weight and body fat %

Cathe,

I have a personal question, if you do not want to reveal it thats OK. I was wondering what your weight and body fat percentage were. I, too am 5' 2",

I am 122 pounds and 17.6% body fat at the age of 42. I've been working hard and diligently, but can't seem to get rid of the "pooch" that we all seem to get after children, present company excluded of course. I eat 95% healthy and clean, but of course, I have my cheats.

I also wanted to thank your for keeping your forum free of charge. All the others (The Firm, FitPrime, etc) are no charging. To me it seems they've just given in to the "green monster", but not you. Keep up the great work.

It's me again, I'm trying to bump this up, but if anyone can give me some feedback as to their personal experience I would appreciate it. The problem is 8 months ago I weighed 116 pounds and was roughly 17-18% fat. Now I weigh 122 pounds at 17.6% fat. The ONLY thing that has changed is that I train more intensly, food has stayed the same. My measurements are exactly the same except for my thighs which have increased by 3/4". I know this doesn't sound like a lot, but trust me my jeans are definatley tighter in that respective area. Can anyone help?

As far as diet is concerned I eat 5x/day. It breaks down to 3 meals and two snacks. I follow Weight Watchers becuase it's the only thing that is flexible enough for REAL life. I tried eating 6 meals a day, and really clean (like a competitor) but it got to be too time consuming and unrealistic for me.

Thanks for any input.

I am not really sure if I can help - I am also 5'2" and currently 122 lbs. I do not know my body fat percentage but I am having difficulty getting rid of the childbirth pooch also. I know you said you are on WW and I have never done that. I eat clean and have recently upped my fat percentage by following the Zone way of eating. I do know that heavy and processed carbs really affect the abdominal area. I am seeing some progress from extra cardio. I have heard that running will take that area down, however I am not a runner. Tried it and every joint in my body ached so I just went back to my step and such. Kickbox is great for the abs also and the leg and hip area. I recently did an "8 Week Body Blast" blast rotation from MF Hers and took an inch off of each thigh. The article for the rotation is at:

www.findarticles.com/cf_0/m0KGB/3_3/98592788/print.jhtml

It was a great rotation with good results.

Hope this helps you a bit!

Hi skigirl, I'm experiencing a similar thing. I recently noticed that my pants are tighter at the thighs, but the waist and hips area are slack. So far I've gained only another pound, and my body fat percentage is more or less the same, a difference of some tenths of a point. I noticed this after I upped my barbell for lower body work another 5 pounds, a small increment really, considering that lower body muscles are big and can handle more weight.

Don't you think that you're gaining muscle in your thighs? You said you have been training more intensely.

I try not to stress over my body fat percentage as long as it's within the healthy range. Body fat calculations for females rely on waist and hip measurements, and sometimes I wonder if my BFP is elevated since most of my body fat is in the waist, hip and thigh areas. I have done many searches on the web regarding body fat calculations, and my results have ranged from an impossibly low 15% to a more reasonable 20%. As for the baby pooch, I have that. I'm genetically wired to have it, and unless I go under the knife it won't go away.

Your body fat percentage is actually within professional athlete level, as far as I know. Something you should be proud of.:)

Thanks guys.....that really helped. Annabelle2 I downloaded the article and I'm going to give it a whirl, I'll let you know how it works out.

Pinky, thanks to you too. I know my % is low but I'm still freaking out about the 3/4"...can't help it. I want a leaner look in the legs not a bulky one especially since I'm only 5'2"

I'll keep you up to date on my progress.

Skigirl, I don't know if you are familiar with the YaYa board but there a few of us doing the Look Great in 8 rotation over there and are checking in on the Challenges and Checkin Thread - you could join us and you could also see how we are doing our workouts, it is really varied and a lot of fun too. If you are not a member you do have to register but that is not a big deal.

The link is:

The check in thread is on the Check in and Challenges forum and it is called "Look Great in 8" and we started last week, a couple are on different weeks and have joined in. There is a new thread for each week. If you see last weeks' thread check it out, we just started a new one today and there isn't much there yet.

Hope to see you there!

:( Annabell2, HELP. I can't seem to log onto the board. Can you help. What is the exact title/heading I should type in when I come up on the home page?

Thanks
