****Weekend Melting****

Hey all...yawn...well I went back to bed to read and finish my second book..I started it yesterday, and then fell asleep for two hours.Just woke up actually.

Now, I am still sleepy, because my schedule is all off. Plus, maybe I have a rich foods-the fish was "healthy" but prepared richly, does that make sense?... hangover...I only had two glasses of wine all night from 7-11 so it wasn't that!}( Boy, its nice to do something different and be social, but I prefer my same old same old, it works for me.;)

Lainie, good to see ya sweetie. Are you downing protein shakes? They might feel okay right? I heard about your heatwave and I am sorry, we are in the same boat here in Vegas, but have AC though. You all really need to get that!It is much too hot not to. Your cakes sounds good, sorta, I am not a fan of coconut flakes either.

Leanne, your DH sounds like mine...wait til the movie comes out on DVD, except for ID! We had to go see that one. Having fun beading?:) I checked out the menu at that place, looks fabulous, DH would really love it, he is into breakfast, I am into seafood so it looks like they have both!Yum. Will have to go. Thanks for that!

Kara, have fun putting in those doors...sounds like you are a bundle of energy today, wish I was. I guess we all have days like I am having, I am just so dang sleepy! It was a hard workout week though.

Yeah, Friday I get the scan again, I had DH take bikini pics of me yesterday AM to gauge where I am at. I looked pretty good...I could only tell a slight difference in my waist size..and a little bit in my thighs, both places are where I tend to gain bodyfat so that was no surprise. But it wasn't bad, just a little bit.:p Yeah, the scanner doesn't lie,,maybe I am in total bodyfat denial here.

Well, maybe I should shower? :7 Nah, maybe I will start another book instead and then take a bath. I just finished a book called "The Summer of Naked Swim Parties" about a girl in the 70's who had nudists/pot smokers for parents...it was actually poignant and took me back to when I was 14 years old, well, minus the nudey, pot smoking parents that is...cute.Then I read "Bringing Home the Birkin" which was a lively tale of a fabulous gay mans journey from makeup artist to being a force to be reckoned with on EBay, selling brand new Hermes Birkin bags.:7 Ooh I am so shallow, I love it.;) How was that for a book review?

Geez, I just got told I should be ashamed of myself on one of the threads. WOW. I veered off topic for a minute to offer some words about my hip to someone suffering the same thing and got blasted by th original poster about doing that. So I wrote something a little sarcastic about "oops, forgot, its your message board". ok, that wasn't the nicest response but she sounded so mean. We veer off subject alot around here, thats just the way that it is, or am I wrong? Oh well, I get my dander up to easily sometimes I think, when I feel someone has a haughty attitude, I hate haughty.

Hey Tneah -- Glad you're enjoying your Sunday and getting some relaxing and reading in! That's my favorite way to spend the day, too! My neck is getting stiff from beading and my back is starting to hurt, so I just came downstairs to crash on the couch and read a bit. Those books sound like so much fun! I've been in a mood to read light-hearted things, and have just been going with it and not beating myself up for not reading more "serious" things. I just got that _Gorgeously Green_ book that someone recommended on the OD forum, so am planning on starting that now. I can't believe that someone was so rude to you on that other thread! We all definitely veer off topic -- it's one of the things that makes it feel like we're all involved in a conversation with each other. So don't let that nasty person ruin your day, OK?:) I'm glad you're feeling good with where you're at body-wise. I was going to have my DH take photos of me, too, after doing the body fat testing yesterday, but since that was a wash-out (ha ha!), I'll put it off until I can get an appointment for the scan. I bet you look great, and I'm so glad to hear that you're not letting a little bit of gain bother you. Your current workout and eating schedules sound so much better and healthier (mentally and physically!) for you now than when you were under that intense regimen. Definitely check out that restaurant when you're ready for another "cheat" meal. They have HUUUGE portions and it's not the healthiest, but it's a fun place and the food is SOOOO good!

Hope the rest of you ladies are all having fabulous days! Shelley, hope you're OK since you haven't checked in today to let us know how you are! {{{HUGS}}}!

Hi, all,

This has been a busy day. Our run (12 miles again) was fine -- a little slow, but I guess that's to be expected on the second day. Our bike ride was good, too, but VERY WINDY! DH fixed our tires last night. We've done 100 push ups and crunches today, too; we'll do 100 more of each later. Also, we will go swim around 7:00 this evening. We couldn't do it earlier because the girls had to be at church to set up for Vacation Bible School next week, and we have a parent meeting back at church in a little while for kids going to youth camp.

Jennifer -- Sending (((HUGS))) and prayers to you! I hope your days off are restful and peaceful.

Shannon -- After this challenge is over next week, I am definitely joining y'all in your fun workouts!! I'm so sorry about your parents! I'm sure that's hard for you to hear your mother talk like that. Thank you for your comments about DH and me! It made me smile to think of us as tough -- we have always just done whatever we committed to do, and this challenge is really something he's passionate about, both as a personal celebration of his life after his cardiac arrest and as a way to bring awareness to the plight of the homeless, something he and I both care very much about. Good luck on your job hunt!

Deb -- Hi! I'm glad you are back safely. Sounds like your trip was long & frustrating! I'm glad your sweet puppy weathered it well. Can't wait to see pics!

Leanne -- I ordered 6 DVDs -- Butts & Guts, Low Max, Step Blast/SJP, Dance Workout for Dummies, Dance Off the Inches Hip Hop Party, and Kari Anderson Go Step Workout for Beginners. Those last 3 are designated as either Beg. or Beg./Int. They all looked good to the girls based on Collage Video's description, reviews, and clips. DD wanted another step video because she loved Cathe's Basic Step, but she wants to progress slowly to the next level. That website seems to have a good return policy, so we'll preview them as soon as they come and decide what we think. What play are you seeing next week?

Tneah -- How long will your DH be gone? Your dinner sounds interesting. How long have you lived in Vegas? We were there in December for DH to attend a Continuing Legal Ed. conference. We stayed at the Wynn. Wow! Our room faced down(?) the Strip toward the mountains, and we had an absolutely amazing view. I hope you got a nap in! :) It sounds like you read the BEST books!!!

Kara -- I'm so glad you had a fun day with Colin. LOL at your Indy comments -- haven't seen it yet, but I think I'd agree with you on that storyline.

Lainie -- Glad the braces are a little better. So funny about the fries!:7 It's very hot here, too -- like record hot for June -- 100 degrees! Fortunately, it wasn't too bad this morning while we were running and biking, but it's terrible right now. I can't imagine living without A/C -- hang in there! I wish I had some of that cake; I love German chocolate.

Shelley -- just sending you (((HUGS))), good wishes, and prayers!

Tneah -- just saw your addition about the person on the OD. Sometimes I'm really shocked what people will say behind the cloak of anonymity (or whatever) that the internet provides. Blow it off for sure!

Leanne, sounds like you could use a little couch time.:)Oh and never beat yourself up for reading fluff..I do it all the time! I never feel guilty about reading fluffy stuff, the way I see it, the world has enough serious stuff, and I spent too many years being serious and unhapy, I love to laugh more than anything...everyday should be a holiday in my opinion.:p But I do feel guilty about the bodyfat thing, sigh...I am just trying to put on a brave face and am trying to be more normal about things. Its hard though. I struggle with it everyday, the body hate thing. I just know for me, I simply cannot laugh and be happy when I am exercising three hours a day, it should enhance your life, not take it over right? The food too. Anyway! Even now while I know I need a rest day, am feeling guilty that I have not exercised because of last nights dinner and stuff.

Kristi, speaking of rest days, geez girl. I am so proud of you for finishing(almost, you still have a few more things right?) that incredible challenge! I know you feel proud of yourself as well. I will blow off the remark, it just was so snarky. It really pissed me off. We have lived in Vegas for the past 2 years, our business is based in Salt Lake City, my hubby is a partner in the biz and does all the product creations and marketing. I write for our web site and lend my skills-ha! to our ads...I work with the graphics guys and the copywriters...I also worked on a book about the connection between the menstrual cycle, diet and exercise that is not published yet...long story.:p

Think I will go paint my toes...bright pink.:7

Hello Melters.

Thanks for your prayers and words of encouragement. I must keep remembering things happen on HIS clock not mine.

Something small happened today that brightened things up a little.
A really cute guy winked at me on match.com, which I haven't subscribed to even 6 months or more. He's in the finance biz, higher educated (masters), divorced no kids, dog (no cats), and is a Believer. So, I winked back. ;-)

Looking forward to my days off and now off to Rockford to visit the river and dam.
