working my muscles to failure before, but I know now I wasn't. I would stop just after the burn when you kind of get a shaking thing happen, but I found out this past week that you can actually go a few reps more beyond that and complete failure is literally not being able to physically do another rep. The pump is tremendous and my muscles give off heat for hours after I'm done exercising. This isn't something I think I'll do for the long haul, but clearly my body is getting some "shock value" from it, so I'll do this for a few weeks until the Intensity Series arrives and then go crazy with the new tapes! :)
Anna, hope you're not still feeling yucky! :)

Good week everyone :)
